Yeah, I wondering about that, too. Since when did they start doing an arbtrary waiting period? Ususally, they start the next series a day after the previous one. And am I missing something or have they gone from a seven game NLCS/ALCS to a five game NLCS/ALCS? Weird. It's not an arbitrary waiting period, everyone save the Phils wrapped it up in 3 games, they could have gone 5. And there could have been a snowout again! I don't think they could push up the start dates with people already planning to fly, drive to games, with hotel reservations in place... Nope, still 7 days, but you likely just clicked on the 15th thru the 21st part of the schedule. http://espn.go.com/mlb/schedule/_/date/20091022

What do hermaphrodites feel like???? Man, ever feel like you have given someone the biggest softball ever???? -
There are rumors here in Boston that the Sox are going to make a hard push for a trade to get King Felix!!! Really? The Red Sox better start by offering Beckett, Pedroia and a top draft pick. And even then it's not worth it. Felix is the real deal and he's only 23. Well I think they might offer Bucholz, Youk ,Bowden ....that might get the deal done . Some of the media guys including Merloni think that the Sox might not want to give Beckett a big deal because the last 2 years he has had these nagging injuries late in the season. His best year was 07 and that came with a month off in the middle of the season. Didn't we hear this talk just a few months ago, about the big deal that didn't happen??? I think the Mariners would regret it, no matter who they(Sox) gave up. You don't give up #1 starters like him, at his age. And if the Red Sox want to compete next year(Baltimore is going to be a lot better in 2010) Giving up Youk, plus not knowing what they will get from Ortiz, or if they will re-sign Bay... they will turn into the Braves of 2009. A team with as good a starting rotation as anyone, and nothing to show for it.

Doesn't it always? In the playoffs especially. Gee, and I always thought it was hitting that decides it, but everyone says pitching. Buck Martinez said something interesting during whatever series he was doing...that basically hitters get tired down the stretch(no, that's not what's interesting) and basically bats get heavier, slower...Doesn't seem to be true against the closers so far, but adreinalin and big crowds may have something to do with that. I sure saw a lot of guys miss 91-92 MPH pitches that seemed right down the middle, earlier in games.

And WorldB3, I keep forgetting to mention this, but a week or two ago, Peter Gammons talking about the A's and how really good they should get very soon....tons of talent about ready to burst on the scene(and clearly some of the great pitching is already there). Now...if they can only find a way to keep it for more than 2-3 years....

Agreed ......Go Angels ! I seem to recall talk like this, last year after the Rays beat the Red Sox!

I have more of a bitch about that, than the fact it's super cold on the 12th of October. It's a freak cold weather spell. Can't blame Bud for that. IF somehow the Rockies got into the W.S. and it's snowing in Nov., then I bitch about it. And to Ghost, and all other evil empire lovers, congrats on getting to the ALCS. A lot of talented Yankee teams haven't gotten very far recently...this team seems different. Dodgers Yankees would be ok, but I honestly think Phils Yankees would be the best series.....Will the Phils winning of course!

Just so you all know it ain't just Dan... http://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?showtop...&start=1920

Wow, what was that, 2, or 3 times the Angels down to their last strike??? Now up 7-6??? AMAZING!!!!!!! And Papalbon had allowed no earned runs in 27 innings before that....

Rare footage of the Babe in action...You can forget how little footage there is of players then.... http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/09/sports/b...;WT.mc_ev=click

See Ghost??? The hatred comes from all corners of the political spectrum! I'm glad Yankees fans are happy. And they do look like a team having fun. But that ump made the worst error I have ever seen in a playoff game. Including that ump in the Cards-Royals game. That was at least bang-bang. That was the biggest joke of the day. Well, 2nd biggest! Game should have still been tied up after Tex's home run. The game was so very many hours ago, but as I recall, Mauer would have scored from 2nd, on the first hit after his single, after the non double. Then you don't have the same defense(most likely) at least not a force out at home. They may have still played in....just a shame for the Twins, what chance they had in the series was taken away by an ump who can't see worth a damn. All it really means is the Yankees win it in 3-4 games instead of 5.
-
Just enough times...of course, that should have only tied the game.... Teixera, a guy last year that was the guy who couldn't come through when Chipper was walked, time and time again....hits the game winner. Amazing.... Best team money can buy! -_-

How much money did that Ump have on the Yankees winning??? what the hell is the point of an extra ump??? I have seen umps from 3rd see a ball was on the line, and he can't tell that ball was fair by 3-4 inches???? Damn...... He has loosened up with age...strangely enough, I liked him in the Shadow...don't think many other people did though.... -
Six retired Irishmen were playing poker in O'Leary's apartment when Paddy Murphy loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest, and drops dead at the table. Showing respect for their fallen brother, the other five continue playing standing up. Michael O'Conner looks around and asks, 'Oh, me boys, someone got's to tell Paddy's wife. Who will it be?' They draw straws. Paul Gallagher picks the short one. They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse. 'Discreet??? I'm the most discreet Irishmen you'll ever meet. Discretion is me middle name. Leave it to me.' Gallagher goes over to Murphy's house and knocks on the door. Mrs. Murphy answers, and asks what he wants. Gallagher declares, 'Your husband just lost $500, and is afraid to come home.' 'Tell him to drop dead!', says Murphy's wife.. 'I'll go tell him.' says Gallagher.

Is it too late to wish a happy birthday??? :blush2: Hope you had a great one!!!! -
I am pulling for the Tigers too. Still have some bitterness about the Twins beating the Braves in 1991. Hrbek's lifting Ron Gant off of 1st, (how come that's not considered a pussy move years later, but guys knocking a ball out of a 1st baseman's glove is???) having the air blow for the home team's A.B's, deaking Lonnie Smith at 2nd base(Ok, I guess that was his fault) Ok, a LOT of bitterness! Plus, they have always been cheap, and even drawing tons of fans, and having one of the richest owners in baseball....they are cheap! So, GO TIGERS!!!!!!

if you all missed it, it was classic tv watching him talk about this. People laughing at the wrong time....not not exactly knowing if it was a real story or not. -
