  1. I've been a Chopin fan since high school.
  2. The short-haired blond kid was a riot!
  3. Dear God in heaven, the Organissimo Jazz Board has been around for six years? Holy 'time-sure-goes-by-fast' Batman!
  4. Dave Brubeck Quartet---The Riddle (vinyl)
  5. I should spin a few Cannonball discs in honor of the occasion!
  6. Loved his turn in Donnie Darko. And by all account a very nice guy. Sad news. RIP
  7. A great list, that. I would add only Alfie and maybe you should check out The Bridge as well.
  8. I always thought Glen Campbell was nothing more than "Rhinestone Cowboy." I guess I'm dumb.
  9. Just came in the mail: Dave Brubeck Quartet---In Europe and The Great Concerts Listening to the first one now.
  10. Saw the latest episode of Mad Men last night. Those damn penny-pinching Brits! And the return of Duck!

    Holy crap!! Happy Birthday guys!
  17. Fine book. Not long ago I finished my third (at least) re-reading. Was struck this time by all the musical attention he gives to Ringo. Quite insightfully so, too, as far as this non-musician can tell. (Y'know, I actually had a nightmare a few nights ago in which I bought the "Past Masters" singles comp and it somehow didn't have "Rain" on it. Shows where my subconscious is, I guess.)
  18. President Yo La Tengo/New Wave Hot Dogs (2-fer) Hawaiian Steel Guitar Classics 1927-1938 (Arhoolie) Mingus At Antibes (the CD; I've had the vinyl version for more years than I care to think about)
  19. Doesn't Ellen DeGeneres already have her own talk show? I think TV performers should be limited to one show at a time.
  20. This is bad news, but I can console myself that I long ago got the ones I really wanted from that list. The rest I can pretty much live without.
  21. I finally took the Netflix plunge about six weeks ago, after thinking about it for the last couple of years. It's worked out well so far.
  22. Just watched the original 1978 Italian "Inglorious Bastards" on DVD. Interesting.
  23. ...And it still seems so young.
  24. Pap---I love that Sonny Criss "Complete Imperial Sessions" package. I guess you could call it a "three-fer."
