  1. How about a short clue-in to the thread for those of us who are clueless? Who? What?
  2. Wow. Hardy County West Virginia must have been a lot like Long County Georgia in many ways. Although I'm a bit jealous of that third channel you guys had; we didn't have UHF, and the ABC affiliate out of Savannah was on 22 if I remember right. Just what I need: more help falling into a midlife crisis. I'm not sure what to do; I'm not that big on blondes, and convertables never appealed to me...
  3. "If only"? As a horny teenager at the time, I considered her the main attraction of the show. Newhart's comedy was great later, but then? Gimme Suzanne!
  4. I'm beginning to think that (including the 'perhaps'; no certainy here!) as well. Everyone's talking about a stimulus package to get things going again until the economy recovers, but I don't know if the levels of consumerism we were used to will return or not. Or for that matter, whether it should.
  5. Looking back from 51, I'd say yes...
  6. Glad to hear y'all took care of the miscreant!
  7. What am I supposed to do all night? Sleep??
  8. Speaking of changes, anyone else getting errors tonight? I ask here because I can only get into threads that are listed on the main forum page. If it isn't the topic with the latest post, I can't see it.

  10. ah yes, they would always do the close up of her blowing into the camera. That's the one!
  11. The Owl in the Attic and Other Perplexities by James Thurber. I haven't read Thurber since I was in my twenties, and while I remember his stories being humorous (and his characters being even more humorous), I don't remember him being this side-splitting funny. Douglas Adams has nothing on this guy!
  12. I have to confess that the brunette with the curly hair is still etched deep in my brain...
  13. No, but I always remember to make sure golf is popular in the local area before an interview...
  14. Just finished Greybeard by Brian Aldiss. I rarely read Aldiss; he's an excellent writer, but usually not recommended material for someone dealing with depression. He makes the existentialists seem like rousing comedians...
  15. I agree. I gave up watching tennis during the Sampras reign; bored me to tears. As for Federer's lock on the U.S. Open, I wouldn't be so sure. Nadal had never made to the Australian Open finals before either; the hard court is certainly no stumbling block for him anymore.

  17. Wouldn't be our first time as a research project, would it? I asked the watch or participate question because my favorite to watch is hockey, but I've never even laced up skates. My favorite to participate is weight lifting, if that counts as a sport. Something about all the numbers (reps and weights) appeals to my inner nerd.
  18. Do you mean to watch or to play?
  19. As long as it wasn't Clemens getting a testicle massage...
  20. ...pigs will fly, gas will go under $1 a gallon, and Weizen will abandon the forums to hang out on Democratic Underground.

  22. Ouch. "Taken apart" scares me as well. Still, if the box was damaged, he should have refused to accept it. Sounds like his complaint is with the shipper, not you. And unless the chassis is really messed up, a broken circuit board sounds fishy as well. A circuit board in the chassis is pretty hard to break, unless you're talking about some kluge setup thrown together at home...
  23. I must admit that this is probably the first commercial that I've ever seen that I wanted to last longer...
