My wife loved the last song on the last CD; I hated it. Just goes to show you, Krall can appeal to different crowds. The CDs I don't like, she has, and vice versa, with very little overlap. I'm sure hoping the next one ends up on my shelf instead of hers. Either way, I was optimistic enough to preorder, so either I like it, or she gets a free CD...

Damn you, Weizen; you're not luring me back in! Started a new "read before bed" book (which means it'll take about three months to finish!): Mel Watkins' On the Real Side, a history of African-American humor from West Africa up through the present day. Pretty interesting so far.

I think '93 was the last year I was really into the game as well; the strike pretty much killed my enthusiam. No hard feelings; the magic just wasn't there any more. So I'm hoping Bonds doesn't break the record, for purely selfish reasons.

Well, looking at it from Bruces approach, I rarely listen to Miles or Coltrane any more, but that's because when I first got started in jazz, that's all I had. I've heard them so many times, they just don't leap off the shelf for me any more. Lee Morgan and Hank Mobley are approaching that status as well. But, I'm certainly not getting rid of the stuff; I do need to hear it once a year or so, just to remind myself how good it is...

Are you guys saying that Aric actually chooses to write that way? Wow; that's even worse than I thought...
