  1. Haven't been paying much attention to the season yet. Went to the Cubs/Nationals game this afternoon with work colleagues. I like the increased pace, at least in this instance. Not too herky/jerky, and it didn't look like pitchers were gaming the clock/rules. Only name I recognized was Patrick Corbin who had an excellent outing. Nats win 4-3 on a walk-off homer in the ninth. Took only 1:55 to play, so we had to move to a venue outside the park to continue our business-person's lunch.
  2. Last night, Abdullah Ibrahim and Ekaya at Kennedy Center. Previous scheduled show cancelled due to death of Hugh Masekela. AI played a few long solos, but didn’t interact that much musically w the 6 piece band. Bit of a victory lap, but okay for 88 year old music/civil rights hero.
  3. I took Paxlovid when I caught Covid in late October. Fortunately no metallic mania. Unfortunately, rebound case of Covid a week later. Good luck rooster. Definitely appreciate your dining strategy. May need to try some berbere in a chili batch
  4. I saw both performances of Iphigenia at Kennedy Center. Definitely a finished product. Not aware of any recordings, but you can explore booking the production in your town. Octopus Theatricals

  6. Nice season for the Cleveland ...dians, getting to 90+ wins. Low expectations at season's start and they play in a lousy division. But ChiSox were supposed to roll through the season. Hopefully Kwan gets some decent ROY consideration (...appears somewhere on several ballots...). And that Jose Ramirez continues to earn his status as beloved icon (...in CLE). Terry Francona remains highly talented in working w young players (...and benefits from the Cleveland Clinic being nearby...). Maybe some exciting baseball moments in October in Cleveland. For this year, just a taste is fine.
  7. Should have guessed that. Makes sense
  8. Any idea who is replacing Frank?
  9. For those in the know, any update on this project? Is it a casualty of the recent plague, or perhaps soon coming into bloom?
  10. Was that Barbara Bosson, then wife of show creator Steven Bochco? No chance she was getting written off the show.
  11. Tonight at Kennedy Center, Mark Turner quintet presenting his reflection on The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man. First time experiencing Mr. Turner for me. No idea about personnel.
  12. The WPAS centennial celebration, delayed a year, now premieres virtually this evening (7pm ET) and will be available for a limited time. Details
  13. Fortunately the Guardians are not close to mattering, so I can safely focus on other things (like the young core playing for the Cleveland basketball team).
  14. Are these links already shut down? Or do I need to try a browser besides chrome and edge?
  15. This past weekend saw the Shorter/spalding opera Iphigenia twice at the Kennedy Center. Very briefly spoke to Danilo Perez and John Patitucci afterward, and said hello to Wayne. Glad that he made it to DC for these performances. He received a hearty reception from the audience after each performance.
  16. John Oliver closing bit. 5 minutes total, starting w China creating islands in the sea (skip ahead 90 seconds if you like). Kenny appears to have a sense of humor in that he stifles a few laughs while playing (...not quite to the level of Michael Jordan on SNL but...). John Oliver China and Kenny G - YouTube
  17. Briefly met Mr. Minoso and had him autograph a baseball at Jacobs Field. Sadly, type of pen/ink (Sharpie?) or baseball not the best. May take some time for me to acquire some guardian merch.
  18. Live on your NBC affiliate tomorrow night. With Harry Connick Jr as Daddy Warbucks. Set your VCRs.
  19. A favorite! In high school I had a cassette dub of a collection called "Dizziest" which I believe overlaps a fair amount with this. After just a few listens, "In the Land of Oo-Bla-Dee" makes me think of Dizzy reading a picture book to young children (...beret optional...). Or a retirement celebration in which attendees take turns vocalizing over "Oop-Pop-A-Da". This CD incarnation gets pulled out a fair amount. Fun to sing along to while driving.
  20. The mall of my youth in suburban Cleveland, Randall Park Mall, has been been purchased/repurposed by Amazon. Ditto a few others in NE Ohio
