  1. I responded to this idea back on this earlier thread.
  2. You can buy them at the next Docker's gig if you plan on attending, or you can order directly off the website via CDBaby and a credit card, or you can just send me a check for three CDs. Your choice!
  3. The heating duct has abestos on the outside, to insulate the duct from getting the wall too hot. It won't go anywhere. I'm not worried about it. I just got eaves put on the north and south side of our house finally so I'm hoping that will solve our wet basement problems as well. I have to move this computer and the rest of my office down there this week because my wife's sister is coming from Florida to help her paint and decorate this room and turn it into the nursery. So I hope to high heaven that the eaves solved the water problem I had!! I spent all day hanging drywall. Fun.
  4. And this nice photo of Peggy singing into... tada... a Neumann U-47! Peggy Lee
  5. I saw this book on a visit this morning to the recording studio that we made our record at (Glenn Brown Productions in E. Lansing). That last sentence had a plethora of prepositions. Anyway, interesting book. I didn't get to read much, just look at the pictures. It is a book about the great recording studios of yester-year. It has chapters on Capitol, Atlantic, Chess, Sun, Stax, Motown, and even Rudy Van Gelder's joint! Plus many more. Some very cool pictures including one of Jimmy Smith playing the organ that I've never seen that was way groovy! And a neat one of Marvin Gaye fooling around with a Hammond (looked like a C3) from Motown. Temples of Sound Looks like an good read! I was drooling over some of the equipment in the photos... old mixing boards, Neumann U-47s galore, and old compressors and such... OooOOooo!
  6. I would say it's in 6/8.. which means you'd count it like this: 1...2...3... 4...5..6... 1...2...3... 4...5..6... 1...2...3... 4...5..6... etc. It's definately a "3" feel... like a waltz, but it seems to be in two-bar phrases, which is why I would consider it 6/8. But you could also just count it in three's... as in 1...2...3... 1...2...3... Same difference...
  7. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
  8. We found a heating duct that was in the wall of the bathroom I'm re-doing. It runs to the bathroom on the second floor and it's coated with abestos. I'm not worried about it. Yes, I could've called someone, but it's more pain than it's worth. Like couw said, the danger is breathing the dust or fibers in. Static abestos isn't going to do anything. Myself? I'd just tear the shit up and throw it out. Wear a mask. It won't kill you. But that was before I had a kid coming... now I'd probably leave it and put something over it.
  9. I just have to post the text from the link Joe posted because it's so damn funny. How very lame. What about Elvin Jones Day? Bob Seger has put out 17 studio albums (not counting the greatest hits compilations) and hasn't had a hit since 1986. Elvin Jones has played on OVER 500 RECORDS since the 1960s. But gosh, nobody listens to jazz, right? LAME. What about brothers Hank and Thad? What about Kenny Burrell? Tommy Flanagan? Barry Harris? There are a million more I'm forgetting...
  10. Yes I am a "little" lactose intolerant. I'm very very slowly accepting it as fact. I love dairy products.
  11. B&J is good, but they still taste... I don't know... fake to me. Breyer's just tastes fresh and real. It doesn't give me a stomach ache, either, like a lot of ice creams do.
  12. What is Dreyer's? WHAT AM I MISSING?!?!?!?!
  13. I saw this somewhere... trying to think where... another forum linked to it. My personal story: When my family moved from our farm house in Mason, MI to Okemos, MI during the summer between my sophomore and junior year of high school, we moved into a rental house of a co-worker of my sister. It was his family home and his mother had lived there since they built it in the 1950s, but she had to be put in a home. He agreed to give my dad a deal on rent if we would help him clean out the house and hold a yard sale. I have never seen so much shit in my life. It was a lot like those photos except nothing was in boxes and it was all old. There were tiny pathways throughout the entire house and every other square inch was taken up with miscellaneous junk. The worst part is that 90% of the junk was not the old lady's. It was her CHILDREN'S!!! They had filled their poor mother's house with all their crap. Old clothes from their high school days, reel-to-reel decks, books, magazines, lawn mowers, pots, knick knacks, records (no good ones), etc etc. Incredible! We just hauled it all outside and sorted through it all. Anything decent we put up for sale and everything else we threw away. They made almost $2000 by selling stuff for 5 and 10 cents a piece. It was crazy.
  14. Believe it or not, I've lost weight! I've been workin' my tail off!
  15. I'm assuming the digital output is akin to line level. It would be silly if they gave you a digital equivalent of a direct phono out. That would be worthless. So who knows what kind of preamplification they are using in that turntable. Probably a one-chip deal... analog preamplification and digital conversion all on the same piece of silicon.
  16. So they were having a sale at our local Kroger on Breyer's ice cream. 1/2 gallon for $2.88. Usually they are upwards of $6.00. So we picked up two. Man... I hadn't had their strawberry ice cream in a long time. It reminded me of the ice cream my mom use to make in the summer using her own garden grown strawberries. How unique is it to find a dessert product these days that only has five ingredients? And uses real sugar instead of corn syrup? Amazing.... I LOVE THIS STUFF! Great Side-Effect #15 of having a pregnant wife. ICE CREAM when it's 28 degrees out!
  17. What blows my mind are the stupid commercials that they're playing for this, trying to convince people that this is some cross-generational event like Woodstock or something. Lame.
  18. You gotta go there, dude. I mean, what kind of scientist or group of scientists would name a planet Uranus? That's like naming your kid Dickie or Beaver. June Cleaver: "Gosh Ward, you were a little hard on the Beaver last night." huhuhuhuhuhuhuh
  19. Cocky, anyone? I can't wait until the Pistons play the Pacers again. I think with 'Sheed, things will be mighty different. Rick Carlisle should win coach of the year. The Pacers have the best record in the NBA and it's all thanks to him. I was mad when Detroit let him go and even though I like Larry Brown, I still don't know if it was a good move or not.
  20. 5 straight games for the Pistons holding an opponent to under 70 points. That's some serious Wallace D, baby! 'Sheed and Big Ben are having a block party!
  21. I drank a lot of Busch Lite in college. Man, that shit is WACK, as the kids are saying. I don't care much for stouts... a little too beer-y for me. What I really like is some good red wine!
  22. "NASA News Briefing About Unusual Solar Object" Huhhuh uhuhh... is it Uranus? huhuhuhuh anus huhuhuh
  23. I like Amstel. And Michelob. Call me Mr. Ol' Standby
  24. Offspring?! Put us next to Outkast or something, please... but not The Offspring. They're horrible. I used to have my 2000+ CDs organized alphabetically. Right now they are still in boxes from our move into our new home back in August. Someday I'll have a space for them... I need to build shelves in the basement where my new office shall be...
  25. THE PLANET FROM OUTER SPACE!!!
