  2. sounds good. I think it would be a good thing to get some people who are more "out of the loop" involved as it would hopefully lead to a wider variety of (musical) choices for each test.
  3. the last few albums by Air just make it under the 20 year cut-off. Also, all of the recent Ellery Eskelin discs on Hat have been phenomenal. (I know, accordian instead of bass, but still worth mentioning.)
  4. A bit much for a used copy, perhaps, but here's one at half.com for $10 plus $2.50 in postage. That was the only title you listed that was anywhere close to being a decent price at half.com. BUT, if anybody is looking for 2 cheap copies if "Tarab" (1993) for about $9 each (including postage), then CLICK HERE. Thanks RT! I grabbed that copy. There is also a really cheap copy of tarab on ebay if anyone is interested.
  5. get this one first: and this one next: Vandermark w/ Hamid Drake and Nate McBride doing Sun Ra and Funkadelic covers. Great stuff!
  6. I'm looking for a few discs by Rabih Abou-Khalil: Morton's Foot X Il Sospiro Bukra Yara Nafas Roots & Sprouts Arabian Waltz Between Dusk and Dawn X and was wondering if anyone had some of these for trade or knew of a reasonably priced distributor for these in the U.S.? I don't believe that Enja has any distribution over here right now, but I could be wrong. thanks! X - thanks to the kindness of others I now have leads on these titles.
  7. another favorite, although non-jazz:
  8. If I recall correctly the back cover of that Cows disc mentions ripping off the concept from Reid Miles. Here's a non-BN one: Archie Shepp Windy And Carl
  9. Free For All gets my vote for #1 choice. also - Slint - Spiderland Black Flag - Damaged Ramones - Its Alive Misfits - Walk Among Us Fugazi - Repeater and most of the discs on Erstwhile need a lot of volume in order to hear a lot of the detail. This usually requires me to use headphones as my wife can't tolerate any Erst disc I've played so far.
  10. the best band name I ever saw was The Reverend Pimp Daddy and his Deacons of Love.
  11. I can never rank my favorites discs as they are all so very different. It is comparing apples to oranges. I love all of them for different reasons.

  19. there is a button above the space you type your main message labelled "IMG." you would click on that button and paste the URL of an image you found on the web and the image would appear in the body of your text. to get image/text/image/text you would: type some text, hit Enter click on the IMG button and paste the address of your image hit Enter type some more text hit Enter click on the IMG button again, etc...
  20. Bev - your post above is missing the .jpg at the end of the address. Also, the directions Chaney gave will only work for an image you find on the web or an image that is being hosted by Organissimo (such as your avatar.) It will not work for an image on your hard drive.
  21. Jimmy Smith - at Club Baby Grand vol. 2 Jimmy Smith - The Sermon McCoy Tyner - The Real McCoy Trio Hurricane - Live at Fire in the Valley Spaceways Incorporated - Thirteen Cosmic Standards

I already own Baby Grand vol.1 and 2, Cool Blues and Root Down and was wondering what other live Jimmy Smith discs have similar fire and are essential next discs to explore?
