Just saw this, an appearance on Saturday Night Live by Jagger, Beck and one of my favorite bassists (at least in rock), the Presidential Blues. Thoughts?

Pretty sad. It's too bad Paterno is dead so he could hauled into court. I'm sure the civil suits will keep the family's attorneys busy for years. Re Goodspeak, did he go to Penn State?
-
Think so since he was the manager of the Futures Team.

My hearing is somewhat decent but in crowded rooms it's not easy nor in listening to tv english programs. -

Since it miraculously disappeared and then returned, I would have this looked at. You don't want to mess around. I suffer from tinnitis and although I've gotten used to it (tuned out the background noise), it will return on occasion. Had a bad bout for a few hours on Monday. -
At the end of the day, it's only an exhibition game so who really cares. We will just see at the end of the season who had the better season. Parting shot: he had a perfect game but then so did Phillip Humber, the White Sox pitcher (a former Met farmhand by the way), and he is, was and a mediocre pitcher, save his one big moment.

I agree: Bud Selig is full of shit regarding the W-L in the All-Star Game vs home field advantage in the WS. However, if you are interested in winning baseball games, emotional favorites are not who you go with. Here's the line on Dickey: 1H, 1K, 1.00 WHIP in one inning pitched. Cain's the better pitcher today....and with good reason. LaRussa made the right call, IMHO. Shocking you would say that However, there was never really any question who was the better pitcher coming in and that's what you measure things on when making a decision. I think in the future they should have retired mgrs manage. Next year we can start with Joe Torre.

How does LaRussa get to manage the NL and make an idiotic decision by not picking Dickey as the starter when he has the best stats in the league the reason given is that Posey is not used to a knuckler. Neither is Ruiz but he will be Dickey's catcher when he comes in. Great reasoning.

Great finish today by the young French rider. Great elation in France I'm sure.

Exciting finish today I thought as with the first mountain finish. Let's see how Csdel Evans responds.

I enjoyed this year's first stage. Glad to see it back. That last accident was quite avoIdable. The commentary is first rate as usual.

Someone once said to me that holding a grudge is like letting someone live rent free in your head.

A fellow member of the tribe I've heard him on occasion mutter stuff about Schapp.

For you he's on at a reasonable hour. Sid's got that classic New York Jew delivery. Some of those WKCR guys have been on air for about 40 years, like Schaap and Sharif Abdul Salaam (whom I first knew of as Ed Michael). When I started listening to WKCR DJs included Fred Seibert, who was with MTV from the beginning, and Rich Scheinin, who started Oblivion Records and now writes for San Jose Mercury News. I think I first became aware of WKCR in 1970 during the Coltrane marathon, and I did lots of all-nighters in August of 1973 listening to the Bird marathon, just before starting college. Sid is great. I love listening to him. He does have a very distinctive voice (not sure what NY Jew delivery means or adds; gravelley might have been a better choice of words) as does Sharif.

Just got back one I sold awhile, a long while ago, the Jacquet.

It was no match, boys playing against men. They were generally able to take the ball whenever they wanted. However, that will not work against better teams. -
Sent you a pm about the Jacquet.

The Spain match on Thursday was a thing of beauty unless you happen to be Irish. They were really too much for the Irish. Some of the players are ancient like Damian Duff. According to espn Spain completed something like 770 passes, the most in a Euro match since 1980. This is setting up for a Spain v Germany rematch. -
Proverbial backs to the wall for the Rangers. Lets hope there's a game 7.

Just listened to Easy Living last week! Hadn't listened to it in years. Nice tunes.

Gah! Armando Benitez' name gives me nightmares. Now, you know how we feel. It's Deja Vu all over again!

Watched the game with a bunch of friends on the upper side last night. The whole bar went crazy when they scored the first one. Oddly enough, on the return train trip to NJ, saw tons of Ranger fans but very few Devils fans.
