The Mets closer, Frank Francisco, seems to be the second coming of Armando Benitez: two blown saves this weekend and made last night a little dicey.

Like Eric, never heard of this series until now. May have some of it in other packaging but would have been nice to buy 'em this way.

Didn't get to see too much of the game but Rangers move. Amazing to say but it only gets harder from here on in. Hard to predict who will one this one.

It's still pretty early. Haven't they done this in years past? Not to mention that Howard is rehabbing.

Yes, but we want someone to blame... The shame is that Fantasy was actually starting to do some credible reissue packages (Stitt's Bits, Red Garland at the Prelude, the three Coltrane boxes, the Miles Quintet box, the Evans VV box, etc.) before they sold the catalog to Concord. So much more that could have been done along those lines. Now we're back to this. This, and "..... Plays for Lovers", and the beloved Andorrans doing the only intelligent reissue packaging. I think you have this slightly incorrect, if I'm not mistaken. Those projects may have been conceived when Fantasy still owned the catalogue, but they were released after Concord bought the catalogue. So, if anyone at Concord still has a brain inside their head, there may be hope yet. I'll never forget Chuck's prescient words about getting the OJCs while you could when the sale was first announced.

Jazz by Gee (Riverside Records). I know that not everybody is a huge fan but this is a great date by the trombonist, with some fine support: Ernie Henry, Frank Foster, Art Taylor, among others. Junior's Cookin'. One of my favorite discs. Quintessential hardtop with Junior Cook, Blue Mitchell, Ronnie Matthews, Dolo Coker, gene Taylor and Roy Brooks. Not an essential disc but very enjoyable.

I wonder how effective are the ads that show up here.

You're probably right about that Let's hope they wrap it up tomorrow night.

Speaking of Philadelphia Washington, there was an article in Monday's New York Times about Nationals management trying to keep Philly fans away from their stadium. See Uninvited, Philly Fans Still March In

Mets pulled a nice one out against the Phillies last night. Just when it seemed that Halliday was on cruise control, Mets tie and then a rookie gets his first major league hit, a three run pinch homer, against Papelbon. So far, the Mets have a little resiliency this year. When it seems they're going to fall below 500, they manage to win a few and stay afloat.

Dude, it was a bit of a joke but Mark seemed to get it. Apparently, you didn't

The jury is still out on Sanchez. Anyone who won four road playoff games in his first two years can't be discounted. Jet fans always see doom around the corner. This is not the place for Tebow.

Just two wins away from a NY NJ series to decide who wins the Stanley Cup.

Could Davis just not have been recorded properly, as opposed to playing a poor piano. -

Agree about Green. Always a pleasure to hear him. -
In what capacity? Grunwald has had the interim tag removed as GM. I don't see Isiah as Coach as Woodson has done a good job and injuries have depleted them, first Lin, now Shumpert and Jeffries is very limited because of his knee.

I was not able to see the game but Knicks were completely destroyed. What an embarassment. Could be a very short series.

Cashman seemed to imply that he would be talking to the Mariners about Pineda. I don't think you can undo the trade unless the Mariners deliberately withheld info about his condition I think we have seen the last of Pelfrey. Even when healthy, his temperament was suspect.

I wonder if anybody has sounded out the Estate recently.

I also hope it's the end of them, as a RM fan but doubt it. big disappointment on how they lost the match.
-
That was a classic moment. Think he got a two or three game suspension for that.

I hate to admit this, but I've never heard of Phillip Humber. Needless to say, I have now. The 21st perfect game in MLB history. Nice. I think Humber was a Mets farmhand years ago. That was an amazing game. Has to be one of the greatest comebacks forever. Bobby said after the game they had hit rock bottom.

Hoping mine arrives by the weekend. In the meantime I'm listening to Dexter's album. -
Think it will be difficult to beat OKC but Heat need to prove something so it could be an interesting final. On a more mundane level I dont see the Knicks beating the number two seed but hope they can make it interesting.

They took a break on Saturday and Sunday and emerged from that land! Hypocrisy! Ain't it great Can't blame you in a way. Makes for merriment though
