I just changed the title and sub-title per the JSngry's request (although I changed your original re-write, Jim... hope you don't mind!) For what it's worth, I think this is funny!

The Turbanator is a truly original voice on the instrument. I haven't heard this new disc yet, but don't let that one disc throw you off. I've seen him live four times and he's an amazing and engaging performer. He coaxes some sounds out of that 50 year old instrument (the B3) that I've never heard before. Of his new(er) releases, I like the tributes to Jimi Hendrix that were on the now-defunct Music Masters label. I wish someone would record him live as I don't think he's been really captured on record yet.

And to sign us as the new "Soulive". We write more interesting tunes, anyhow... nyuk nyuk nyuk!

Yes, but the Fist of Doom has been waiting patiently! So far things have been pretty tame! Not that I'm encouraging anything... I figure it's just a matter of us being slightly off the radar. The best way to bring in more people is to tell your friends... write your favorite magazine... put a link on your website. I like things around here. Sure, acknowledgement from BN would be nice, but we can live without it...

Just saw this tonight. I didn't read this thread though and didn't stay for the trailer at the end. DOH! I liked it. I agree the Zion parts were dippy. That French guy was hilarious. Does he come back in the third? I thought all the fight scenes were cool with the exception of the one with the millions of Agent Smiths after Neo talks to The Oracle. It started out cool, but then it just got totally ridiculous and cartoony. Other than that, the scene in the French guy's place was sweet, the freeway scene was awesome and Trinity kicks some major butt. Who was the actor that played the architect of the matrix? That guy was fantastic! What a great voice! Looking forward to the third one...

Yes, thanks Dan. It was a real pleasure hearing this record. I have to say that I have Charles Kynard's Legend of Acid Jazz disc but was never too impressed. The playing is fine, but just not very inspired. I agree with Soul Stream that this record should've been followed up with another. The producer pairing seems to have worked magic. Great playing all around and I again agree with Soul Stream that the gospel side is the most interesting. Has anyone ever heard Billy Preston's Hammond gospel album? Some of the things those cats do on the organ amaze me. The whole gospel thing is a totally different arena. GROOVE ON!

Just so everyone knows, we've been having wicked thunderstorms all across Michigan this month. Especially the past two weeks. It seems like some part of Michigan gets at least one per day. I saw the whether on the local 6pm news and there was a storm right around Ann Arbor (where the servers for this website are located). If the power goes out, this board goes down. That's all there is to it. The company who hosts the site has battery backups, but they don't keep the computer running during a power outtage, they just give the guys time to shut the computers down. Know what I mean?

Fond of Fondling.... That's a good name for a tune!

Cheap Organissimo (the band) Exposure?
Jim Alfredson replied to a topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Yeah, the gallery thingy is expensive. As of now, to list the CDs for a week, it's costing me about $2.30 I suppose adding another .25 isn't a big deal. -
I have to go with the Wilson too... not that I'm following the pack! Some great music on this box... plus Groove Holmes rips it up on the first disc!

Man, you know the economy is hurting when even Burt can't score some blow. -
Kind of Blue... doesn't Tennessee Ernie Ford guest on that?

Wow. God bless Benny Carter. What an amazing career. RIP

Cheap Organissimo (the band) Exposure?
Jim Alfredson replied to a topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Yeah, I have thought of that. The key would be to phrase the auction title in such a way as to attract certain buyers, such as people looking for Hammond B3 stuff. It might be worth a shot. -
What did you call me?

Please... we need your help.

Thanks everyone. We want to play Philly definately. I sent a package to Chris' joint. I need to follow up on that. Thanks for reminding me! Concerning Florida, I'm game for anywhere. The state is huge, but it's beautiful, it's a beautiful time of year to be down there, and like Joe said, what's a couple more hours after coming all the way from Michigan!? Rooster, I am looking for any and all clubs. St. Louis is indeed a little out of the way, but maybe we could hit it on our way back up from Florida. I don't care. And maybe after the Florida hit we could hook up something where we head northwest and then come back home. I'm open. Any club or establishment that features live music that you've been to and seen a concert or see ads for or whatever that you think we'll fit into (stylistically). Thanks again! -

Just to clarify, I'm not asking anyone to book a club date for us, just for the name of a club in your hometown that you think might feature a group like ours with Ron Blake. Thanks! -
Hi everyone! Firstly, I want to personally thank everyone for making the board such a success. Over 30,000 posts in just four months?!? That's crazy! I think we have a nice community here and I enjoy logging in everyday and reading the posts from my friends. Thank you! The purpose of this thread is to ask for a little help from you. Organissimo has been accepted to play the Clearwater Jazz Festival in Clearwater, Florida on October 18th of this year. We are hiring Ron Blake to play with us (the wonderful saxophonist on our disc). This is a huge break for us and I am trying to book some club dates to play on the way down to Florida to capitalize on the opportunity. Ron had a great idea. Rather than just focusing on jazz clubs, he and I want to focus on clubs that don't exclusively feature one type of music. For instance, Organissimo plays a bar in Grand Rapids called Billy's Lounge. We play every first Tuesday night of the month and always fill the place up and have a good time, playing mainly instrumental jazz/funk. We keep it on the funky side to appeal to the college kids that come out and dance, but we also through in straight-ahead stuff and they love that too. It's a great atmosphere. We want to find more clubs like that across the country. A club that people go to in order to hang out, listen to music, drink some beer, dance, and have a good time. Preferrably younger people who are open to different styles of music. So, what I'm asking is this. What club in your neck of the woods do you think we would fit well in? It could be a "jazz" club, or it could be a nice little bar like mentioned above. My only concern is that they honestly feature live music (it's not just an afterthought... this means a real stage, lights, etc not some corner off to the side of the bathrooms) and they have a diverse clientel and diverse bands that play there. Any and all leads welcome. And please give as much information as you can: club name, address, phone, a contact if you know one... whatever you got. I hope this isn't too much to ask, but we're really trying to break out of this state and expand our horizons. Since we haven't had any luck finding a manager, the responsability falls onto me. Thank you for your help!

Yes, Ad-Aware 6. Good program... even the free version. My dad uses that Pop-Up Stopper and I think it's annoying. It doesn't always work and it eats up Windows resources. I keep telling him to get rid of it, but he thinks it's the shit.

That's it... Sangrey is banned. -
The "chicken shit" post is still there... on the first page, about halfway down. Posted by BLP 1577. Who is the same person as Chicken Shack. Hence the problem.

Damn! I didn't even notice! Is that cool or what! TKO on your ass!

It's the Gigolo's B-Day on the 10th
Jim Alfredson replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I added this special day to the calender on the main page! Happy Birthday Lee Morgan! Time to spin some of his records as well as some of the stuff he did with Jimmy Smith and Groove Holmes among others! -
