I don't think it's your imagination. I know I'm posting like a meth addict with laryngitis. Just my way of coping with the shock; I'm probably not the only one...
-
Yeah, what was that dipshits problem? And why the moronic sixth grade humor aimed at Bertrand all the time? I must have missed something...
-
Well...I still have the BNBB listed in the "Jazz Boards" folder of my favorites, but it lost it's place in the exalted "Daily Spots" folder to a certain more colorful board which will remain nameless!
-
But...B3-er promised me the job...
-
I must add that "Shurdlu" also has significance to fans of the early Mad magazine (back in the comic book days...). Maybe someday Shurdly can enlighten us as to where he picked it up!

So...where does one get this Uptown Mingus package? -
Ah! Okay; got it! And, of course, as everyone knows, I posted as both Greg and Chris Albertson, usually at the same time...
-
That's okay; we can take turns being Greg and abuse the shit out of 'em! "You simpleton. It should be obvious even to one of your limited intelligence that the SACD version of Organissimo's bootleg July 3rd concert is FAR superior to...."

Never heard of the infamous Eatoin Shrdlu? Hmm....
-
Okay, I'll confess. I have one Chet Baker album, Chet, which I enjoy once in a while. I had never heard his vocals before, but heard him a couple of weeks on the radio (KCSM, of course!). My first thought was "What a strange sounding woman!". Second thought was "You know, I really dislike this." Third was "Please let me die! I pray to Shiva every day...". Okay, that was really Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, but you get the idea. Listening to Chet Baker sing for me is like watching Michael Jackson's nose disintegrate. Repulsive and unnatural. Sorry...
-
Ugh. I've been checking it out also. While what I read was interesting, and not what I'd heard at all (rumors of baby tossing, packs of wild wolves, etc...), their software is so SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW that I could never stay there for long. (I'm sure they're disappointed...)
-
Well, it's official. Gotta go to work this morning, which means I only have enough time for one bulletin board. Used to be Blue Note. Now it's here. At least at my place, we have a winner!!

How Big is Your Backlog, redux...

It's not just you. Looks like he did a line of bad coke... -
G'wan...ask him how he feels about SACD...

AAJ Thread on Blue Noter's It's out in the open now, and I feel no pressure to be fair to both sides and such. This is now home, as far as I'm concerned.
-
I just had to bring this one back from the BNBB, as I actually have a backlog now. A package of nine CDs arrived this week, and although I've listened to three, I'm just not in the mood to hear the others right now. Could this be the start....?
-
That would be cool if it's possible. You know, the only thing that bugs me about the software here is the "top ten posters today" thing and all. I mean, everyone already knows I'm a big mouth, but to give everyone concrete proof like that...
-
So far today.... Al Cohn Nonpareil Charlie Christian Genius of the Electric Guitar Gerry Mulligan What is there to Say? (thanks to another thread here!) Dave Holland Big Band What Goes Around
-
Damn it, Paul; I know I know you; what was your handle @ BNBB??? It's driving me crazy, and I know it's just another senior moment...
-
I don't really think polls are the answer at this stage. The poll taken here said we should stay here. Surprise, surprise. I'm sure a poll taken at this point at AAJ would result in an overwhelming vote to stay there. I honestly think that at this stage, the best approach is to be patient. Let's let things sort themselves out for a bit. After all, a lot of us thought Harlem.org was our new home for a bit. Obviously, fewer of us think that now. Let's just give it a little more time...

...and as you head out the door you can hear Papa's Got a Brand New Bag rising up!

Ah, but those were different days; if you tried that today, you'd be hit with a zeitgeist harrassment lawsuit! -
So, just out of curiosity, what would you buy first? All I have is What is There to Say? and of course Monk Meets Mulligan. What would you go with next?
-
Well, as John Tappscott pointed out on another topic, it hasn't been that long since the axe fell, and I think we're still in the sorting out phase. I wouldn't give up too quickly on this board emerging as THE hangout for us exBNer's... And wesbed, you've BEEN part of the family!
-
But seriously, if that's possible for me, I have to agree. The thread that was deleted was fairly innocuous. It basically went like this: 1) OLD POSTER: This place is a sewer; I'm outta here! 2) JAZZMOOSE: Ha! He should see it NOW! 3) WEST COAST GHOST: You got me on that one; I didn't see the original post date at first. Note: these are NOT quotes; these are my recollection. i'm positive they are NOT exact quotes, okay? Anyway, okay, the moderator sees this, decides other newcomers might be alarmed, so he deletes the entire thread. Like I say, I can understand his reasoning. I understand his motive, and see nothing wrong with his motive. I just don't like the action that he took. Perhaps I'm being unreasonable; perhaps not. Man, I feel like we're reenacting The Oddessy, or more likely Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou? here! Every board seems cool at first, but isn't quite right. This one seems perfect, but...I...seem.....sleeepy.......zzzzzzzzzz
