Texas woman busted for selling vibrators

You wanna take it outside? -
Yes, "Never Let Me Go" is a favorite of mine. All of her work with Stanly are gems. The Prestige stuff is good too... the "Legends of Acid Jazz" series. Shirley could definately hang with the big boys. I don't know why she didn't record without a bassist more often... she could kick bass with the best of them.
-
What exactly does this mean?

Oh the Cookbooks are COOKIN'! Some great stuff on those records. She did a lot of records with Lockjaw (about six I think) and I have them all. Just feel-good, foot-tappin jazz. Greasy!!!

Norah Jones album thread at BN site

What, no mention of the Christian overtones prevalent in the new release?! I mean, look at the song titles: 1 Sunrise (sun = christ) 2 What Am I to You? (, Jesus?) 3 Those Sweet Words (of the Bible) 4 Carnival Town (You're all going to hell.) 5 In the Morning (I kneel down and pray.) 6 Be Here to Love Me (Oh Lord) 7 Creepin’ In (My Heart, Oh Lord) 8 Toes (I can even feel you in my...) 9 Humble Me (with your righteousness) 10 Above Ground (Lazarus) 11 The Long Way Home (to Jerusalem) 12 The Prettiest Thing (is baby Jesus' tears) 13 Don’t Miss You At All (Satan!) I'm telling you, it's a modern Christian country record in disguise!!! I'm going to hell.... :rsmile: -
No... I checked the moderation logs... he did not delete a thread at all.

Queen of the Organ is one of the baddest live recording in jazz... period. I don't care if you like organ or not, this group swings their collective butts off! Oh to have seen them live like this is their prime. My favorite non-live Shirley record, however, is the rare Strata-East album "One For Me" with Shirley kickin' bass, Billy Higgins on drums and Harold Vick on the tenor. Fantastic record. All of Shirley's last recordings on the Candid label are highly reccomended as well. It's a true shame her life was cut short in the midst of what sounded like a brilliant comeback to the recording and performing world.

I'm doing this in Finale but I can't seem to find how to get a little triangle up there. My buddy Duncan says it can be done, but I'm not seeing it. I'll have to keep playing it. You're right, Sangry... Western music notation was not made for notating minor organ nuttiness.

Thank you for the insightful post, Ed. The one thing that bothers me is that anyone would think I would let this board go down the shitter because of one poster. I was there when the BNBB went down and I saw how it happened. I will not let that happen here. DEEP, like him or not, has given some insightful commentary about this music we love in the midst of his bullshit. Is it enough to keep him around? He's teetering on the edge right now but I still have to say yes. I'm getting pretty fed up with it but I'm a patient guy. The point I'm trying to make is that I am in control of this ship and I fully intend to keep it from sinking due to some trouble-makers. I think so far I've done a good job and DEEP confining himself to that one thread is a good example.
-
Nah... I fully intend to put the following message in our next CD's booklet and/or case: "Thank you for purchasing this disc. If you think a friend might like it, go ahead a make a copy." The more the merrier, in my opinion.

I can see where this is heading... -
Ah! Confusion ensues the Musician's Forum! I should've stated that the minor blues in question is in Cm. So the G7(#9) chord is the five chord in the minor blues before going back to the tonic. I talked with two friends last night on the phone about this and both gave two different answers and both makes sense. My friend Bill looked up the chord in a guitarist's chord dictionary and it said it was a G7(-10). My friend Duncan, who is a theory nutball, said that the common way to describe it is G7(#9) even though that's not technically correct. It's just the best way to write it since most people will know what you're talking about. Here's another one. When the minor blues resolves to the tonic it does so to a Cm chord with a MAJOR seventh. A major/minor chord. Do you denote this simply Cm/M7?

So I'm writing a chart of a minor Jimmy Smith blues and for the life of me I don't know the name of this chord... In the key of G, on piano, you'd play a G, a B, an F, and a Bb on top. It's the classic James Brown funky chord. I've played it a million times myself, but I guess I don't know the name of it. A G7#9 or something? I'm self taught and I'm still putting names to the shit that I've known for years! Thanks for the help.

Now tell me that won't affect the sound of CDs. What happened to video tape copy protection? Oh yeah, you can buy a little box that bypasses it very cheaply and voila...
-
Hmm.... I just searched for it myself for about 20 minutes... can't find anything. Who started it?
-
Who started it? We did not lose any threads and we've had no crash. The server that hosts this site has crashed once or twice, but no data was lost. It's kind of like rebooting your computer.
-
I miss Mike too, but I have to say this: Leaving because of one thread is a little like throwing the baby out with the bathwater, no? I'm not saying that's why he left, because no one seems to know... maybe he's just on a hiatus, but I do know that some people did leave because of such a thing and in my mind it's silly. Just my two cents.
-
Never thought about a Phish tune... that's an interesting idea. What is the best version of that song? What album is it on?
-
Why are record companies wasting money on this? It's a complete waste of resource. You wanna copy a "copy-protected" BN release? Take the analog outputs of your CD player and hook them up to the input of your computer's sound card and record it. Viola. And I doubt you'll be able to hear the difference between the "analog" copy and the original CD. Stupid.

Texas woman busted for selling vibrators

Wow. I missed this when it came around the first time. You can sell it as long as you don't actually say what it's for? Isn't that false advertising? WTF?
