  1. Power was out here (Pacific Grove/Monterey area) for two days; no computer, no music, no 'good' breathing at night (CPAP machine for severe apnea requires electricity).
  2. One track on box, "Blues for Baden," not available in any other form.
  3. Way too many concerts to report from 2007, but I too saw Kronos Quartet (with special guest Glenn Kotche in San Francisco) and Matt Shipp's trio in Santa Cruz.
  4. I assume you guys are talking of Christopher Dell? He's very good indeed! If you have a chance, do check out his own project, DRA (Dell-Ramond-Astor, the names of vibist, bassist and drummer, respectively). I only have several live broadcasts from that trio so far, but I think they have three discs available! As they're getting better and better with the years, I'd go with the latest disc if you intend to buy one. Here's Dells homepage: >http://www.christopher-dell.de/< Thank you!
  5. How about beer named after jazz musicians? I recently had my first "Thelonious."
  6. I bought THINGIN' as well. By the way, Theo J's quartet was a highlight at the Vancouver Jazz Festival three years ago.
  7. Don't have a scanner, but FWIW, 157 is Complete Capitol LIVE Recordings. I do have it, just can't do that much keyboard (rheumatoid arthritis in both wrists).
  8. I've sent you two PMs over the past few hours. Please read?
  9. Stan Kenton COMPLETE CAPITOL STUDIO, 1943-47, currently on Disc 4 of 7.
  10. actually, david, some folks thought at the time that i was prettier than some of the ikettes!! pictures of what i looked like in those days would blow your mind, i think!
  11. i was never an ikette! Now, Val, a new picture of you formed in my head until that sentence!
  12. I was at the Rotterdam North Sea appearance. The video Brownie linked is one we all saw several minutes into the set as his sister and the band coaxed him out of the dressingroom. He stopped "Stand" midway, played and sang "If You Want Me To Stay", then facing the wrong way off his piano stool stared into (space?) for a while, was pointed back to the keyboard, got up, went to the front of the stage and said "I'm an old man. I'm gonna take a fuckin' break" and left for fifteen minutes, eventually returning for a very short set. The tragedy was that the band was absolutely great and his sister still sings very well, but Sly, the 'name' they need, was a mess. If this is indicative of his 'comeback,' he won't get away with it. The room was packed with people (ten thousand) at the beginning and people started leaving early on...
