  1. Well, I have found a whole gaggle of cousins I had either lost contact with or didn't even know of! (My Great Grandfather had 18 children, in the old country!) I rarely get folks that email me to become a facebook friend that I wouldn't want to become friends with. I am forgetting what I read above exactly, but can't you just switch your default email to a new one that you will never use??? If you are getting requests from people that you are not familiar with, have you checked on facebook to even see if the request is there??? If not, like others have said, it's like those ebay/paypal phishing emails and has nothing to do with facebook.
  2. I particularly liked what this bright woman said... One 21-year-old woman from Sydney, who used the name Veronica, said she had signed up for the auction to earn money and challenge traditional perceptions about sex. "Technically I'm selling my virginity for money, technically that would be classified as prostitution, but it's not going to be a regular thing, so in my head I can justify that I'm not going to be a prostitute," she told the paper. "I don't think I'll regret it." More
  3. Valverde has always been quite...Animated on the mound. Interesting talk about whether it was sliders or splits. I saw the end of the game since it ran over the beginning of baseball tonight(which I DVR every day) and I saw his pitches. The espn guys said splitters, but it did seem like some slider action on pitches to Tex. Some digging around shows what those probably were....cutters. Though cutters usually don't drop like that, do they???...hmmm, well they say he has amazing control of his splitter. "He's big, strong, with outstanding stuff, and a guy with a lot of personality," Leyland said of Valverde. "Great arm, and a pretty nasty split (split-finger fastball). "And he's smart, smart, smart. You can tell by the way he talks. He's got a good sense of what's going on. He's got a good feel for people -- a good people person." It's his fastball the Tigers most love. Valverde throws a four-seam blazer that can approach 100 mph. It tends to ride high in the strike zone, making it tough for batters to lay off, or to get in front of it. He also has a boring fastball, a cutter, which can sail in on the hands of a left-hand batter or shatter the bat of a right-hander when it cuts across the front half of the plate. "He pitches off his fastball, which is good," said Tigers catcher Gerald Laird, "but that split is pretty nasty. The thing with him is, he has command of the split. A lot of guys who throw it don't know where it's gonna go." 4. Oh yeah, the chemistry between Ed and Lena was amazing! I saw that again when he died...just amazing! I was trying to find a clip of her in a bubble bath that was considered too sexy from Cabin in the Sky(which didn't make a lot of sense, because it was used in an MGM Short) but couldn't find it. Did find this nice clip, like the first song better, I guess since it's a better song!
  5. I wonder how they bent his body to that position???? I don't wonder too much though......
  6. Sure is! I also wonder how many have been thrown by someone with 18 or less wins, or sub .500 career numbers?? I smell some Kurk Jems!
  7. Dan, All I'm saying is enough is enough. A-Rod is right. 15 minutes of fame is more than enough for this guy, but for some inexplicable reason he thinks it's worth 30 or even 45 minutes. Time to get over it. BTW, Jim Palmer said he couldn't have cared less if A-Rod crossed his mound. I think for every Seaver, Gibson, Kaat and McCarver who says it's B.S., you can find others who say it isn't. Dudes, let it go. some reporter obviously asked him to elaborate on his opinions about A-rod. Braden elaborated, now the media is essentially upset at Braden for responding to the questions asked of him. I kinda like Braden because he will answer every question asked of him and he will elaborate. In an era where 98% of all the players say the same stock answers like "I just wanted to help the team" its nice to have a someone be a good interview. I do think however its time for him to let it go. That said if ARod was on my team helping them win I would say that he doesn't respect the game. He may be more of a team player now since last year (hmmm.. seems that winning brings out the best in everyone, if he was still on the Rangers he wouldn't be talking about this the way he is) but there is still something he doesn't get that I think is about the game being bigger than him or his team. I guess Braden gets another 15 minutes of fame for tossing a PERFECT Game against the hottest team in baseball!
  8. Ah, thanks for clarifing what Drennan does...I couldn't figure out how a broadcaster could get away with saying those things....I guess he never steps into the clubhouse, eh????
  9. WOW!!!! Jamie Moyer at the age of 47, just pitched a 2 hit complete game shutout against the Braves! :eye: :eye: Will the Phils pull him from the rotation now that Happ is coming back????? Any fan that thinks their team sucks(I'm talking to you Dan! ) it doesn't...if you grade on a curve. We have a rookie who has 8 homers, is 3rd in the majors in the RBI's and still are a last place team. Now Heyward is injured(The dopey manager had him pinch hit yesterday, like some panicky rookie manager fearing for his job) We have a HOF manager that is terrible, a hitting coach that is horrible, but neither one will be fired, they are special. Look at Moyer's record this year.... @ HOU: 6 IP, 5 ER vs FLA: 6 IP, 5 ER @ATL: 6 IP, 0 ER @SF: 6 IP, 4 ER vs NYM: 6 IP, 5 ER vs ATL: 9 IP, 0 ER I'm only 43, I bet I still have a decent curve and slider...I'm going to try out....
  10. Jeez...how much shit like this is hidden on this board already?? And how much of it have I missed??? What was it????
  11. Thats funny! Must be a relation of the person that screwed up Julia Louis-Dreyfus' name on the walk of fame! There is a long time poster on the AJC baseball blog with the nic Bobby's Cocks. ISBY, Diaz is about the worst looking good hitter in baseball. Well, he was till this year...Nats looked good. Braves looked like the last place team they are. Can't hit to save their lives. And no Brian McCann is having vision problems again. You really, really shouldn't get lasik eye surgery if you play baseball, IMHO.
  12. And seemed to mess up Cole Hamels last night too. Players and coaches seem to be all for tasering the guy the day before... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5165782 Well, I wonder how fans will react if the Nats lose out by 4-5 games...games that Stephen Strasburg could have won??? I mean, don't want to see him become the next Mark Prior, but he's clearly ready. If no one is on in the minors, he won't be slowing down from the stretch there either.... Braves were up 6-4, now tied again at 6-6!
  13. Ghost, and other Yankee fans might find this interesting. From seeing him last year, I know something is wrong...whether it's physical or mechanical, I don't know. http://www.theyankeeu.com/2010/05/vazquezs-slower-fastball-and-flatter-curve-17230
  14. Thanks for the kind words everyone! I was going to respond to several well thought out comments, but there were so many! Suffice to say, everyone who loves or has loved a pet, understands completely. I hope to get another cat someday soon. Used to be there were more roaming the neighborhood than there are now. Plenty still need to be adopted though.
  15. Wow! I hadn't heard she wasn't doing well...I do remember her having breast Cancer years ago. I was going to mention a show/series she was in that ran years ago on PBS,(might have been a British production) that I thought was quite good. But after checking IMDB, I can't begin to figure out what it was! Rest in Peace.
  16. Dan, that's just incredible! Glad he'll be ok, and bionic! Have you talked to him about stretching before running?
  17. Heh...I have seen link to the site many times(though not the way you did it, you are a clever boy, ain't ya?) Not a good idea to look at while eating. Though there is a girl in very short shorts that's not hideous, right now...
  18. Of course, we all think all of our cats were special...I'm sure everyone else feels that way about their family members too. Like so many of our cats, he showed up unannounced...clearly someone had been at least feeding him, but his collar had no tag of any kind on it. He was also about 6 months old, so my Mom stuck him with the terrible name of Baby. He lived up to that name, as he never really matured, he was always getting in trouble. Baby seemed to live on my Mom's bed her last few months. She worried we wouldn't give him the constant attention/petting he got from her. As if! Clearly, he was part Dog. Only cat we ever had that would run right over if you called his name. He loved to get as high on you as he could, while you were sitting in a chair. The chair in front of our computer would always lean back as you did so he could be more comfortable...and really, that's all that mattered! He picked on our older girl cat at times...would put his front leg over her neck like a slimy guy at a bar hitting on women. I felt he needed some gold chains around his neck. He was good looking though, perhaps more of a gigolo. Some cats will bite you if you rubbed their belly. Not Baby. You could rub his belly til the end of time, and he'd still want more. Baby liked everyone. Someone he never met could sit in a chair, and 10 minutes later he'd sit right next to them, and lean into them like they were someone they saw every day. People who were not cat people had to admit he was alright. In my 43 years on this planet, I can't remember not having a cat. Since my Mom died in 2005, 4 cats have died. He was the last one. He was 14 or so. He went from being a "fatso" (my Dad's best friend refused to call him Baby, just fatso) of 14 pounds, to 7 in about 4 months. Some Cancer of course. A fairly long life for cats (we had two make it to 19) But you always want more time, don't you??? Oh, and he was a big goof, who didn't sit like he was supposed to, and was always getting into trouble.... as these pictures will show!
  19. My Dad has had many come out after 30-40 years, it just happens...

  21. Quincy, I envy you getting to see games at the new Busch! Would love to see a game there someday. Saw Rasmus in those games, he is really coming into his own. Remember a few years ago where his Minor league numbers sucked, and he wanted to be traded??? Good thing that never happened! Now, for the Braves...they looked like a team that should fire their manager, and "hitting" coach...but that ain't gonna happen. Finally won yesterday(only 6 hits though) and today broke out and scored more than 4, with 10. They couldn't have been as bad as they looked. And JHey has hit a homer in 3 straight games, (Had one stolen last night from Hunter Pence as well) and now has 7 HR's and 20 RBI's...not bad for a rookie, on a team that doesn't hit! And Ghost, and all other Yankee fans...something is not right with Javy...in case you didn't know that! Seriously, his motion is NOT the same as it was with the Braves last year....have you heard any talk of that??? I know everyone wants to say the pressure, or being in the AL East. He made one start last year against the Red Sox. 7 2/3rds, 6 hits, 1 run, 8 strike outs...I think it was in the ATL though...
  22. Well, the Braves have just about ruined any chance of winning the wildcard even, with an 8 game losing streak. Reasons??? About the worst offense out there. Melky Cabrera, after a few hits last few days has brought his average up to .197. 3 RBI's Sure is tearing the cover off in the girly man AAAA league! Yunel Escobar, a .296 career hitter, hitting .197 after 76 AB's. Brian McCann , a 292 career hitter, is hitting .250. A hot hitter on this club. Jason Heyward has 4 HR's and 16 RBI's, but is only hitting .224, and was called out by Bobby Cox for not swinging the bat enough! Nate McLouth, is hitting .160 with 1 Homer, and 3 RBI's after hitting 20 Hr's and 70 RBI's last year. Chipper Jones is hitting. 241 , on pace for 18 Hr's and 53 RBI's, but as the beat writer for the Braves said tongue in cheek since he has a .397 OBP, does that mean he's really having a good year??? His defense has been beyond terrible, with mental mistakes you would expect from a rookie. Troy Glaus is hitting .203 Oh, forgot, Matt Diaz, a .306 hitter for his career, is hitting .200 Only Martin Prado has hit, but his average is "down" to .357, after being well in the .400's But, sooper smart future HOF'er manager Bobby Cox won't put him in the leadoff position, cuz, well, you know...you don't want to mess up a lineup that has lost 8 games in a row. Now down 3-0 in the 3rd, to Adam Wainwright. And Jair Jurrjens has left with a hamstring problem. Sigh....
  23. MG, somehow you forgot to thank me!!!! Glad you had a good time! Next time, eh what???
