  1. Well, he had a 100 MPH fastball back in 2008, but I hear he tries to go more with 2 seamers and other pitches nowadays. Plus, he's only 27 and this is the first time he has started for any length of time(13 starts this year) and a 1.84 ERA in 73 innings, with 81 strikeouts...I would think was worth a risk. Istead, the Jeff Suppan's of the world get another chance(to be fair, his e.r.a is only 7.84) Most likely the braves will call him up to be a reliever, and he will get in one game a week....sigh....
  2. I'm already there Wow, the cubs actually won a game! that is worth turning in for! Dan, your team could trade a bag of balls for Chris Resop, or just wait for the Braves to release him....still can't figure out why braves haven't brought him up, and no team has apparently asked for him. http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2010/jun/13/mlb-locals-resop-should-know-big-league-fate-soon/
  3. Apparently, no team in baseball needs a starter. And the braves will just let him go. I don't think Bobby likes him, he rarely used him when we had him back in 2008...I think he went 12 days between games a few times. Then Bobby wouldn't use him cuz he walked a few guys. Double Anticipating Chris Resop's Next Team By Ben Nicholson-Smith [June 11 at 1:15pm CST] Chris Resop should be in the major leagues before long, it’s just a question of where. The right-hander has pitched to a 1.84 ERA in 13 Triple A starts this year, striking out more than a batter per inning, and he has a clause in his contract that forces the Braves to expose him to the 29 other clubs if he's not on Atlanta's 25-man roster by June 15th. Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reports that the trade market has yet to develop for Resop, who pitched a one-hitter last night. MLB.com's Mark Bowman agrees and notes that no MLB scouts watched Resop last night. Morosi reports that the Braves will trade Resop if they see a good offer, but they’ll promote him if they don’t see a proposal they like. Resop could replace struggling reliever Jesse Chavez in the team’s bullpen. It’s hard to pinpoint Resop’s value, but as Dave Cameron of FanGraphs points out, pitchers with 9.9 K/9 with ground ball rates approaching 50% open some eyes. Plus, since he doesn’t have much big league experience, Resop would be more than a rental. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Cardinals, Blue Jays, Tigers or Mets pursue the 27-year-old. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/06/anticipating-chris-resops-next-team.html
  4. Thanks for not letting me down, and finding a way to make this story political, in some way!
  5. J.H., what in the wide, wide, world of sports is up with the Phillies offense??? If there was one thing I was sure of this year, it was that your team would score more than anyone else, and only the starting pitching would be an issue. How can an entire team just stop hitting??? I don't buy it's because JRoll is hurt. He seems to miss a chunk each year, or not hit for a month or 3. Very weird. And Patrick....I don't know what's up with Kerry Wood. Though he throws a very straight fastball, going back to his days in Chicago as a starter. I wonder if they would consider making him a starter again. I know he thought he had to close to stay in baseball, but damn....
  6. Almost looks like a joke...not sure what you do if you are really tall or short. Or Fat. Though if you are fat, you probably should keep on walkin' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWP-QtIX-qk
  7. I thought of putting this in the Political forum...but it's a bit too silly for anyone to get upset over. Prove me wrong! http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.e6916d01fedc1c37f59ab9937cca09a4.441&show_article=1
  8. I was curious to compare Bob Feller's motion to Strasburg, not all that similar, but fun to watch. Still looks like he wouldn't have his arm hold together all those seasons like it did. First one shows how fast he threw. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAm5fwb1Psw&feature=related
  9. Am I alone in thinking that the Nats are rushing him to the big leagues too soon? Nope! Honestly, they should have seen after a few starts that it was pointless to have him in the minors, he couldn't work on holding on runners or anything else, when the other team had 2 hits. Even if he was only going 5 innings a start, they might have 5-6 more wins at this point. Surprised they let him go 7 innings. Glad they did though! Perhaps they were keeping his pitch count down in the minors to let him go a bit further in games? And I was wrong about it looking like they messed up his motion in the minors. I just noticed it was the way they edited his strikeouts in the minors back to back, and it made it look like he had no leg kick. I just saw his arm motion. Not that anyone cared what I thought! Too bad this was only on mlb, no way to watch it on DISH. I guess they want to build up that network .
  10. A very good show! And they had to do 30 or more new shows a year. Not 22 like most shows today. Remind those folks of that little fact. When those shows first came out on DVD they were about $60, now they are $17.99 a season! Someday when I actually have disposable income again, I will grab these!
  11. Very sorry to hear that Ray. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
  12. Well, at one point this year, the Braves were 5-14 on the road, and turned it around, you just never know. Speaking of never knowing. Frenchy! I think he was hitting .211 at his lowest point, and looked like he might become a 4th outfielder when Beltran comes back. Next thing you know, he's hitting .268! I just wish someone could show him the stats on strikes thrown to him with 2 strikes. I bet not one in ten pitches would be a called strike.
  13. I haven't watched Strasburg enough but Prior had appalling mechanics, with the obvious problem being the way his elbow rose above his shoulder, creating an inverted "W". I didn't know it til after he destroyed his career, but that's a major predictor of bad arm injuries for pitchers. More here. Heh, that's really funny, cuz ESPN talked to Strasburg about the M, or inverted W a few weeks ago. I also read something comparing the two a few weeks back, and how great Prior's mechanics were....can't find that right now. Thought it was either linked via mlbtradrumors, or ESPN , but can't find it now.
  14. I am really looking forward to Strasburg coming up...but, they are going to overdo this babying of him! He was coming out of games after 52 pitches! Yeah, I get it, you want him to not become the next Mark Prior(Who had much better mechanics than Strasburg) but they seem more caught up in innings pitched than even pitches thrown...at least that's what it appears to be. I keep hearing that they only want him to pitch 110, 120 innings max, for the rest of the season. And that would mean a lot of 4 or 5 inning games if he went 6 innings the start before. Or will he be on a pitch count and come out after 3 2/3rds after striking out 7 and throwing 60 pitches??? They were not letting him go 6 in those wasted starts at AAA....stoopid, IMHO. But, I still...it will be thrilling to see him pitching in the majors...finally!
  15. Funny, I first thought that the ladies, weren't exactly ladies....missed "it"
  16. Well, things sure have gotten better since the last time this thread was brought back to life!
  17. I would do the same but unfortunately they have all been removed. Edit: Not quite all, but most I clicked on the 1942 film 1942 Der Fuehrer's Face and the youtube page said...This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Algerian Relief.
  18. No ifs ands or butts about it! She has a smart lawyer took many pictures of her, as it said at the bottom of the story, .....for her lawsuit showing Lorenzana in her work outfits.
  19. Hmmm, there does appear that there was a sinkhole in Guatemala back in 2007. here's picture of it. I don't see the green building that is seen in the other photos.
  20. I too suffer from being too hot...Wish I could help her out...offer her a job, you know, just to be nice. http://www.king5.com/news/Manager-says-Citibank-fired-her-for-being-too-hot-95434534.html
  21. Well....from the web...Both of Rodriguez's slams this season came after Mark Teixeira was intentionally walked ahead of him, and A-Rod is 5-for-5 overall when teams intentionally pitch around Teixeira. Did someone mention that Tex is hitting a robust .220! reminds me of the 2008 Tex, who was pitched to all the time, instead of the hot Chipper Jones, and it almost always worked. He's one of the best first baseman ever, if not the best, and he will always drive in 100 + RBI's, but he's still a guy that you can get out in big situations. And why is Marson, who I just read is younger than Carlos Santana, still in the majors, while Santana is in the minors????
  22. Did I ever mention I LOVE Facebook, and have no issues with it at all???? Chris, here's a book you might like to read someday!
  23. And see you mock those who have terrible taste in music. That's not fair either. You should apologize to everyone.
