Knicks are kicking some serious butt tonight, leading the Magic by 37! as the 3rd Q winds down.

I just received an email from the Times indicating that for non-subscribers you will only be allowed to view 10 articles on their website as opposed to the existing 20, beginning April 1.

comp. list of jazz personalities on twitter
Brad replied to alocispepraluger102's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Thanks for the link. I don't know about the rest of you but I've started to look at Twitter less. Information overload I think. -
Couldn't agree more. When a player is gone from my team, I don't follow him anymore. Fantasy sports has been around for awhile. Before the internet age, back in the mid 80s fans would call up radio stations asking how so and so did and the hosts would read off stats so people could update their leagues.

He's checking with the NFLPA as to what they can do.

Any stock investing / finance folks in here?

If you need information for tax reporting, you're better off going to the company's transfer agent. You could probably create an account quickly and they could then generate a 1099 DIV in seconds. -
The NFL Channel has someone who just covers fantasy football and they treat it very seriously. I've often turned to my son and said is this for real?

Adele overtakes Pink Floyd album in biggest-selling list
Brad replied to David Ayers's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I had heard of her but not much. Music seems pleasant enough but doesn't really float my boat, as they say. -
I suppose it was all inevitable unless Anthony cooperated and he wouldn't and he probably knew he could do what he wanted to do since it was the owner who had pushed the trade over the objection of Donnie Walsh. All the players were on the same page with D'antoni except the one that mattered. Well, Anthony got what he wanted and if the thing blows up in his face, then he will have to be held accountable. However, with Dolan you never know. Just goes to show you what happens when Daddy gives you gifts (Madison Square Garden, Knicks and Rangers) you didn't earn on your own.

Linsanity has left the building. In today's Times, Howard Beck writes that "D’Antoni left the building Wednesday, taking his speedy, free-flowing offense with him. His replacement, Mike Woodson, is an old-school coach and Larry Brown disciple who emphasizes defense, ball control and isolation play." He concludes that none of this bodes well for Lin. See Linsanity Has Left the Building. The talk is that soon Lin will be relegated to a back up roll. Although the wisdom can be analyzed in basketball terms, from a p.r. point of view it's not a positive for the NBA as his story had brought back a lot of fans and made some new ones and if he's shunted aside, those people may disappear.

All the players were on point with D'Antoni except Melo. He broke plays so he could do his thing. An incredibly selfish person. Another big problem is the owner. As long as he is the owner the Knicks will never win. The team is owned by Charles Dolan, owner of Cablevision. He gave it to his kid James to run, who has screwed it up. Donnie Walsh cleaned up the mess but James Dolan forced the Melo trade and then forced out Walsh. D'antoni's days were numbered when that happened. Melo is just a scum.

The rumors are already starting. Can't see Jackson coming though.
-
Since Melo returned to the lineup, the team has been dysfunctional and any progress they made has gone up in smoke: losing streak is at 6. Moreover, the coach, Mike D'antoni, and his star player, Carmelo Anthony, detested each other. Today D'antoni quit. Another case of the lunatics running the asylum.

Mosaics That Could Have Been, But Weren't
Brad replied to JSngry's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
That's probably true. Would have liked to have seen it, or how about just a release or two. That ain't happenin' either. -
I was going to say Cy Young. I think he pitched forever. Fair enough. Golf is a frustrating game at times. Trust me. But I still keep coming back. Love this game! And you know why they call it Golf, don't you? Because all the other four-letter words were taken [insert rim shot here] Me or Jim? Yeah, it can get pretty ugly out there sometimes. I play a lot of "hit-it-and-hope". Jim! I haven't played in years (back) but I'm no loss to the golf world (except ball manufactuers)

I picked this up recently based on advise from a thread here (I think). Anyway, enjoyable album.

Some people have theorized Houston as it's a ready made to order situation: smallish type city, very good team and a dome. Schaub is always injured and the Texans won't take a major cap hit if they cut him.

Well, if you know anything about European football you would. In fifteen years with Liverpool he won three league championships (e.g. equivalent to today's Premier League), two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup.
-
You have that completely wrong. In the immortal words of Bill Shankley, the legendary Liverpool coach, "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."
