I've never read anything by Cordwainer Smith. I found a copy of Space Lords in a used paperback shop the other day to give him a try; it's the first book of his I've found. I don't know if I'm just unlucky, or his stuff is just hard to find.

Always good stuff! I've gotten on my occasional James M. Cain jag this week. Yesterday was Double Indemnity, today was The Postman Always Rings Twice. Probably go with Mildred Pierce tomorrow, Love's Lovely Counterfeit on Saturday and then Serenade on Sunday. It usually runs down about there, but we'll see... Can't take The Butterfly anymore; gives me Pia Zadora nightmares!

Well...I've tried Harbor Freight tools before myself, and I'll say this. I don't think you'll see too many construction pros saving a buck by going there. For the occasional user, yeah, it's a great deal, but their products don't hold up for shit if you're going to use them on a regular basis. Then again, why should us "once in a while handymen" have to buy pro-level tools? If I'm looking for tools for my bike, I'm not going near the place, but if I needed a finishing nail gun that I'd probably rarely use, I'd go for it.

I can't say I don't drink, though I don't remember the last time I did. Hmmm...maybe I don't! Even weed, I'm sure if I found a bag in a drawer or something, I might roll up a doob and relive some memories. But cigs are the only thing that has drug me out of bed in the middle of the night down to the 7-11 with "yes, I want the matches; quit fucking around!" on my lips...
