  1. a few more I thought of: Supersilent 6 The Vandermark 5 - Airports For Light Martin Siewert/Martin Brandlmayr - Too Beatiful To Burn Ellery Eskelin – Arcanum moderne and for reissues: Reverend Charlie Jackson - God's Got It

...and a good cover!! I actually don't have it - I will, of course get it sooner or later. The next Brötzmann I plan to buy is THIS ONE. It's on excellent Italian Splasc(H) lable. I really dig Ultima and Remember to Forget, the two discs he recorded with William Parker and Hamid Drake.

The Music Resource, based on my previous experience, is very slow, but delivers.

    Funny Rat

The "needing" to pick it up would be a difficult call. I don't own a ton of Brotzmann so I'm glad to have Funny Rat. I'll let you know what I think of Dare Devil after it arrives and I have a few listens. (It's a slightly pricey import so if you can get it cheap now, you may want to jump.) It is also pretty pricey at the local brick and mortar ($20ish) but they had it on sale for 40% off last time I looked. If you don't already have it grab the new Brotz on Eremeite - Never Too Late But Always too Early w/ William Parker and Hamid Drake. That set smokes from start to finish.
  5. I've recently heard a few more 2003 discs which will definitely make my "best of year" list: Rabih Abou-Khalil - Morton's Foot. Another outstanding disc. I need to get all of his discs that I am missing. Amplify 2002 Box Set - definitely not for everyone but, for those with a more adventurous disposition, essential listening. Fennesz - Live in Japan

This disc has been on my radar screen since it came out but I have been undecided on needing to pick it up. How is Daredevil? I have heard very mixed reviews of that one, but know where I can probably still pick up a reasonably priced copy locally. (strangely enough, in this area...)

    Anthony Braxton

I'll second the recommendation for the Quintet (Basel) 1977 disc on Hat. Last time I checked JazzLoft had it on clearance for around $10.
  8. @#%&!!! I saw your post after 12...Damn! thanks for the heads-up.
  9. tough call but I had to go with Booker over RRK.
  10. a label that hasn't been mentioned yet is Eremite. They are releasing some consistently amazing discs. I would also list Okkadisc, Atavistic and the Atavistic Unheard Music Series in addition to what has already been mentioned.
  11. Joe McPhee - Tenor and Fallen Angel Complete Stax / Volt Singles disc 8 Myra Melford / Han Bennink - Eleven Ghosts Anouar Brahem - Astrakan Cafe Thomas Mapfumo - Live at El Rey
  12. I've been curious about Sunna Gunnlaugs for a while now based on a few things I've read about her music online. AMG describes her as crossing piano jazz with Icelandic folk with some "bizarre sounds" and experimental music thrown in. I'm really not to sure what to make of all that so I was wondering if anyone here had heard any of her albums and could comment on her music.
  13. I have an extra copy of Kenny Drew's Undercurrent BN Collector's Choice CD. If anyone is interested in buying it or trading for it send me a PM. I would sell for $6 or trade for anything reasonable that I don't have.
  14. Art Pepper - Hollywood Allstar Sessions discs 1,2,5 Sonny Clark - Dial "S" for Sonny Horace Silver - Song for My Father Rabih Abou-Khalil - Tarab Bill Laswell - Charged Live Rowe / Tilbury - Duos for Doris disc 1 Amplify 2002 - discs 3 and 4 No Neck Blues Band - Intonomancy Ozric Tentacles - Live Ethereal Cereal Ozric Tentacles - There is Nothing Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles Egghunt - s/t
  15. Amplify 2002 Box Set disc 1 – v/a Amplify 2002 Box Set disc 2- Günter Müller/Toshimaru Nakamura: tint Dexter Gordon - Our Man in Paris Jackie McLean - Demon's Dance Dave Holland - Conference of the Birds Best of Thomas Mapfumo Estrellas De Areito - Los Heroes Ozric Tentacles – Tantric Obstacles
  16. I think it is going to be interesting to hear reactions from people who really dislike some of the tracks. (JSngry's promise to "offend" comes to mind.) It would be boring if we all sort of dug all of the tracks on each BF test.
  17. Rabih Abou-Khalil - Al-Jadida Rabih Abou-Khalil - Tarab Rabih Abou-Khalil - Sultan's Picnic Don Wilkerson - Shoutin' Ozric Tentacles - Erpsongs Ali Farka Toure - Radio Mali No Neck Blues Band - Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones...
  18. sounds good. I think it would be a good thing to get some people who are more "out of the loop" involved as it would hopefully lead to a wider variety of (musical) choices for each test.
  19. the last few albums by Air just make it under the 20 year cut-off. Also, all of the recent Ellery Eskelin discs on Hat have been phenomenal. (I know, accordian instead of bass, but still worth mentioning.)
  20. A bit much for a used copy, perhaps, but here's one at half.com for $10 plus $2.50 in postage. That was the only title you listed that was anywhere close to being a decent price at half.com. BUT, if anybody is looking for 2 cheap copies if "Tarab" (1993) for about $9 each (including postage), then CLICK HERE. Thanks RT! I grabbed that copy. There is also a really cheap copy of tarab on ebay if anyone is interested.
  21. get this one first: and this one next: Vandermark w/ Hamid Drake and Nate McBride doing Sun Ra and Funkadelic covers. Great stuff!
  22. I'm looking for a few discs by Rabih Abou-Khalil: Morton's Foot X Il Sospiro Bukra Yara Nafas Roots & Sprouts Arabian Waltz Between Dusk and Dawn X and was wondering if anyone had some of these for trade or knew of a reasonably priced distributor for these in the U.S.? I don't believe that Enja has any distribution over here right now, but I could be wrong. thanks! X - thanks to the kindness of others I now have leads on these titles.
  23. another favorite, although non-jazz:
  24. If I recall correctly the back cover of that Cows disc mentions ripping off the concept from Reid Miles. Here's a non-BN one: Archie Shepp Windy And Carl
