  1. I say stick with Romo too, but there will be a learning curve for sure, and Dallas might not make the playoffs this year. That division is hypercompetitive.
  2. Giants looked like the second best team in the NFC to the Bears. Well, I guess New Orleans is up there as well.
  3. 3-way tie going into tonight with two others who could tie the pack if the Giants win. This one's going down to the wire....
  4. The "Log" has been kicking butt over the last couple weeks. I'm just glad I picked up some game son Allblues....
  5. I highly recommend the Woody box set. The music is unavailable elsewhere other than a single cd "Rosewood." The music is excellent. Woody in his prime.
  6. I've bought a few cds and box sets from a boardmember which reek of nicotine. I left them out in the open for a few days and it seemed to help, but the smell hasn't quite been erased.
  7. My picks are in. Going for Oakland this week to pick up their first win, Nojjy. Sorry, SS, but got to go with Denver over the Browns.
  8. I don't have you on "ignore." I have never personally used that function. Yanow, apparently has you on "ignore."
  9. I think that's unfortunate. Agreed. I like Yanow's comments, and I like the AMG guide. But SS is correct in his comments. I'm not a musician, but I hear special things in BJP's music that I don't hear anywhere else. I've always been dismayed by what I viewed as Scott's casual reviews of BJP and many other jazz organ dates. It makes me wonder whether he has listened to them more than once. Scott: please stick around. You do have things to say. SS is very knowledgeable in his area, and I did not detect any personal criticism, or at least nothing that couldn't be worked out through decent dialogue. Yes, Clem can't seem to write a post without putting someone else down, but that's Clem. You already have him on "ignore," right?
  10. Aside from the above two recommendations.... I would purchase the AMG All Music Guide for Jazz. I would then look at the diagrams where they list...say tenor sax players. They've arranged them according to categories. Then I would pick a few names and look them up individually in the guide. If there is a lengthy discography, you pick out the sessions which were rated 5 stars. I actually employed this method when I started out. I had no one to guide me and just explored things that way. Eventually, you begin to recognize sidemen and you find that many good jazz players played on other player's records. Things just open up. Good luck!
  11. "Wait till you see what I do with a tuba!"
  12. Happy Birthday, Chris!
  13. Hey, this game is interesting!
  14. Hmm, I better turn the game on. Forgot it was on. Wasn't exactly on my must-see list.
  15. Don't own any of 'em. Not a value judgment, just a fact. I remember the first time I met Chuck, we discussed a lot of stuff about jazz. I think I mentioned something about the so-called decline of jazz in the 70s. Chuck vigorously denied that any such decline took place. I don't recall his exact words, but it had something to do with how jazz was marketed at the time. I think I was making the point that rock and roll had taken over a lot of the popularity of jazz, but I've always loved 70s jazz and subsequently from the talk with Chuck have discovered even many more great titles. Damn, I hate to admit it: Chuck was right!!!
  16. While I don't need any of the cds, I will take an 8x10 of your avitar! Mark~ She's a Goddess alright....and she can act too! Who is it? Conn=doesn't know shit about movie stars.
  17. I'm getting creamed as the early afternoon finals come pouring in. Lots of close games, and my picks are at the losing end of these close games.
  18. Groove Holmes was remarkably consistent in the quality of his recordings, imo. I would just get what you can find. I've probably got 15+ cds, and I like them all.
  19. Always tough to get into the weekend's games when your team has the bye week. I'll likely watch the KC-Pittsburgh game which will be on TV. Other than that, it's a steady diet of Browns and Lions games...YAWN! At least, Cleveland has a bye week again. No reason to head to the sports bars this Sunday.
  20. Actually, it was a pretty easy week. Three of us missed only one game, and I could have gone undefeated had I not been tempted into going for a Green Bay upset pick. I have a friend at Oppenheimer funds, who called me today to say that he went undefeated, but lost out on Monday night points to another office mate. We won't get too many easy weeks like that.
  21. Freddie Roach, "My people (are soul people)" Japanese import VICJ K-2 20 bit. Killer version of "Mas Que Nada." $20 postage paid to US address. Try and find this cd somewhere....
