I must sell this set, recently purchased, and unplayed. The price was $136 plus shipping; I'll accept $100 and pay for UPS ground shipping in the U.S. only. Thank you.

I heard him play at the Half Note in New York around this time (shortly before he recorded "Lucky Strikes"), a quartet. He was always a favorite of mine. Check out his work with Oscar Pettiford!
You can also hear him (with Kenny Clarke) in the soundtrack for the film "Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" (outstanding film version of Ambrose Bierce's short story).
Delighted to see this discussion of poetry. Some of the folks mentioned were friends of mine (sadly they are gone).

MIKE, Thank you! I was at Newport that year and would never have recalled what she sang. Joe Williams was great that year as I recall (joined by Coleman Hawkins, Clark Terry, Howard McGhee, among others).
I recall one gig in particular from 1977 or 1978 at Keystone Korner in San Francisco where AIR performed. The opening act that night, first gig in a club, was ROVA. Terrific night!
Also attended San Francisco show and I agree with the comments on it. Kaiser almost took a great solo, but Adam H gave him a signal to defer to Robert Irving for a solo!
