  1. OH NO!!!! This means they're going to get anti-gravity before we do!!
  2. I know it doesn't make a difference with the sound, however, I do prefer the blue & white disks. I just like 'em better. YES! Count me in as a Blue & White Label man. Once you get it, you don't want it taken away.
  3. Blue Spirits--Freddie Hubbard
  4. You lucky dog! Congrats! Recently spun the Ellington Time/Life Giants of Jazz, sides 2 thru 5. Then Walkin'---Miles Davis.
  5. I see I have some company in the "More than 20" category. Thank God. Actually I'm in the Brad category: More than 20 (x2). Gulp!
  6. One calender year=1.5 tenor years. That means Rollins is 111 in tenor years. It's amazing he can even walk.
  7. Very right. (Add Desmond and Artie Shaw in the 'tone' category and I'm with you 100%.)
  8. I just got Blue Spirits---excellent album! So far "Outer Forces" and "Jodo" are my favorite tracks. Very glad they re-issued this.
  9. Another mention for Paul Desmond.
  10. I keep waiting for a 2 disc set...like Casablanca...they got my money for the first 1 disc Casablanca, they won't get me to buy Maltese Falcon twice! Those bastards!!! (Kind of like Dusty Groove...)
  11. I thought it was: Which well-known jazz guitarist from the 60's has a name that corresponds to a mixture of blue and yellow and rhymes with "jean." (It was one of the giveaways.)
  12. Tom Wilson also produced the early albums of The Velvet Underground and Frank Zappa. The guy was phenomenal.
  13. Yeah, we got the answer to #83, but not the question.
  14. Wow, we're almost up to 300,000 posts? Amazing. Just imagine how many it would be if the site were up all the time. It boggles the mind.
  15. You are one lucky moose!
  16. Maybe Giddins got out just in time...
  17. Anybody got The Maltese Falcon on DVD? I finally snapped it up. One of my favorite movies.
  18. Winogrand was great! So was Eisentaedt. Other favorites of mine are Walker Evans (of course), Eugene Atget, Andre Kertesz, Lee Friedlander, Marion Post Wolcott, and Elliot Erwitt.
  19. Wow---96! RIP King Kong is one of RKO's best films. They used to show it on TV all the time when I was going up.
  20. I don't have Blue Spirits, so I'm looking forward to that. Looks good!
  21. That double-album reprint that includes the Ellington/Coltrane album and the one he did with Coleman Hawkins. Great music, lousy cover.
  22. That was the difference between Cartier-Bresson and the rest of us. The expression 'The Decisive Moment' defined this Master! I rank in the top 3 photographer that ever lived. Who are the other two, in your opinion? (Just curious.)
  23. Anybody got the Peggy Lee Properbox?
  24. Definitely worthwhile getting all of the previous and subsequent volumes IMO. One of the greatest Ellington bands, great selection of Ellingtonia/songs and good sound quality. Even the announcements and bond promos make for interesting listening. Thanks. I'll have to give them a try.
