Always glad to hear of "new" Fats recordings!

For the thousands of fans here, record Night at the Opera at 6 AM(EST) and after the film will be the 1929 short, The Opry House. The one they usually show, Nine O'Clock Folks, from 1931, has some cruel dog antics....don't know if they have run this one before. Anyone recall seeing this short?????

Of course, it has nothing to do with the fact the braves have won 7 straight, and 15 of their last 17!!! Seriously, is anyone here even aware how hot they have been???? The Rockies seemed to get a ton of press on their run in 2007...true, they were a touch hotter, but it seems ESPN has only just noticed them the last day or two. They will still focusing on the Giants when the Braves were ahead of them! Still haven't seen any montages with epic music in the background. Bobby Cox is a very strange manager. He is purely incapable of managing a bullpen. Peter Moylan, the heavily tattooed Aussie, has more appearances than anyone else in baseball. And he had Tommy John surgery way, way back in May of 2008! Would LaRussa wear out a guy like that, so soon after the surgery???? The Braves have 2 closers, in Mike Gonzalez and Rafael Soriano. They have been way overworked, until recently. (They will likely be allowed to walk, since they will cost too much come next year...sigh) Instead of signing Jason Giambi, or Tony Clark, they have instead stayed with.....Greg Norton. Had a great year as a pinch hitter in 2008, but this year, in 74 AB's he has 10 hits, for a robust .136 Batting average!!! How many games did that cost us??? How many games were cost by leaving Jeff Francouer out there when he was hitting without any power, and swinging at pitches 2 feet outside???? But, that is what also works in his favor...everyone says how loyal he is to players. Players love him, and play hard for him. They don't quit on him. And thats why they are still in the race...somehow. Well, that and the fact Jair Jurrjens, Javy Vazquez(Man, was I ever wrong about trading for him!), and Tommy Hanson all have ERA's under 3.00! 2 games back in the Wild card, with 6 to go! Unbelievable!

Look at it this way...each loss puts your team in position to get an even better pick in the draft! as usual...the sports media has ignored the Braves in the wildcard hunt. ESPN still talking about the Giants who are 4 back after last night's loss...Braves are 3.5 back, just 3 in the loss column! I have now jinxed them! As someone said on a braves forum..... And while we have 7 with the Nats wrapped around 3 with the Fish, the Rox have 3 at home with St. Louie, 3 at home with Milwaukee, and finish with 3 at LA. Do you know how easily they could go 4-5 over their last 9???? So the race that looked to be over, ain't! At least not yet....

Didn't Georgia experience a drought last year? What's going on down there? Yes, we had drought conditions in 2008 and 2009 - lake levels way down, outdoor water use restrictions, farmers hurting, etc. The drought was officially declared over a few months ago, but it now seems like cosmic payback time. I blame myself - I played Son House's "Dry Spell Blues" and "High Water Everywhere" by Charlie Patton back to back a few days ago.... Fortunately, we on the south side "only" got about 7-8 inches over the past week....it is weird to see that bright thing in the sky after so very long. Did you see how much Lake Lanier has gone up in the past few days??? We should reach full pool yet, if the Army Corp of Engineers doesn't find some reason to start draining for no good reason http://lanier.uslakes.info/Level.asp
