I think I read just yesterday that most of these are fake.

  16. There is the annual West Coast Jazz event put on by Ken Poston and the LA Jazz Institute this Thursday-Sunday. I'll be there from Friday-Sunday....if anyone from the LA area is attending, send me a PM http://lajazzinstitute.org/images/e.pdf I went to the event last year as well and had a great time. Fun event to attend if you like WCJ and the opportunity to chat with the musicians. Mark~
  17. Yep, nothing like Chris's "opinion" to make Valerie & George feel that much better. Nothing like editorial opinions to help bolster a thread filled with good cheer, good wishes, and yes, prayer. Just because you don't believe in prayer doesn't make it unneccesary, any more than me believing in prayer makes it necessary. Here's a clue, Chris: THIS AIN'T ABOUT YOU. You could've very easily made your point just with the second half of your statement. my sentiments, exactly!! but that's "consistent chris"! always with the negative, like clock-work. Count me in with well wishes for a speedy recovery! He was supposed to play with the Cookers last month in Chicago and was replaced due to illness.
  18. Sonny looks very happy to be with you!
  19. I caught Sonny and his sextet live in Portland Friday night. The old man seemed to be having a good time and I thought he played great. Clifton Anderson on trombone, Bob Cranshaw on bass, Willie Jones on drums, and I didn't catch the names of the guitarist and the congos/percussion guy. They played for nearly two hours, and Sonny appeared full of energy. Particularly nice version of "In a Sentimental Mood." Bobby Broom
  20. Here are a few shots from tonights show in Indy.....lots of fun with several tunes played from the new cd "Prog".... m
  21. They are here in Indy tomorrow night....will post some phtos if I get a chance. m~
  22. I saw him 2 years ago and he was good. He got decent reviews for a recent show in London. He doesn't do as much uptempo material as he used to, but he was still great on ballads. If I was in NYC, I would probably go just to see a legend. (He is a lot shorter than I imagined.) I saw him at the same show referenced above.....thought he was good and glad I got to be there. m
