  5. I dunno; where are they? (Yes, it's a joke...)
  6. Reminds me of the joke about...um...nevermind; I just realized how offensive the joke I was about to add was...
  7. I agree. It basically was a second rate suckathon, but had enough John Severin art to keep me an occasional reader...
  8. Mad is still widely imitated... Oh, yeah. I had scattered copies of all the EC titles, and then later picked up the EC Library sets. Amazing stuff all around. As someone who was a big fan of comics for most of my life, I always wonder what comics in this country would have been like if it hadn't been for Kefauver, Wertham, etc. Anyone who knows his U.S. comics history knows it isn't just conservatives who fuck things up; liberals are just as adept at it.
  9. Who cares what musicians say? The product is own by the poor, misunderstood corporate suits.
  10. That's the problem with modern education; skimping on the classics!
  11. Yeah, because if Aggie's holiday comes true, we're gonna be totally exhausted...
  12. No, Panic was a completely different comic book. If I remember correctly, it was edited by someone other than the great Harvey Kurtzman, who was responsible for Mad (and so much more over the years!).
  13. The short answer is this: A latter day replacement for this: Most Stooge fans prefer Curly, though some do prefer Shemp, much in the same way that most prefer to eat cheesecake, though some prefer to take it as a suppository...
  14. Cora Papadakis Nick Papadakis Frank Chambers
  15. Vanilla Ice Milli Vanilli Emil Frey (creator of Velveeta)
  16. Well, he had a point...
  17. I remember flipping through some old issues that a friend had that were the same ones I read as a kid (mid to late 60s or so was my 'prime Mad' time, although I remember it well into the mid70s) and seeing an illustration of a medicine chest that had condoms in it. I was amazed that there were actually things that I didn't catch at the time. Although ten year olds don't generally think about condoms, I guess...
  18. OMG...tell me it's not clementine.
  19. Yeah, grey was the person I thought of when I read the first post. Fortunately (if that's the word), we were told. Mnytime? Uh...yeah. Then again, there may very well be people who we think have drifted off that drifted a lot farther than we think.
  20. Yeah, I've thought about this as well. I'd hate to drop dead and...well, I guess I'd hate to drop dead, but you know what I mean...
  21. It's not what I'm supposed to be listening to as a member of a jazz board, but I think I've burned the Smith's How Soon is Now into my brain this week...
  22. ...and now that Shane's done it, he knows that it's true.
  23. I remember as well, though to be honest, it was in those reprints in the big Mad 'annuals' (that seemed to come out every other month) back in the seventies. But even the seventies was a long time ago for my brain. Particularly considering the mass quantities of weed I consumed in the seventies and eighties...
  24. Heh. He said anus! King Arthur Arthur Conan Doyle Arthur Dent
  25. As far as legality, what does that have to do with anything? Almost 17,000 people were murdered in the U.S. in 2007; I don't think that makes it legal. You can buy marijuana seeds through the mail, but that doesn't make it legal in the U.S.
