  1. For once in my life, I actually felt a bit sorry for Eminem! be sure to watch the video, if you haven't eaten lately. http://www.hollywood.com/news/Eminem_Walks...o_Prank/5646255
  2. The Braves have the worst outfield(offensively) in baseball, but they faced Jon Garland, who is really lucky to still be in the big leagues. Hey Dan, the dangerous Jeff Francoeur got two rbi's last night....hope there was a Sox scout in attendance. Trust me, he's really good, Andruw Jones in 2008 good, you gotta get him!!!
  3. Nolan Ryan grunted loud with each pitch....not quite the same thing...
  4. That's even more insane than taking Nick Johnson's injury-plagued ass for four months in exchange for Manny Delcarmen. I mean, Theo decides that high OBP guys are who you want, and he'd seriously consider a hacker like that? The last time he did that was with Wily Mo Pena and he swore he'd never do it again (give up pitching for "projects with upside"). Nick Johnson makes more sense...he walks a lot....he did play 131 games in 2005, and 147 in 2006. I was surprised to see he is only 30, I would have guessed 35. Frenchy would have to go to AAA for a month or so and learn to take pitches...not swing at anything with 2 strikes...Andruw has had some success relearning how to hit, and he's 7 years older than French toast. Terry Pendleton has messed up a lot of hitters it appears.
  5. Watchin' baseball tonight too, eh?
  6. J.H, Lidge has to be hurting, right???? Dan, you gonna take Frenchy off our hands????
  7. Well, it just seems to this layperson that guys usually slide hard to the outside of second, you don't see it nearly as much inside 2nd base...the Marlin player apologized as well...But, if the Rays feel it wasn't dirty, guess it wasn't...
  8. I saw the replay and it looked pretty dirty to me, yet Dave Winfield acted like it was a clean play.....If Omar Infante hadn't just had his hand broken on pitch a few days ago, I'd say a good move would have been for you guys to trade for Martin Prado of the braves. He can really hit, and plays a mean 3rd and 2nd base....but won't ever be a regular with Booby Cox as manager. Moot point anyway....
  9. late here as well, hope it was a great one!
  10. Yankees, Rays and Red Sox fans...you're welcome.
  11. Dan, that's why I wanted the braves to take a chance on him this year...he did throw a ton of sliders last year...IF he can throw 93-94 again, it should be very interesting to watch him pitch. Last thing I thought you guys would need is Smoltz, at least this early....
  12. Dan, I hadn't heard anything yet...but if it lines up that way...oh boy! I'm pretty sure I mentioned this before, but at first, everyone was mad at braves management, but after a few comments from Smoltz about the organization, many seemed to sour on Smoltz. I understood where he was coming from...and I would root for him to beat the braves, which would no doubt piss off upper management. Pitchers usually don't come back from labrum issues the same afterwards, and Smoltz is old....but, if he does, you will see why he's not your typical pitcher...not by a long shot.
  13. That is a classic line! I don't really like LaRussa, but he does think, often outside the box... unlike Bobby Cox, who just follows a dog eared book. Cardinals players really play the game...every damn SS they call up has played beautifully. I know there are hundreds of Braves fans here, so heres some braves news! Calling up Kris Medlen, instead of arguably the top starter in the minor leagues, Tommy Hanson. Why??? Medlen has a 1.19 ERA, but they had to add him to the 40 man roster. He starts Wednesday. Trade bait??? I really think it's stupid to trade a good cheap starter. Would much rather see the Braves trade Javier Vazquez and have that money for a bat as well...but, would anyone take his salary????
  14. Quincy, that's a nice site, thanks!
  15. That was one of the worst losses in a long time...well, back to last year at least! Seriously the bullpen is not as bad as you saw. Peter Moylan was great in 2007, 1.82 ERA, but he had Tommy John surgery 11 months ago! Really should be rehabbing in AAA. And Booby had said he wasn't going to pitch on back to back nights, and was warming up in each game, but just pitched today. In his feeble little brain if you don't come in a game, you didn't do a thing to stress your arm. And the one Loogy(Gonzo can't count, he's the closer) O'Flaherty ...he got 4 outs yesterday, then came in today. Not smart. 8 guys in the bullpen. Campillo is really a starter,(3.91 ERA in 25 starts last year) did nothing to lose the job this year, just have too many starters right now. He walked 2 in less than an inning today, 38 last year in 158 innings. Blaine Boyer and Moylan have 3 ### in place of E.R.A. stats, that can't be good! Should have re-signed Will Ohman, but the brain trust must really feel great about saving that 1 + million I don't know where we will end up...all the talk about the Marlins this year, how people think they have the best starters in the NL East...they may once again end up in first. Well, the playoffs, they usually get in via the wildcard, right???? No one else really has that good of a rotation(Braves would if Tommy Hanson was in the ML, instead of AAA) So I was watching the Phillies' bullpen gift wrap a win for the Braves yesterday and the local broadcast put up a stat RE: the Braves bullpen. Can't remember the numbers but basically they said that the Braves had the worst ERA* of any bullpen in the majors for the first 11 games of the season. Since then they have had the lowest ERA*. Edit *= or maybe it was opponents BA. Anyway, the point is that they have really improved. A very strange team, this years Atlanta Braves. As you know, a terrible bullpen early on. Garrett Anderson was basically called out by the Braves writer for MLB.com, Mark Bowman ....finally went on the DL, then came back and at least has had a few rbi's, which is better than April, where he had 0. His return though seems to have made a difference. Kotchman has had a typical NL to AL start, but in the NL, but is starting to finally hit.... Kawakami has been more or less a bust, til his last start. Javy Vasquez has been inconsistent, to say the least. But, Lowe, Jurrjens, Kawkami and Vasquez, when they all pitch well, makes for a good starting 4. And to beat the Mets last night without Chipper, very impressive! I think the Mets new stadium is much better than the Yankees, which really shouldn't be the case, should it????
  16. And getting even further away from steroids, Zank Greinke being compared with greats
  17. Looking for Joan Jett's I Love Rock N' Roll on youtube(My best of Joan Jett cd has an lesser version with Sex Pistols members instead of the original) , I saw reference to the original version, by the Arrrows! Huh??? How come I never heard it, or heard of it before??? I am betting folks across the pond here have, but anyone in the states??? And silly me, I thought Soft Sell were the originators of Tainted Love. Someone named Gloria Jones recorded it in 1964. Then redid it in 1976. Never heard either version!!! So, I have admitted my secret shame(s) what songs have people heard that they never knew were covers til years down the road????
  18. Someone sure talks like they are a bigger man than they really are 120. Have you picked up my dry cleaning yet????
  19. Ah, I get ya hadn't made many political posts of late...what is weird though is when I saw the number here, I didn't realize it did go from 7766, to 7767, and when I tried a new post, (just typed the word boo) it really did end up in the old post, did a second time as well! Could that have been since it was made in less than 60 seconds????
  20. I am no A-Rod fan...well, I liked the idea of him being the real home run champ over Barriod, but now that's a moot point, isn't it...anyway, this book just smells, IMHO. And heard his high school coach say he went from 160 to 190 over his years there, and didn't seem at all like a big deal, just a kid getting bigger as he got older. Look, if it turns out like one guy I heard on Costas' radio show said, 70% were on the juice at one time, we are going to have to get over beating up the players that did the best on them. And I sure hope Fat Albert isn't on them. He's the best overall player in the game, right now, bar none. Bobby Cox said he's the best 1st baseman he's ever seen. I saw him play the braves for 3 games, and you can tell he's taken everything to a new level this year....his elbow isn't barking, and he is the smartest guy on the field.... Dan, some bitter Braves fans are saying no way Smoltz's shoulder can stay together, being held by 5 screws. These are the same folks that were sorry to see him leave a few months ago, but once he started to badmouth some braves personnel, that bothered many. I understand where he's coming from, taking less over the years to stay a brave. I hope he gets one more chance to show he's one of the best ever, come playoff time.
  21. I have made several posts, and for some reason I noticed I seem stuck on 7767....a nice number to be stuck on, sure...but...I might tire of it eventually. Anyone else notice your count isn't going up??? Watch, it will after I finish this thread.... Ha, I try to add a new post, and it ended up in this one! EDIT: well, must have just been stuck for a few minutes, seems to be rolling again...never mind.
  22. Well, the headline itself isn't that funny(and what happened to this woman definitely isn't) the brief text in this news story is just ...amazing. But, having lived 10 LONG years in Jacksonville, I can tell you this is the way a fair number of locals talk there. How many grammatical errors can you spot??? And how was she critically injured if the tires never touched her??? Sunbather Hit By SUV JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- A woman is in the hospital Friday afternoon after she was ran over on the beach by an SUV. Action News is told 41-year-old Anne Marie Giffin was laying in the sand, when a Jacksonville Beach officer driving a Chevy Trailblazer SUV went to make a turn and ran over her. Jacksonville Beach Sgt. Tom Bingham says the officer did not see Giffin laying on the beach and the tires never touched her. Action News is told that Giffin is in Shands Hospital in critical condition. http://www.actionnewsjax.com/content/topst...0kxRwviAeQ.cspx
