  1. Chris, What's the motive behind the stabbing, not that people need them these days? While I was in nyc last month, I rode cabs, busses and subways non stop, never felt concerned for my safety except when the bus driver stopped real quick on day one of my visit and threw one of the female passengers five seats forward; she was out cold!!! I'm sure I was in your neck of the woods as well (central park west?) and thought it was great! m~
  2. Don't know why she would get a divorce....she looks like a fireball!
  3. ...nothing wrong with that!!! Have a great day!!!
  4. I don't have any that were a dissapointment or that I don't listen to and I have the Hamilton as well. I wish I had the Washington most likely will still pick it up. Mark~
  5. Tony blew the roof off the place! This guy is a force of nature. I have no other way to describe him. His guitarist was out so he joined up with a local guitarist who did a pretty good job. He didn't do much comping but handled the solos really well. He didn't even know the lines to "Mellow Mood," but he was an excellent soloist. But when Tony plays, no other instrument can be heard outside of the drums. He just fills the room. He makes all kinds of facial contortions and plays every note with his face as well as with his hands. Often, he bends down over the keys and you can only see the top of his head. His playing style is very intense and he gives it 100%. I've got to see him again. Outstanding player. If there is a better B-3 player out there, I've got to see it. I think he's better than Joey D. Another thing which has been mentioned before, by Joe amongst others: Tony is very humble. He hugs everyone and compliments the other musicians when they do great solos. He's a very genuine guy and absolutely loves what he does. Great guy. If he comes anywhere to your town, see him. ........like this?? This was from a show last year in Indy. I'll see him again in a couple weeks...can wait!!! Here is a link to his site that he sent me, showing me that he used some photographs I made. Like Paul said, don't miss him if he comes your way. http://b3monaco.com m~

    John Handy

I would agree, saw Handy doing a Downbeat Blindfold test last year in Monterey and he indicated as much.....very funny guy as well. m~
  7. I didn't want to be the first to say it outloud!
  8. I'll be there for the whole shootin' match. Ira has been a mainstay during Jazz Fest week and most likely will be again. An addition to the festival is our own Larry Kart.............performing with Lee Konitz!!! On Thursday, August 31, former Chicago Tribune jazz critic and author of Jazz In Search Of Itself, Larry Kart, will join this year's Chicago Jazz Festival Artist-in-Residence, Lee Konitz, at 5:00 p.m. in a discussion of Konitz's long and fabled career, followed by a rare solo saxophone performance. The event is free and will take place at the Chicago Cultural Center, Preston Bradley Hall (78 E. Washington). Call 312-744-6630 or visit www.chicagoculturalcenter.org for more information. m~
  9. ...not sure I'd want to store anything real important on it! m~
  10. I love Chris Foreman!!!
  11. Didn't she release a popular video a couple of years ago that displayed her talents? Yes, with night vision goggles she looked like a racoon eating a banana. m~
  12. Sorry that I didn't take notes, but they delved into a number of swing era tunes as well as their patented version of avant-garde jazz. I was busy sitting on the side of the stage and walking around the crowd at this outdoor event. This week's Riverbend Festival offers only Al DiMeola (yawn...). ...YAWN indeed!
  13. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
  14. OMG, a curtain blew in the house!
  15. Haven't seen them but I would in a heartbeat!!! m~
  16. ...up until a couple days ago, you could have found one from about $2500.00 for an original print, depending on size but I'm sure they are moving up as we speak. You can find posters in various shops (allposters.com) for much less~~ Mark
  17. ...it just bugs the shit out of some people when they see someone believe in something they don't get/won't get/can't get/ have no desire to get......they just can't let it go and get on with life.... It's like that popcorn kernel you can't get out of your tooth! If I like something/believe in something (Jesus or atheism for the sake of this particular thread), it has zero importance to me if someone agrees or not! Let it go!!! I'm not ripping on Alexander because I appreciate his input on Organissimo and although it may have been posed as a "non-smartass" questioned, I think it was a poke at the believers on the board. m~
  18. I don't really think it was a questions as much as trying to poke holes in something he doesn't believe in....but very good answer anyway. m~
  19. Red is going to be in Indianapolis in another three weeks, I look forward to seeing/hearing him. m~
  20. Very sad news!!! Arnold was one of my favorites and his style of portraiture is my favorite. R.I.P.! m~
  21. I have to think, "gee, does this guy know anything about religion at all? In other words, if The Nation was that concerned about the situation, then by all means, they should write an article. But it does not have to be an article that condescends and is offensive to me and my faith. ...while I'm certainly not a bible thumper and stay away from religious fueds, I agree with this statement 100%! I've probably seen more Christian bashing on this board than anywhere other than Iraq !!! That said, I come here for the jazz!!! m~ m~
  22. ...am I the only one that finds her un-attractive??? m~
  23. Have a great one, Ray!!!
  24. ...very sad indeed. Photographed him a few years ago and got to chat with him for a bit. He's been one of the judges for the APA (American Pianists Association) over the past few years and is pretty good friends with one of my indy jazz fest contacts.
