Weird stuff, folks!
  3. LOL! Slut-wear. You should copyright that and make it into a real brand. It would sell like hotcakes, man. Just like the Pornstar clothes line (it's for real...)
  4. Gone are the days when they actually made lunch boxes out of metal. I had a Transformers one I thought was pretty cool back in the day.
  5. They plugged the record and the website. As for getting the gig, they have a form you fill out on the website and then if they dig your application or website or something a guy calls and you send a press kit in. If they like that, they book ya! We were supposed to be on last May but the Pistons were in the play-offs and Mitch was gone for two weeks so they re-scheduled. Of course he was gone here, too.
  6. I'm bummed that WJR's streaming is down. That's a real stinker. Mitch himself wasn't there today. He's doing a book tour to support his new release. But the replacement, Frank (I can't recall his last name... horrible, I know...) was very nice and we had fun. They did a short interview towards the end of the show with just me and we played little 30 to 45 second shorts three times an hour to bring the show back from commercial. If it helps spread the word, that's all that matters! What's funny is that they interviewed via phone Denny McClain who just got out of prison (yes, the Denny McClain from the Detroit Tigers). As some may know, he plays organ and Frank mentioned I had a Hammond B3 in the studio Denny got all excited and said, "Wow! Good for him! Man, I haven't seen one of those in a long time!" Funny stuff.
  7. If anyone listens to talk radio, we'll be on the Mitch Albom show today starting at 3:00pm eastern standard time. I know his show is broadcast all over the place. Should be pretty neat.
  8. Funny, I was just talking to Ken about this problem tonight and one of the solutions he proposed was putting the site on our own dedicated server for about $80 a month. Not a bad price, really, considering we'd be getting our own personal server and bandwidth up the booty. But we're not quite big enough to pay for that with advertisers at this point. We're currently tracking down the problem since it doesn't quite make since. MySQL, as far as Ken explained to me, allows up to 100 database connections at once. The most people we've ever had online at one time was 60 way back in July. Even if all those 60 people log on again and access the board, the database should only be accessed by each person for a few seconds at a time. You pull up a thread and then you read it. While you're reading it, the connection to the database should be released. Then if you reply, you write it up and hit send and then connect to the database again for a split second and are released again. So... it doesn't make sense. If anyone gets the error, or if the board is slow, please post it here as soon as it happens. Thank you.
  9. Now he just played a track from Gloria Coleman singing and playing organ (wife of George Coleman) on the Mainstream label. NICE!
  10. The email notification is back online. Seems the little script that controls the emails was missing for some reason. Very strange, but it has been restored. Any other problems, let me know.
  11. Pete just played a track from this record on Verve. Nice stuff! Shirley Horn playing organ and singing!
  12. Dig it! It was Nancy Wilson on the guitarist's record. It's Henry Johnson's date, the guitarist that used to play with the late great Joe Williams and Chris Foreman on organ. I'm going to have to find that record!!!
  13. Wow. Pete Fallico is playing some nice stuff on KUSP right now with a female vocalist (who sounds like a cross between Nancy Wilson and Etta Jones) and organ. Very pretty. I'll listen to see who it is. Check it out... Pete's show is fantastic and those with broadband connections can listen at KUSP.org
  14. Wow. Scary. I didn't know about Van Andel. And I guess I just thought the Amway Grand Plaza was a coincidence.
  15. Joe G, you have to read this. And everyone else, too. That is some funny, funny, funny shit!
  16. Police: "Hey, we're doing this investigation on this woman that someone raped, beat, and then set on fire and we think you're the guy. Would you mind coming down to the police station and talking with us a bit?" Suspect: "Oh yeah, no problem. 3:00pm good for you?"
  17. They're done. No more championships for Phil. ESPN article...
  18. I had no idea Grand Rapids was the birthplace of Amway. That explains and awful lot. Speaking of Quixtar, I got invited to be in on that by a guy who was the a capella group I was in at the time. This was back in 1999 or so and he, of course, wanted some money to get me in on the ground floor of this awesome opportunity. Needless to say, I didn't buy it. I asked the same thing. "Isn't this like Amway?"
  19. Take the sticker off and clean any residue with WD-40. Try it, you'll like it!
  20. Just a little re-organization. Nyuk nyuk! I moved the political and miscellaneous non-political forums to the bottom of the page under "General Discussion". I was thinking we could divide the miscellaneous section up even further into things like "Movies", "Sports", etc... but maybe later!
  21. All right, now you have to post audio samples! You can't just tease us like this!
  22. Chopin Brahms' Requiem
  23. I get my bags from a local used vinyl dealer in Ann Arbor. I can't recall the brand at the moment but they are cheap and hold up well. I know that this post is meaningless, but I just wanted to post in the new forum!
  24. Dammit. I'm getting the mail error thingy again myself. The PMs are going through just like last time. It's just the email isn't. I'll call the my server guy.
