  1. Nice guy, he may be, but he's definitely no "chess babe". No, but he made some good flicks with Judy Garland, and a few with Ann Miller. Wait a minute; that's not Mickey Rooney...
  2. Well, I guess you've inspired me, papsrus; just reached 48 hours as a nonsmoker. I figure another 24 and I'll be home free. So to speak...
  3. or Eule Gibbons. Did he die of food poisoning from a tainted pine tree?
  4. Not trying to stir up shit, and I can't say I completely disagree with you, but this sounds a heck of a lot like that "I want it, so I'm entitled" camp down the street...
  5. Yes, but apparently before Bush, criminals felt guilty about their acts...
  6. Reminds me of the line from "How to Murder Your Wife": Not at all, my boy, not at all. Been married 38 years myself. And I don't regret one day of it. The one day I don't regret was... August 2, 1936. She was off visiting her ailing mother at the time.
  7. Man, that sure sounds familiar! I'd love to offer advice, but I didn't have the complications of a child, and that most definitely changes everything. The only experience I have in that sort of thing was as the child, and all I can say is that whenever you find someone knew, you better make damned sure they understand that your daughter is going to be part of your life no matter what and they just have to deal with it. Of course, that has nothing to do with your present situation... I have to wonder about your comment about there being something about this board, though. Are we just a bunch of losers, or is life just like this these days? Sorry...I forgot; I'm supposed to have moved past depression to anger...
  8. I must admit, all I ended up watching was women's badmitton and white water kayaking... I'm really more of a winter olympics type anyway.
  9. The Apache once controlled vast areas of the North American continent...
  10. And remember...the Chinese gymnasts are fair game!
  11. How's this for an idea, Peter? Make CDRs of the CDRs, and photocopy the photocopies. Return them, and if you get your money back, make more copies. Return those, and...well, you get it. Surely Saturn Records couldn't object to this...
  12. If it is too rash, we could always use baby powder later...
  13. On the subject of comics, there's one book I had that I don't regret selling. I had a beautiful copy of Superman #7 that I sold when my cat Godzilla needed an operation. Saved the little guy's life, and I never had any regrets about giving up the book. So circumstances make a difference...
  14. Ed, I've avoided this thread up till now because of my own personal experiences of late (recently left "depressed" for a good long stay at "angry" in my own breakup experience...), but I sure wish you good luck. I'm happy for you, and you certainly deserve the happiness this will bring. Maybe some day...
  15. Damn...did I miss something Lon?
  16. Damn...wish I'd thought of that!
  17. Laugh if you guys want, but I think this is the answer to my dreams! Moose Records is on the way!! All of you musicians here will be receiving contracts from Moose Records, of course. Naturally, we want to get your work out in front of your public as soon as possible, so there's really no time for you to actually read the contracts; just sign them and get them back as soon as possible. For those of you who insist on reading the contracts, first of all, I'm hurt. Can't we trust each other? But a few explanations, just in case you're nervous. Section three, paragraph four is standard in the industry, so don't worry about it. Section five, paragraph six is merely a formality; don't worry about it. As for the royalty clause, this is actually to protect you and keep me honest. Remember: I work as a bookkeeper, so I can pretty much make the numbers say whatever I want. By eliminating royalties, any temptation on my part to "juggle the books" is eliminated, and you're protected. Remember, the main thing in this game is exposure, so get those contracts back fast! I guarantee that with Moose Records, you'll get so much exposure that, unless you have a barrell handy, you'll consider it absolutely indecent!
  18. I can relate to a degree. For salad dressing, pizza, and a lot of other things, I use the extra virgin. But if I'm frying something up, screw olives; I'm grabbing the peanut oil. Then there's sesame oil, which can do all sorts of things to food...
  19. I don't know about that. Most hardcore female athletes delay puberty just by being hardcore atheletes. Heck, my sister didn't start menstruating until she was sixteen. Her body was just too damned busy being a softball star...
  20. Exactly. Hence, the thread's concept brings to my mind "Paper Moon", not "Citizen Kane".
  21. Yes. Last year. At least it's not like selling my comic book collection back in the early nineties. I'll never have that again. I'm sure I'll amass more music over the years...
