  1. Who is goober?
  2. Yes, we can change your title. I was going to save such an honor for people who get to a certain posting mark, but Sangry's so far ahead of the pack, what's the point?
  3. I realize that and I see where he's coming from. But I think it's funny... I'll probably change it back, though.
  4. Ha... I hadn't noticed that. That's pretty funny.
  5. What the hell are you talking about?
  6. I'll let my brother do the honors...
  7. Deep, this is not your own personal club house. Participate in the discussions as a member of this community or leave. I'm tired of conceeding to special privileges for you so that you can talk about stupid shit that has no place here. Start a thread about music in one of the various music forums... start a thread about politics in the politics forum... start a thread about TV in the miscellaneous forum... I don't care. But you can't have your own personal playground here. This is an open forum for everyone and if you don't want to accept the responsabilities and repercussions of posting, then leave. You've pushed me far enough and I am out of patience. Use3D is just waiting, waiting to shitcan you and your cronies.
  8. Use didn't close the thread, I did. Deep asked me to. What's the big deal? Yes, this forum was setup in part to promote my band. Good job figuring that out, Einstein. Obviously it's much more than that. The biggest reason for setting it up was to allow my friends from the BNBB to have a new home. We let that thread go way past it's expiration date. If you're going to post message after message mocking me and asking me to "shut 'er down, son" then what do you expect me to do? I have a lot of patience. It's running thin.
  9. Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable driving all that way without my wingman. I'm working in Ann Arbor right now and that would mean 3 hours of non-stop driving on 6 hours of sleep. I'm sorry. I really would like to go... but I'm pretty fried as is. How about Chuck Nessa and his lovely wife Ann?
  10. Deep hasn't been banned or anything. I just closed his thread upon his request.
  11. I think you're speaking of Yaya3, eric. Nice record. Ron Blake, who appears on our CD, is a fantastic tenor man, just now starting to lead his own dates. He plays and records with Christian McBride's group but has a solo disc out now on the Mack Ave label. I like Branford.
  12. Your wish is my command.
  13. Hey hey hey now... this ain't the politics forum!
  14. Yeah, for one thing is "Boogaloo" not "Boonaboo" and it's "Ron Blake" not "Peter Blake". Strange. Anyway, our first lukewarm review!!!! WOO HOO!!! There's a first time for everything. It's not so bad... obviously they like the more traditional stuff better. I kind of got that vibe when I emailed them about submitting my disc and they said, "You can submit it, as long as it's jazz." Thanks for posting that, Bev!
  15. And you've never come out to a gig and introduced yourself? FOR SHAME!!!!!!!
  16. Man, I just got back from The Green Door Lounge, a bar here in Lansing that has been around for a long time... affectionately named by me as the "Smokiest Bar In Lansing!" I love the people that go there; just down to earth, regular folk. But I could do without the gagging smoke. Anyway, they are usually closed on Sundays but today they held a benefit for a local drummer named Bob Grudner who has lung cancer. I've played with Bob (aka Bubba) a lot in my 7 or 8 years in the Lansing musical scene and he's a fantastic drummer as well as a real kind and funny individual. Like most musicians he has no health care and so they held this benefit tonight to try and raise money for him. Man, it was one soulful event. Almost every musician that I've ever played with or met or heard about at the Green Door was there. Cats I haven't seen in a long time. When I was just starting out, I was just a nobody keyboard player but they all took me in as family almost instantly. I started playing with a group called the Blue Avenue Delegates, which had been playing at the Green Door for almost 20 years!!!! Of course, when I was in the group there were no original members left. But tonight almost all of them came back... the ones that are still with us. Man, we had at least 12 horn players and three or four drummers and three or four bassists and some keyboard players and guitarists and it was a fuckin' blast!!! And Bubba came up and played his ass off, weak as he was. They banned smoking at the Green Door for this one night. It was a moving experience... all my fellow musicians just hanging, making great music in the spirit of helping one of our own. One of the reasons why even though I don't personally know most of the other musicians on this board (with exceptions of course), I still feel connected with you all. We hang together.
  17. Well sonuva bitch... do we know each other?
  18. Oh Lord... I really don't want to be in the middle of a jazz internet bulletin board smack-down.
  19. Hm... interesting idea. I was thinking of creating some sort of blog-type thing on my Comcast homepage (I get a certain amount of space from my cable modem provider that's unrelated to this space).
  20. While I don't agree with the policy, it is their right to do that. In another thread I mentioned an idea of setting up a non-TheChain related webpage (ie, not on this server) that would give details of the forums in case these problems arise again. That way you'd all at least know what was going on! I'll look into that. For what it's worth, I don't mind discussion of other boards here.
  21. That's what the Bluenote Europe board is for!!!
  22. Deep, I wouldn't taunt Use3D. He is not as forgiving a moderator as me.
  23. I've been thinking of setting up a non-TheChain related page (ie, not on this server) that reports the status of the board so that members have a place to get news if/when we have a server problem here. Good idea?
  24. Hmm.... good question. I'd love to do dinner but I have to work in Ann Arbor tomorrow and Muskegon is a two hour drive from Lansing. I'm not sure how long I'll be in Ann Arbor. If I can get out by 3:00pm and I can be back in Lansing by 4pm and in Muskegon by 6pm. Then we could get something to eat. I'll keep you posted.
