  1. No, DEEP went off to Europe.
  2. I'm a little lactose-intolerant myself, so I have to lay off the ice cream. I do like Breyer's of course.
  3. K-mart would have taken the bill!
  4. I've got half of my cds arranged alphabetically, and the other half are just shelved according to last date of purchase or last listening date. I keep my cds in boxes. I own only jazz cds; nothing else.
  5. I've always felt sorry for ol' Lou: having his show stolen from him by Patton & Green gettin' in the pocket & dueling to the death! Green and Pattoncontinuing their duel to the death. They had an ongoing duel spanning several sessions.
  6. Yeah, I think Dan has pretty much said it all here.
  7. Just returned from Pittsburgh, where I won my section in the "Pittsburgh Open." Had to gut this one out and fight my way out of inferior positions in at least two of the games. Took home $600. Still, after hotel costs and entry fees come out, I don't end up with much. I don't do this for money! B) There were close to 10 grandmasters playing in the Open section. All of them were foreign born. Take a look at the physics department in your local University and you will see the same thing: most of the students and faculty are foreign born. What's wrong with America? Don't we get involved in brainy stuff anymore? I play in Columbus in two weeks in another big event. That will be my last one for a while, because I've got to concentrate on my new job. I shouldn't really be playing but I had scheduled this months ago. I've got to get my priorities straigtened out here.
  8. Terrible news, Jim. Wish I could offer some advice but I cannot. I don't know anything about owing back taxes. I don't think people earning under $20,000 should be taxed at all, but there you go. I would suggest that we look at implementing some kind of donation program in order to help support this website. This has been brought up before. One idea might be for you guys to work on your "Standards" cd and we all pay $10-15 for it. We get music and you get some $. I'd even pay $20 for it. It's all going towards a good cause! Hope this doesn't put others out, but let's hear some suggestions anyway.
  9. I think the fights cheapen the sport. There should be no tolerance for fighting in hockey.
  10. I haven't bought anything, but I do have a recommendation. If you don't have it, get Clifford Brown, "Best Coast Jazz." It's got the complete unexpurgated "You Go To My Head." Only two songs on the cd! I think it's hard to find.
  11. Happy Birthday to two great people on this board. Another year, fellahs!
  12. I've only got "Gravy Train" and "Sunny Side Up." I prefer "Gravy Train," which is very good. Does "Lou Takes Off" fall into this chronological category? That one is good as well.
  13. My suggestion, Dave, would be to hang tight and wait for one to appear on ebay.
  14. All of these are now listed as available at Dusty Goove dustygroove (the Bastards!)
  15. Great news, Jim!! Yahoo! A new New England Patriot fan, right? B) Uncle Conn will teach him everything he knows!
  16. No one could play a better ballad than DEX! His music will always live...
  17. Probably worse if you played jazz in those casinos, huh?
  18. Terrific fantasy writer! Edgar Rice Burroughs had an amazing imagination. I've been planning to reread some of his stuff. Got the book buried in a box somewhere. Better go find it...
  19. Great price on "Cliff Craft." I love that cd!
