  1. That's some bullshit. I'm glad you called the cops. You didn't happen to get the license plate number, did you?
  2. The only Walt Wanderley I have is that Verve "Talkin' About" series. It has it's moments.
  3. Oh Sangry was FREAKIN' OUT about the turducken. He could hardly wait to try it. Then, after cooking it for an ungodly amount of time (he followed the directions to a "t") it came out all dry and nastified. Poor Jim was distressed.
  4. Specifically to "There It Is". Your rooster avatar was compin' along with the rhythm guitarist. Funky as hell!
  5. I only listen to Boney James. That dude is AWESOME!
  6. Casey swears up and down...
  7. I was going to say "Where's Sangry?" since he was all excited last year to get one. It's a bummer it doesn't work. Me, I like turkey. Just gimme some turkey, dammit! I can't wait for Thursday!!!
  8. Everybody has the same status when they register here.
  9. What's that supposed to mean?
  10. Joe and I learned The Moontrane last night. Great tune. We also learned Infant Eyes... another great tune. Up next, some Zappa!!!!!!!!
  11. By the way, Randy Gelispie now makes his home right here in Lansing, MI... my hometown. He's such a nice cat. I love to hear him play!
  12. I think I know the tune. I think he may have recorded it back in the 70s on Muse and then again recently on a tribute to Charles Earland with Joey DeFrancesco. It's called "On The Stairs". It IS a bad tune. Check out the Tower Records website and listen to the "On The Stairs" sample and see if that's the one you're talking about. It's hard to tell since the sample doesn't have the head in it, but the form is the same (obviously).
  13. Danny, good to see you here.
  14. Well, we certainly disagree on that one, Conn. I can't think of anyone I'd be less happy to see here. Not anyone. I agree that his posts are sometimes "amazingly articulate". If they make any sense at all, I'm amazed... The guy is a troll. Masterhit would have a field day with him.
  15. Interesting... he still shows as validating as of 1:00PM (Tucson time). In order to gain posting privileges, one must respond to the email sent by the server upon completion of the registration form. There's a link in that email that completes the process. If he hasn't done that, he won't be registered, he'll be in the validating mode.
  16. Ooo, the Gerald Wilson box is highly recommended!!! I love it. Plus it has some great big band w/organ stuff on it featuring the fantastic Groove Holmes!!! Oh yeah!
  17. I want the Sonny Stitt box. Last Christmas my wife kept telling me she couldn't afford to get the Stanley T box. I opened all my presents and no Stanley T. But wait, what's the over there behind the tree!??! She's the best wife EVER!
  18. Yes, you're right. "Transitioning" is not a word. Transition, transitional or transitionary are words, but it is not a verb. Living in Michigan, I'm constantly annoyed by how people speak around here. They have that really nasal midwestern thing going on. It's funny, I've lived here all my life, but I don't think I have as bad as a midwestern accent as some people do. My favorite are car salesmen. It's not "hundred" anymore, it's "hunerd". 100 HUNERD DOLLARS! Another weird midwestern thing (or maybe it's just a Lansing thing) is the word "always". Most people around here pronounce it "ol-ways". Drives me nuts. Even my wife does it.
  19. Gotta give it to the Blue, they stomped them. Good for them. Ohio State should've lost that game to Penn State. I cannot believe they ruled a catch when the ball clearly hit the ground and bounced up to the receivers arms. OSU went on to score a touchdown and win the game. I'm glad UofM mopped the floor with them.
  20. You need to hear Lonnie Smith's version. Unfortunately I don't think he's recorded it yet. But I've seen him do it live a couple of times and it's fantastic!
  21. Let us know how it goes!
  22. And I just ordered the 12 disc 78 edition. I just ordered the 48-reel wire recorder edition!!! Fidelity at it's finest!
  23. We actually did this on a small scale last year. We were in the studio doing the "Boogaloo" sessions and cut a shuffle version of "Oh Christmas Tree" and released it with another tune on an EP. I just did burns and handed them out at gigs as a promotional thing. We'll probably do the same thing this year since it was a bit hit. We have a special hit at Billy's Lounge on December 18th that goes live over the airwaves and we'll probably hand them out then.
  24. You can do that in Catraxx. The problem is CDDB. You don't know who entered the information about the disc into the database in the first place. And chances are they didn't do a good job with it. Before my computer crashed I had my entire collection of over 1500 CD titles in there. I would say CDDB had about 75% of them. Of those, 90% had either wrong data, misspelled data, or lazy data (ie, not using capitol letters or correct punctuation) that I had to go back and manually change. Not very time saving.
