as several wise men said... "Home run hitters drive Cadillacs. Singles hitters drive Fords."

Braves have managed to work themselves into 4th place, way to go braves! Really can't wait to see the Red Sox beat up the hapless braves. And all the bitching about Citizens bank park or Yankee stadium, what about Camden Yards??? Braves played 3 games there, and that one sure seems every bit the joke the others are considered. Really funny watching folks trying to run on Frenchy when he's about 50 feet from home plate....anyone want to trade for him yet??? Perhaps he can be a pitcher again, like he was in school!

Soulstation, did you ever try tapping the starter like I mentioned before??? With a wooden mallet, or LIGHTLY with a read one??? Hell, check to make sure the sucker ain't loose, or the connections to it. Mechanics can get sloppy. If it really would cost that much to get it ship shape, you might want to look into another car. You might find some early 70's Duster 4 door with a slant 6(meaning a very simple car-timing chains, not a timing belt, and they get good gas mileage) for less than a grand. You might even luck into a car like yours cheap that had it's belt replaced recently. Check Craigs list, thick with cars. Hey wait, more swell suggestions. Non car related. I haven't a clue if candles sell well on ebay, but have you thought of doing that???? A quick search showed me if nothing else you might save some dough on candle making supplies. Nothing beats being your own boss. Stick with it even when times get better. I have a 2000 Honda Civic LX, 93,000 miles now, and never a problem at all. Seeing all those issues you've got leaves me worried about when my luck will run out. Dan, I am betting with all the trouble SS1 is talking about, he has a lot more miles on his car.

Tommy Hanson made his Debut against the Brewers and gave up 3 homers and 6 runs...but, you can see he's going to be a good one....what others said... His catcher Sunday, David Ross, says that Hanson, 6-6, 220 pounds, is the best young pitcher he's ever caught. Scouts compare his wicked slider to that of former Braves ace John Smoltz. Chipper Jones, a former teammate of Smoltz's, agrees. "He's one guy I'd compare him to," Jones said this spring. "Only with a better repertoire." A better repertoire than Smoltz. Sizzling fastball with movement. Big, breaking curve. Hard slider. A change-up that's getting better ... Jones lobbied hard this spring for Hanson to make the opening day rotation "even if you have to go to a six-man rotation, I would do it. ... Once he gets his sea legs in the big leagues, he's going to be a No. 1 starter." http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/sportsline/main11831706.shtml

Brewers look really good...never could have imagined them in the hunt after losing Sabbathia and Sheets...that series is Atlanta in a nutshell. Either they look like a last place team, or a team that will get into the playoffs...

By burn, I assume you mean make a copy for folks??? Both guys are headaches right now. Frenchy has talent, no doubt, send him to AAA for a month or two, and I bet ya he comes back a patient guy. Ted Williams had 20/10 vision.

Well, It's funny...the mutts win even with a cast of nobodies and has-beens. Braves have less luck with has-beens. If the Marlins hadn't fallen apart, it really could have been their year. Phillies should try to get Penny and then a #1 or #2 guy. J.H., have you heard of any rumors of Cliff Lee??? You get him and have Penny go 5-6 innings and only give up 4 runs a game, and you guys win the east. Or will Bastardo, or whatever his name is, get called up???

More folks know him as RDK anyway!

Guess I need to say happy birthday in two threads then! Have a great one, in spite of my woes!

thanks for all the suggestions! Jim, the Ortho I used last year(or was it Amdro-is Amdro what Mark McGuire got busted for using? ) Really, really stunk up the yard. Put it on during the worst part of the drought here, didn't rain for a month. Something that nasty, should have worked. I will try some grits or malt o meal. I also saw some of the ants by a large hill, and saw they were not fire ants! Wonder if non fire ants are killed by fire ant killer??? Some interesting facts on ants in that link Joe. -

Dan, if I was not a Braves fan, I might feel that way. It was a bold, money saving move both to keep Hanson down on the farm this long, after every 5th starter has all but guaranteed a loss all year long. It was about keeping Hanson's future salary down(Why else call up Medlin before him?) and saving the 1 million they had to pay him if he made a start (by the way, good luck braves, ever signing someone to a incentive laden contract again) . I've been all for Hanson being with the team out of spring training, but everyone and their brother thought Jordan Schafer was the 2nd coming of Grady Sizemore, and now he may instead be the second coming of Brad Komminsk. Everyone not named Quincy, look him up! It would have been smart to have Hanson up earlier to see if he really was all that and a bag of chips, or not ready. Then go with Glavine and get 5-6 innings every 5th day, with3-4 runs allowed. Better than what we have now. If Glavine plays for say the Brewers and wins a fair number of games, and Hanson pitches well, I will be happy. Oh, except about Nate McLouth. Great trade, Pirates could have gotten a lot more for him, I'd imagine from say the White Sox??? But from what I am hearing the braves are going to have him bat...leadoff. His 9 homers(Chipper and Kelly Johnson have the team lead with 5 each) and 34 RBI’s translate into 31 HR’s and 117 RBI’s for the season. Yeah, have him bat leadoff, and keep Frenchy batting where he can strand runners time and time again. Unless "we" make another move and either trade and/or release Frenchy and get another bat, seems insane to have him leadoff....

After pitching 6 shutout innings in what was supposed to be Tom Glavine's final minor league start before coming up to the big club, they have instead released him!!!! http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9642590...ndary-P-Glavine

Besides lighting gasoline poured down the hill??? I have tried several products, Ortho last year..something you spread around the mound, but don't put water on, and something this year Ace Hardware had(forget the name, used it all up) that was supposedly 25% more powerful than ever...I think it was actually fire ant food, as I now see more ant hills than ever! So, surely someone here has found the key to the death of this nasty creatures??? Surely????

Latest tally has Ibanez 2nd, Manny 5th. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4222195 First post was lost cuz the power went out...anyway...Thank God Manny has dropped and Ibanez is up to #2. He deserves it. I was really hoping the braves would sign him, but he was a leftie(Of course so is Garrett Anderson) and too expensive. And I think people in the organization thought he was too old. Well, Frenchy is 25, but I would sure take old over young in this case. Heres a telling fact to how completely useless the braves outfield is right now. Jeff Francoeur hit a homer May 1st. Anderson hit one May 31st(His first of the year) Guess how many homers were hit in between those days???? 0

I was going to see if Pandora had been mentioned before, silly me, 4 different threads! Thought I might bring this thread back and give Jim and the fellers a few pennies at least! I "discovered" this site about 6 months ago, mentioned on a baseball forum of all things. I'd be curious to here how much it has evolved since people first found it. I have slowly added stations...at first just had a Bunny Berigan and Megadeth. Now I have Miff Mole, Jimmy Dorsey, Drain STH, Cranberries. Something for whatever mood I am in. Jazzwise, I haven't found anything yet I either didn't already have, or had to have, but strangely enough the Drain STH station(A Swedish all Girl hard rock band) has introduced me to some other female band(Or bands with a female lead singer) that I never heard of before. Seems like the perfect thing for folks that can listen to music at work, but don't want to bother with bringing their music in.... Ha, saw general discussion...didn't see where it was...no one will find this thread here!

Damn, took you guys long enough to respond! Damn again...sounds like the Ellington one was the one of the 4 to get and its already out of print in the U.S. , and it was only released here last July??? Way to give a release a change to sell!

Was doing a search of Fats Waller, from the low to high price, then decided to check out low to high box sets, and came across this. http://www.amazon.com/Best-Fats-Waller/dp/...5075&sr=1-2 At first, I thought no way it was a box set. $8.98??(Edit, it says $10.98, perhaps I am losing my mind) And from RCA??? But, it is. Here is a a Louis Armstrong hot 5 and 7 set, that is 4 cds, $11.98 If you look down the page, you will also see A Glenn Miler set, Billy Holiday, Ellington....That seems to be all of them. Holiday and Ellington already out of print and the used price is already climbing. Who cares you say??? Just one of millions of best of sets??? For newbies only??? Could be, but the blurb makes me wonder what's on them.... Product Description 2008 four CD set. The Original Masters series presents some of the finest recordings by many of the true Jazz legends originally signed to the RCA and Sony labels. With hits, favorites, album tracks, rarities and more, these collections are solid samplers for the aficionados and astounding introductions to those interested in investigating the roots of Jazz.
