  1. Mullet Night... now there's a concept for a gig.
  2. Geoff, This forum operates much like life... when you first come in, you have to suffer some knocks and punches. If you believe in what you're doing you'll continue it in spite. Rough n' tumble!
  3. Where's the Babe Thread over there?
  4. Not to hi-jack a well-deserved Sly thread, but Otis Redding over-rated? C'mon, man... he was only 23 years old when he died. 23 years old and he had more soul than 99.9% of every single R&B artist to come along since... Over-rated my ass! And I won't even begin on including Bird on such a list. Inane.
  5. I have a 21" Viewsonic CRT that I got used for $200. I love it! My screen resolution is set to 1600x1200!! On my music machine I have a standard 17" off-brand something or other. Eventually I need to get two 19" monitors... all that recording software needs plenty of screen room!
  6. My sister has said that an airbag going off is like getting punched in the face... she looked like it, too... she had two black-eyes and a cracked lip! But I think that only happens to people who are small. The airbag hits them right in the kisser!
  7. I got a Leslie speaker, model 21H for my Hammond for $650 which I consider a steal. It was in Chicago too, so I just went and picked it up (Chi-town is about 4 hours from here). You usually can't get a full sized Leslie like that for under $1k.
  8. The worst accident I was involved in was in high school. A buddy of mine was driving and we were pulling out from a gas station after leaving school and filling up. He just completely ran a red light, for no reason. I was screaming at him too... RED LIGHT RED LIGHT! And he just plowed through. The scariest thing was seeing this poor lady in her station wagon about to be T-boned by us... with a small child in the rear seat. I'll never forget the look on that kids face or the fear that we were about to smash head-on into him. Luckily my buddy swerved at the last minute and we hit a telephone poll head on instead. We weren't going very fast... maybe 35, but it totaled the car. Everyone was ok, though.
  9. Thanks guys. I am a lucky man. She's over 6 months pregnant now and more beautiful than ever!
  10. No, it'll be today (Friday, January 16th) probably before noon. Whomever gets it better make a big stink! I probably won't be up yet.
  11. Stanley Turrentine was scheduled to appear at the Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival on September 19th. I was pysched to go see him and knew the guy running sound so I could get back stage. He died on the 12th... a week before the gig.
  12. Got the catalog today as well. I thought you guys were kidding. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's a little early to be doing this:
  13. Our after-the-gig ritual that Joe mentioned was just updated this week: We always stop at the same gas station in Grand Rapids to gas up and get some munchies for the hour-long trek back to Lansing. Up the street from the gas station is a Checkers fast-food joint that is open late. I've noticed it a few times but we never stopped there: until this past Tuesday! Oh man, that stuff is GOOD! And CHEAP! Joe's not a fast food kinda guy, but I think I'm going to be pulling through the drive-thru of that baby from now on!
  14. Ok, who's singing Everybody's Fucking But Me? That is fuckin' hilarious!!!
  15. Great record, that.
  16. Yes, a free can of SPAM!* *Free can of SPAM is not actually free nor will it be sent to your home.
  17. I have to admit, I've only heard her on this Christmas collection my wife has singing "The Chirstmas Song" and she does not have a handle on the intervals... she is very much out of tune on that song. It hurts. But that's all I've heard of her so I suppose I shouldn't make a judgement.
  18. Glad you like it, ubu. I just read this thread from the beginnning since I'm having kind of a crappy day... my back is killing me (home repair side effect) and I can't get the things done today I want to get done. But all the kind words made me feel a whole lot better! And it makes me want to do it all again... the next record will be even better!!!! Thank you everyone for your support!
  19. Let's start a petition... an Organissimo Street Team if you will.
  20. We've still got the Clearwater show on the backburner... I'd have to get Ron's permission to release it, though.
  21. Yet unlike Aimee, Norah can sing in tune.
  22. Funny you should bring this up. I just emailed Michael G. Nastos last week about this... he's a DJ at WEMU in Ypsilanti and helped form AMG and wrote reviews for them. He gave me the contact info. They do not have a disc yet, but they will.
