  4. Curtis Mayfield- People Get Ready
  5. $8.39 at cd Universe as preorders. $7.99 at alldirect.com if your willing to wait awhile. Seems reasonable to me.
  6. Just gave Chromatic Palette a spin for the first time in about a year. Advanced indeed!

    John Handy

This is a killer album. Alice in Wonderland is beautiful. On the other side of the coin Booker Ervin and John Handy do some serious blowing on No Private Income Blues. I've been listening to that song constantly for weeks trying to cop some of Booker's licks. BUY THIS ALBUM. You won't regret it!
  8. I saw three volumes the other day, Beatles, Bacharach, and Stevie Wonder. Hey, if nothing else these might make a great gift. I wouldn't mind a set to use as drink coasters.
  9. The truth hurts sometimes. Hell, they don't even need a championship team as an excuse. Don't the locals usually raise a bit of a ruckus on Halloween?
  10. Yeah, you and Jimmy Kimmel! B)
  11. "Can you feel the spirit?" Brother Ray, it's still coming through loud and clear. RIP. God Bless Your Soul....
  12. Clem, I really wasn't trying to call you out. As a matter of fact I was rather enjoying your debate. Chalk up my remark, to a rather warped sense of humor brought on by sleep deprivation. What can I say, I get a little punchy sometimes. Hey, I'm pretty much with you, Southern Soul/R&B is "where it's at". That being said, I do enjoy the pop craftmenship and the highly stylized approach that was the "Motown Sound". By all means gentlemen, resume your discussion. Otis, My Man!
  13. Just pulled an all-nighter and read Sweet Soul Music again. What a wonderful book! P.S. A lot of chest-thumping going on in this thread. Can you say gorillas in the mist? B)
  14. Yeah that song got my attention. I see a beer commercial in her future. I'm more of a Shelby Lynne fan myself.
  15. Barry is the man! I really like his book on bassline comping. I need to pick up the "solo" book you mentioned.
  16. Joe Cocker: Mad Dogs & Englishmen (Side 4)
  17. Thought this might be of some interest to guitar players out there. Chord/Melody Arrangements
  18. .......13, 14, and 15!
  19. One of these........So Good!
  20. Before I had any real interest in jazz (or so I thought) Is was buying Miles Davis albums. Sketchs Of Spain, Porgy & Bess, and KOB. Those albums along with a handful of others really encouraged me to pursue more jazz music.
  21. Trey & Co. had a real knack for taking a mediocre 5 minute song and turning it into a really lame 10 minute song.
  22. There's now one less Kelly-Chambers to be had!
