  1. Sorry, Big Al, but there will be more listed soon...
  2. Only the Teagarden (sealed), Bix Beiderbecke, and Bobby Hackett remain. Don't wait if you're interested.
  3. Mosaics for sale now... I'm reducing list prices by 20% and I'll eat the cost of UPS packing/shipping (usually $22 per set). United States only. Jack Teagarden MD4-218 My price $54 (sealed, on hold) Bix Beiderbecke/Trumbauer/Teagarden MD7-211 (used) My price $90 (on hold) Further questions? Email me: dgitin@mbay.net (or PM here)
  4. Thanks, Chris. It was a pleasure to see (and of course to muse over the subsequent fate of that album with George Russell).
  5. I once made a purchase for a box set of Mingus; seconds after I paid I got a message that the seller was suspended and I shouldn't pay. With much correspondence and hassle following that and no result, I finally had to 'eat' the cost.
  6. If you enjoy what used to be called "West Coast Jazz" (whichever coast it was on), you should try to find Dave Pell's Octet on RCA.
  7. Interesting. I just finished listening to The Best of Hank Crawford and Jimmy McGriff. Fond memories of seeing them, including here in a small club (Monterey) with Clint Eastwood and Diana Krall in the audience.
  8. Agreed. One of my favorites (pre-Trane influence) is SMACK UP, tunes written by saxophonists.
  9. Looking forward to San Francisco concert
  10. Actually, what I meant by the "once" comment is that rather than buy the cd, I might be happy hearing it live the one time. There are many groups I go see (not particularly jazz) that I have no intention of buying music from, but I'm willing to go see them perform. My music collection is getting out of hand, so sometimes it's better to just enjoy the music in the now and let it go. Of course, sometimes seeing someone live does make me buy their music too.
  11. I'll catch a live performance with many of the same folks as part of San Francisco Jazz Festival on May 31.
  12. A Mosaic box was planned and the 'estate' nixed it.
  13. Interested in Konitz and Marsh CDs; I have the 3CD version of MOTION I could trade. Send a message?
  14. Bertrand, I'll catch Wayne with the Imani Winds on Friday, April 11 in San Francisco (Masonic Aud).
  15. Thanks, T.D. and the rest of you for the tip! I've added to my Warne Marsh collection (and Illinois Jacquet, Al Grey-Jimmy Forrest, Howard McGhee-Teddy Edwards).
  16. Perhaps some of you will be interested in the CD by Terry Riley & Michael McClure I LIKE YOUR EYES LIBERTY which includes Terry's remarkable settings for Michael's poetry, issued by Sri Moonshine in 2004. Check out Terry Riley dot com.
  17. Some terrific music on the set; don't let 'sound quality' deter you!
  18. Good actor. His performances were quite memorable.
  19. I don't know, but he was an early friend of "Rhubarb Red" (aka Les Paul) and was responsible for signing Stan Freberg to Capitol.
