My favorite: "Minimize all noise." I can actually get on board with that one.
Sure, show that to any and all prospective girlfriends/potential mates; it'll do two things for you:
1) Allow you to stay a bachelor all your life, and
2) Very well get you killed.
Good luck!
Basin Street got my vote. But Study In Brown is great too; REALLY great. They're all essential, IMHO.
Brownie, Brownie. Even Philip Larkin, who loathed bop, had to give Brownie his due.
You the man! Come to SF sometime and see a game in Pacbell Park (or whatever they're calling it now.) The new ballpark downtown. It's right by the water; you'd love it!
Several of "The Cat" cartoons were reprintied in "Weirdo" magazine (edited by Robert Crumb) about 15-20 years ago. I've been eagerly awaiting a definitive compilation of this work ever since. The publication of Cat On A Hot Thin Groove was like a dream come true. Any dedicated jazz fan, particularly one who began collecting jazz on vinyl, can see a little (lot?) of themselves in The Cat.
