  1. My Grandmother used to build these when I was a kid. Being an oil painter she had a different approach to the paint. (She was also a pretty good on the Wurlitzer - I think she played "Somewhere my Love" every morning ... also topped off the afternoon with extra thick black coffee and a Carling Black Label or two) As I recall she built the Mummy, Frankenstein, Hunch Back, Wolfman and my favorite of all the King Kong. My folks got rid of all of them and every time I get back to the homestead I look in the same storage spot hoping that they will someday reappear. My mother also made some very cool model kits. I still have a group of four dinos plus these kits with bases of a lion, horse, tiger, spider monkey, boxer dog that are in this kind of "paint by numbers" assemblage. Her favorite was a '65 Sting Ray (probably a Revell) she built that some one copped off of her office desk way back in the day.
  2. Biggest turn ever! I can't imagine sitting there as a Laker fan (formerly being one from the West, Chamberlain, Goodrich days) down a game esp with the early Odom show and just waiting for Bryant to fire it up and put it to bed. Allen's take on Vujacic was a thing of beauty. Celts played the game of their lives last night.
  3. Rivers of course ... apples and oranges there. "FSS" was one of those dates that for me came well after hearing all the hard bop stuff. It took me a few turns to get into it but once I did it was more like Ornette Coleman time from just how much I got out of listening to it. Probably played it every other day for a whole summer after getting the Mosaic box long ago.
  4. "it's good to be the King"
  5. But...but....but he speaks of the Pompetous of Love! not to mention that jungle love is driving me crayayayZ. ta think the Joker was penned by Sidran.
  6. now i finally know where these come from!
  7. theatrics ? - that's what we pay for!!! - word here is he won't practice till Sunday. but cool that Pierce didn't get the call on the three point lean in - like last game 'gainst the Pistons - and the Lakers did!
  8. old club skitch from long ago - probably Johnny D's in Somerville.
  9. by all mean. let's save the attacks for long-time members of the community who ask the going price for rare items. not just cuz it's sunday, but i'll give you an amen.
  10. proof that Dunkin Donuts has some of the worst kaffiyeh ever brewed.
  11. and what da heck! I just clicked on your cool posters blog!!!!! NICE SHTUFF!
  12. I did some recent searching on him too (having only "Collard Greens" on a comp) and have luckily picked up one lp ... with one butt ugly pen sketch on the cover. "The Best of..." prestige 7706 A 1) Listen Here 2) Beans 'n Greens 3) Soul Yogi B 1) Peas 'n Rice 2) Harlem Nocturne 3) Spider Man 4) Lonely Avenue I see "Spider Man" on CD from japan but not too keen on the song content there so this one had to suffice for the dearth of McCoy. I'd settle to see someone do just a twofer of stand out tunes.
  13. and I read his first wife was a jazz singer as well as a bimbo!
  14. 88 ... nicely done! I took my first two nines of the season to arrive at my guess - so now you gotta gimmee three.
  15. and Steven Bernstein Anthony Coleman David Krackauer and that whole cadre of Tzadikians.
  16. 85 must be degrees? I'm gonna go out on a limb and toss up a 91 for ya. Unless of course your keg gets confiscated by the ranger!
  17. and a bottle of harpsichord remover would do nicely for this.
  18. That Ace Cake guy was too busy, so it was late getting ensembled:
  19. Used to listen to this show when I could - this guy is crazy. Polka Party UNH. I'd call the grandparents in law and have them tune in for some hometown favorites. plus, a long read.
  20. but at least you can watch when they put that cool mesh thing in with the knitting needles ... and oh, they can take your picture with the arthro camera! cool!!
  21. WOW! Did not listen to the game last nite - power failures abounded from the wind - and just learned of this this morning. There was such a stiff gale blowing thru here all early evening (out on the links I could literally putt a foot off the break and the wind would take over) that I wonder what part that may have played in the win?
