  2. I'm going to have to place an order for this one very soon. I have never heard Conquistador, in any format. I've been on a Cecil kick recently (Nailed is playing right now) and I'm itching to hear this music for the first time. I'll be sending the bill for "added cd buying expenses based on hard to resist review" to your attention, Jim.

I am enjoying it, but it is suffering in comaprison with Nailed and Brewing Luminous.

Hold on tight, things are about to go crazy... Wow...I thought Brewing Luminous was an intense CT experience. Nailed is fantastic...extremely dense music, very intense and very rewarding.

Wonderful, wonderful disc! This one has exceeded my high expectations. Very highly recommended.
  8. This album is fantastic! Has anyone else had a chance to listen to a copy yet? I am very impressed after one listen.
  9. You won't go above $71? I will, just not right now. As much as I would like to have this set I found it hard to justify spending the money after all of my recent purchases were added up.
  10. I'm out. Good luck on getting a high return on this one jacknife!

I'm listening to Cecil Taylor's The Willisau Concert right now. I am really enjoying this disc. Very lyrical, by Cecil's standards.
  12. The $51 bid would be me, so I am hoping it doesn't jump too much more! I should have picked up this set years ago but still haven't heard most of the music it contains.

Is anyone here familar with Noah Howard? I heard this disc for the first time today and enjoyed it enough to look into more of his work. I was not blown away on first listen and was wondering how representative of the rest of his work this set is. Those who do not like vocalizations with their jazz are advised to pass on this disc.

One of only three dates Denis Charles led before he passed away. A fantastic live set recorded in 1991, this has been OOP but was recently reissued by Eremite. Highly recommended!

Great disc! Any time I get a chance to hear Hamid Drake stretch out I am happy. I've been meaning to give that one and Emancipation Proclamation with Joe McPhee a listen sometime soon.

another new purchase and, again, very highly recommended. This is an incredibly alive and joyful album. It took me a while to warm up to the first track, in partiular, but I have listened to Snurdy a few times since it arrived and I am loving this music.

You must rectify that asap. Vietnam... is a fantastic disc! Very highly recommended.

This one also arrived this weekend...I love these Hat midprice sales! I have no idea why AMG would describe this set as a "full frontal attack on the senses." I found it to be surprisingly lyrical, for a violin / drums duet. Between this disc and Vietnam: the Aftermath, I am increasingly impressed with Billy Bang's work.

I just got this one in the mail on Saturday. What a great performance! Cecil and Jimmy Lyons are both on fire.
  23. I started with Riding the Nuclear Tiger and loved it immediately. I have enjoyed all of his albums that I have heard bu RTNT is still my favorite.

I also finally listened to this one, and I found it quite nice. Nothing groundbreaking -tunefull energetic "classic" free jazz, but stiull a nice sincere music, and a lot of fun. That is an accurate description of this one, imo. Very solid. I have Back Together Again pre-ordered, so I will hopefully be able to comment on it this week.
