Happy birthday Dan Gould!!!
andybleaden replied to B. Goren.'s topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Due greatings and felicitations from across the pond -
I second that and strongly recommend it for two reasons ...LEE and MORGAN Fantastic lp all round Get it now or be disapointed in the after life
-
I have all of these already from along time ago in some cases and also with the help of TOCJ releases but still good to see them all coming out again as that Lonnie Smith took me years to get after I traded the lp I had in...I was lucky enough to have two copies of that too! Could not get enough Lonnie Smith in those days......still can't although I never really got into Drives in a bid way

Aha! Panic (for me ) over with. Back home in the comfort of my own home and surrounded by music and not work! The cd I was referring to was Hipnosis from 67 and wasn' t in the Mosaic set. I had a cdr of an lp burn which served until the Grachan Moncur select was issued. I was lucky enough to have had Bout soul both as an lp then as the cd when that came out......but thanks for that anyway...I remember seeing that they only stuck the moncur tracks from this in the select...bit strange but I suppose the Grachan Moncur name leads that to happen Mystery and small Mclean panic over for me Thought for a minute there I had missed a set Goes to show what they have reissued of his over the years though including reissuing all the LT seried with him on (vertigo and consequence)......and the other goodies that sat around for years Now playing Eco from the Mosaic set on my pc to cheer me up after that nasty Blue Note wobble and I feelin damn good I do have to say that this set represents Mosaic at their best for me
-
In fact as punishment I will go home now and have a damn good read of the mosaic booklet! whilst listening to it too!
-
You mean it gets worse!!! Facts are hard to use when I have little or no brains I am confusing the two fers now....both of jackknife 2fers were on the mosaic correct? The Hipnosis 2 fer was the old jackie mclean quintet session and one with grachan moncur that saw the light in the moncur box set I will shut up now and please ignore all I have said about consequence, hi frequency, jacknife etc except that they are all very very good Yours humbly meek on issues discogrpahical whilst sat in my office ANdy
-
I had the Don Byrd and art blakeys mosaic they were brill! Sound was not good as they were well used and not used well but the labels and other stuff was great...I thought I could have used them in stead of stamps! Still got the art blakey somewhere I am sure...could not see the point in selling and my matey was looking at getting a jukebox for his kitchen but never did
-
erm yes its offical I am now talkin out a my rear end I meant the other one erm panic HI Frequency ... DOH! I am in the shame of hell at cocking this one up.....which makes the other post re the OCtober conns even more annoying as I have this and I do not need to shred the cdr...( of hi frequency) ....good job I did not!)) Oh its so bloody confusing...why can they not issue the lot via a download thingy like with the verve stuff
-
I used it to call a friend in Germany ,....pc to pc and it was ........well weird I guess....it was someone I had emailed and Instant messaged for ages and we were discussing skype and got hoppoked up...you hear through my pc speakers which was very strange and not like the phone at all as it is crystal clear and better sounding. I also used to use it with next door when the free calls period has not clicked in and I need help with the pc!...but that is real lazy and we spend 5 mins saying how we out to lean out the window and stuff Anyway its free give it a try before the bean counters put a stop to it
-
You have got yourself a good set there. I have had it since it came out and feel very much as if it is was a really selection...although I could never understand why they left out the Consequence material ( er sorry I meant Hi Frequency stuff sorry!!!! -_- )...I mean come on! Anyway it was a beauty and a really good treat. I used to listen to it on and off for days upon end and then leave it for months but still go back to it fresh and enjoy it. Andy

unless you tell her to wait for the january sales........ They can never resist it........meanwhile you mop up on the turntabel front I know what you mean though.....yet this is a thing of beauty nonetheless and one that would mean you never have to buy anything ever again or Cookers are very bad for the environment......think of all that heat Your ( sorry use 'our' new turntable will help you hang on to the old vinyl thence Saving the Envionment or A new cooker is a great ideal ( sorry I am Bristolian!) and you know of people who have got one at work and they cook much more food now.....in fact a little too much as they have piled on the weight. or insert witty ideas that will do no good ad nauseum
-
Cool Cannot wait for some of these to replace well played cdrs! -_- I must admit the Booker session is quite good as is Consequence which I have on the mosaic Plus I see amazon uk have em for Oct 3ish....at 11.99 plus p+p and play.com have em for 10.99 andthats delivered for free! Tesco have em for £10.49 plus p+p....not bad all round really I am surprised you can get them at play.com ...how much they going for across the pond?
-
In my experience no......but it is always worth asking Superfi or the others also do a good range The problem is with richer sounds is they do good deals but only on the ranges they can get hold of at cheap prices Give em a ring...always in the week in the morning ...when the kids are not around and have a chat.....but also look at other traders who stock em it depends where you are really but regas dealers are here: http://www.rega.co.uk/index2.htm Henley designs may supply ( project) direct...best ask using link given early on
-
by the way here is there UK distributor sitte for even Moooooooooore choice http://www.henleydesigns.co.uk/products-f-project.htm and I just love the one made out of pear wood......maybe that is all because I love perry! anyway enjoy the site as there is loads of info and downloads for each of their products
-
No problem I think you can get them at Richer sounds and superfi people Certainly seem to give the rega a run for their money which is no bad thing I remember the entry level one got really excellent reviews in what hi fi so if you go for that you will not be disappointed.....mind you the other one does look nice and I am sure you could get it for cheaper then that too! Let me know if you need any help sourcing that and I will point you in the right direction ( well as long as you buy me one too and get all my old lps back!) Andy
-

I must admit when the Project player came out...I kicked myself that I got rid of my lps...well ever so gently ...just ofr a bit. Both the cheap and recent posher version were really nice audio players Get the Project...its sustainable and there is lots of choice whether you get this one http://www.hifistore.co.uk/product.php?qsProd=DEBUTMK3 or what about this one http://www.hifistore.co.uk/product.php?qsProd=RPM4 Gorge or what?! Well they are UK prices I know...sorry

Not so sure on this one. I know they were the first ons to do the full works ie with extras as before with Japanese cds they were usually just the original lp issue format..... I of course got the tocj I think ...or did I ?? -_- ...cannot remember right now Never understood why I must admit but I am sure there are plenty of reasons...did you pick up the Blue Trails cd which had no real rarities but a few that were left off the TOCJ issues....it was the one with the Blue Train cover mind you these were not RVGs details below thanks to www.jazzdisco.org 1601: Various Artists - Blue Trails: The Rare Tracks was the title TOCJ 1601 Various Artists - Blue Trails: The Rare Tracks Kenny Dorham (tp) Hank Mobley (ts) Cecil Payne (bars) Horace Silver (p) Percy Heath (b) Art Blakey (d) Rudy Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, NJ, January 30, 1955 tk.9 K.D.'s Cab Ride (Echo of Spring) Johnny Griffin (ts) Wynton Kelly (p) Curly Russell (b) Max Roach (d) Rudy Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, NJ, April 17, 1956 tk.12 The Way You Look Tonight tk.16 Cherokee Ira Sullivan (tp) J.R. hmmm sounds like the Tyner but I do have all of it though and its only a selct) mind you so was the Patton and Duke Pearson but they replaced a couple of cdrs as well as mostly normal cds.. does it have cosmos...maybe I will if it has that as I only have an lp copy of that and I said I would get the cd if it came out
