That was one of the worst losses in a long time...well, back to last year at least! Seriously the bullpen is not as bad as you saw. Peter Moylan was great in 2007, 1.82 ERA, but he had Tommy John surgery 11 months ago! Really should be rehabbing in AAA. And Booby had said he wasn't going to pitch on back to back nights, and was warming up in each game, but just pitched today. In his feeble little brain if you don't come in a game, you didn't do a thing to stress your arm. And the one Loogy(Gonzo can't count, he's the closer) O'Flaherty ...he got 4 outs yesterday, then came in today. Not smart. 8 guys in the bullpen. Campillo is really a starter,(3.91 ERA in 25 starts last year) did nothing to lose the job this year, just have too many starters right now. He walked 2 in less than an inning today, 38 last year in 158 innings. Blaine Boyer and Moylan have 3 ### in place of E.R.A. stats, that can't be good! Should have re-signed Will Ohman, but the brain trust must really feel great about saving that 1 + million I don't know where we will end up...all the talk about the Marlins this year, how people think they have the best starters in the NL East...they may once again end up in first. Well, the playoffs, they usually get in via the wildcard, right???? No one else really has that good of a rotation(Braves would if Tommy Hanson was in the ML, instead of AAA)

Exactly. I'm not going to hit the panic button on CC based on a crappy April outing. Truth be told, the bullpen blowing NY's bid to take the game back bothered me more. A ghost sighting in the a baseball thread! thought you had forgotten about the game!

Poverty sucks----and I'm sooo tired of it....
BERIGAN replied to fasstrack's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
fasstrack, I wish I could offer some really swell advice...but, I have never been rich either....One thought I had though. Are you in NYC??? Have you thought of moving elsewhere, where say rent, taxes, etc, aren't so high?? And with cities having less revenue come in these days, only means higher taxes for all, and more enforcement of parking tickets and so forth. I saw a story about a month ago on Houston and how they were still doing pretty good job wise, how the cost of living was much less than in other big cities. Can't seem to find it now, it was on ABC news. Here's a story on the big winners and losers in the job market. Of course, New York has the most workers, but it's at the bottom for job losses. http://houston.bizjournals.com/houston/sto...02/daily50.html Sounds like from what I have read, that education, like the health care field are still job growth areas, so that's good new for you. Good luck in the future!!!! -
Remember guys, CC had a terrible April last year. 1-4, 7.76 ERA.

He got cute out-thinking himself. Lowe gets in his head, and that was obvious from the first pitch he saw. I just hope he has a short memory, because he hit the shit out of the ball all spring (and he's my 1B in fantasy). Wasn't it against Mike Gonzalez though??? He threw a ton of sliders to him, and more and more pitchers will throw something offspeed even with a full count.

I was, I was! But, I only saw them as highlights, who expects all that action early on??? I thought I could eat and get back in time for a 1-1 game in the 4th...

Huh???? Updated Friday, March 27th 2009, 2:38 AM TRENTON - A 14-year-old New Jersey girl has been accused of child pornography after posting nearly 30 explicit nude pictures of herself on MySpace.com — charges that could force her to register as a sex offender if convicted. The case comes as prosecutors nationwide pursue child pornography cases resulting from kids sending nude photos to one another over cell phones and e-mail. Legal experts, though, could not recall another case of a child porn charge resulting from a teen’s posting to a social networking site. MySpace would not comment on the New Jersey investigation, but the company has a team that reviews its network for inappropriate images. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off a state task force, which alerted the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office. The office investigated and discovered the Clifton resident had posted the “very explicit” photos of herself, sheriff’s spokesman Bill Maer said Thursday. “We consider this case a wake-up call to parents,” Maer said. The girl posted the photos because “she wanted her boyfriend to see them,” he said. More

Psst, TD... he did!, 6 paragraphs from the bottom. The pitcher widely acknowledged to have thrown harder than anyone in modern baseball history, Steve Dalkowski, never made it to the big leagues because of wildness.

I meant to bring up Stephen Strasburg before....sounds like if he can stay healthy, he will be something special! Here is something I wrote about him a few days ago on a braves blog... They were just talking about Stephen Strasburg on baseball tonight. A scout not given to hyperbole told Buster Olney that he is the best pitching prospect….ever! And it’s not even close! Someone else told him that he could go right to the big leagues, and be a number 2, now! Better than AJ Burnett is now!!! Of course, Satan is his "advisor" Still, I want to see this kid pitch in the bigs this year! Nationals have the first pick . A recent story, then one from last year… I guess I heard wrong, not just the best pitching prospect, but best prospect, period!!! 92 to 94 MPH slider??? 102 MPH fastball WITH movement???? Hope he doesn’t blow his arm out!!!!! http://blogcritics.org/archives/2009/03/12/000518.php http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...8081303424.html

I assume the other nations are still playing in their leagues in November and December??? Otherwise it would seem to make more sense to do this that time of year. Hey, do you have a Lizabeth Scott cd, or just a Lizabeth Scott Avatar??? I nearly bought a cd of hers...if you have it, do you like it???

Too bad he isn't as smart while on the lam, as he is getting away from the authorities!!! ‘Little Houdini,’ fugitive who shut down KSU, captured in Fla. By CHRISTIAN BOONE The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Monday, March 16, 2009 Christopher Daniel Gay was apprehended Monday morning in Lakeland, Fla., just 13 days after the shackled and cuffed thief slipped out of a patrol car parked outside a Kennesaw Waffle House. It was the third time he’d escaped police custody this decade. Gay’s exploits earned him the nickname “Little Houdini,” and he’s even had a country music song written about him. Gay, 34, is now held in the Polk County, Fla., jail. He might still be at large if not for his penchant for really grand theft. After eluding the manhunt in Georgia — authorities shut down Kennesaw State University and halted traffic while police dogs tried in vain to track him — Gay stole a tractor-trailer and used it to pilfer a front-end loader from a construction site in central Florida. He was arrested in the 18-wheeler Monday at a Wal-Mart in Lakeland — with the earth-moving machine still on board. Once charged in Florida, Gay faces theft and escape charges in Tennessee and Georgia. Lakeland, midway between Tampa and Orlando, was the backdrop for Gay’s most brazen crime back in January 2007. He showed up at a racetrack in country singer Crystal Gayle’s tour bus, which had allegedly been stolen. Gay told track officials he was there to pick up NASCAR star Tony Stewart. Gay was arrested soon after in Daytona Beach. That incident came on the heels of what remains Gay’s signature escape, also in January 2007. While being transported to Alabama to face charges for stealing a recreational vehicle, Gay sneaked away from a pair of policemen at a rest stop in South Carolina. Gay stole a pickup and drove it nearly 300 miles northwest to Manchester, Tenn., where he allegedly took a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer loaded with thousands of dollars of merchandise. News reports at the time said Gay was headed to visit his mother, who was dying of cancer. He ditched the truck in her front yard, then dashed off into the woods. That inspired Grammy-winning songwriter Tim O’Brien. His song, sung to the tune of Woody Guthrie’s “Pretty Boy Floyd,” preserves Gay’s place in the outlaw Hall of Fame. “Stole a pickup in Carolina, then a Wal-Mart truck with 18 wheels. He drove toward his dyin’ mama in the Cheatham County hills. And it’s down those lanes and back roads the police made their chase. And he almost made her trailer, he almost saw her face.” Two weeks later, the Associated Press reported, Gay’s mother died of cancer. http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/cob...age_tab_newstab

I have to say, I was caught off guard with the Pudge signing....why's that??? Oh yes, now I remember....way back in the A.M. hours of the 16th, I saw this on mlbtraderumors.com Astros: Richard Justice thinks the team should try to sign Pudge and Pedro Martinez for less than $5MM total. MLB.com's Alyson Footer on Friday: "After checking with Ed Wade yet again today, I can assure you the Astros are not pursuing him. And judging from the irritated look on his face, I can also assure you I won't be asking him about Pudge again anytime soon." SI.com's Jon Heyman mentioned Houston in his Friday Pudge column. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/03/ivan-rodrigue-1.html

Man, give me something tough someday! Ten percent to 15% of newborns spend time in special care nurseries or in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). Over 500,000 infants each year spend some time in the NICU, with an average NICU stay of 17 days and an average of 14 invasive procedures each day.[2] All newborns, even those who are healthy, experience invasive procedures, such as a heel lance for newborn screening and an intramuscular injection for administration of vitamin K. NICU babies undergo even more numerous and invasive procedures, such as heel lancing, venipuncture, suctioning, injections, and intubation, all of which are associated with pain and inflammation. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/558582
