  1. Larry, thanks for the trip dowm memory lane....wish I could have seen some of that but I'll take what I can get. Stu Katz is a great guy and very good player of both vibes and piano...told me some nice stories of when he bought his first bebop records. Funny about the "organ" story as well. I wonder of b3er carries a photo of his organ around?
  2. Thanks Larry, I will put that on the cover of my upcoming book...... Actually I love the cover of your book! m
  3. The show was excellent; primarily standards/classic by Ellington, Coltrane and so on but the guy can still play.. David switched between tenor and alto often...first time I can recall him not playing flute at least once. The club was packed during the 1st set...a little less so during the second. David is a classy guy! m~
  4. Happy Birthday David.....to a friend and fellow hoosier!!!
  5. ...a few photos of Fathead performing in Indy tonight.

  8. When someone pays you via paypal....how do you direct that payment into your checking account? m~
  9. Sergio Gomez lived in Indy for a time...very sad to read about this yesterday. m~
  10. I believe he is making a stand because you are purposely doing it to irritate him and only for this reason. That said, I would use the ignore function and move on with the more important things in life. m~
  11. Hmmmmmmmm................... ...why am I always taking photos of shiny headed guitar players?
  12. I'm sure one of these photoshop "geeks" can put some hair on him!!!
  13. Fathead Newman this Saturday night, Mel Rhyne next Wednesday and Slide Hampton on the 17th! m~
  14. Mark, any way you can post/link it? Thanks Erik....and hi there Sal......I don't have a link to the actual page but this is the photograph. It was taken at this years Chicago Jazz Fest as John played with MMW. It is used along with an interview of Sco by DB contributor Eric Bishop in the current issue (with Stanley Clarke on the cover). m~
  15. I have a scanner but I doubt it can print from negatives (and yes I am talking about negatives not undeveloped film)- do you know if all scanners can do this? I also have the impression that printing from negatives gives a superior image to scanning negatives and then printing from them - do you have an opinion on that? anyway, I don't want to buy a new scanner just for a few rolls of negatives. But thanks for the creative idea. Certainly every generation away from the original negative would yield a poorer quality print and you're really starting with a small negative and the larger print you make....the fuzzier it becomes....that said, thank god it not one of those disc negatives that had about a dozen pencil erasure size negs on a cardboard wheel....what a mess....actually the size is pretty close! I'll ask my lab if they can print them and I'll pm you. Mark~
  16. Well.........yeah! Conn speaks the truth. I'll miss this space - it always seemed like a good combination of free speech without heavyhanded moderation. Must be a LOT of hard work keeping it going - both hardware-wise and software-wise. As far as live chats, Google has some sort of "Chats" module as part of their GMail service. I haven't tried it out, but it might be worth looking into. For that matter, we could probably start a "Google Group" that could function as a message board without the hardware/software headaches of something like this. I sent my email to Chris, BTW. Hey Conn, don't sell yourself short, you can annoy people in many different ways
  17. I just flat out refuse to go....even if they shut it down...I'm staying right here m~
  18. ...about what?
  19. Roy Hargrove @ the Dakota in Minneapolis.
  20. ...that's why I said "shit happens". Unfortunately injuries are part of the game and certainly have a say in how many games play out. Very tough for any team to lose a bunch of starters for several games in a row and win them all....expecially against a team like the Pats/Colts. Losing your #1 receiver and a couple of your starting offensive linemen plus three other starters is not good....plus that hack Vinatieri they picked up in the off season is killing them ! m
  21. Matthew Shipp....
  22. ...drummer? What's a drummer?............ ..........
  23. ..and one of Fred Anderson in the old Velvet Lounge. m
