I readily admit that we haven't been in the Series too much (although we've been only around since '62) and that you guys have the most World Series rings for the National League To be a Mets fan (as well as a Nets or Jets fan: they all end in ets -- no coincidence I'm sure) is to be an expert in suffering
-
As the second article indicates, the solution is an exemption so the material can be copied.
-
Well, this didn't sell the first time so it's back here reduced.
-
Shows you why they play the games. Not a series I'll be watching however.
-
I hear it's going to be in the low 40s.

I'd have to say when you're down to your last strike you may be right but that thing just froze him like it woul have most hitters. There was nothing he could have done with it. It wasn't that he didn't know what to do with it. Maybe you thought you'd go crazy because Carlos is one of the better players in the league and has burned the Cardinals quite a few times in the last few years. When the announcers were constantly talking about Albert that didn't bother me because he's one of the best players around although he mostly took off this series. Ignorant Met fans? Got news for you buddy but the New York fans (including Yankee fans and probably Red Sox and Phillie fans) are the most knowledgeable around. No surprise there since New York collectively has won most of the World Series. Going to Busch (and I've been there a few times) is like going to a pep rally. You almost think you're at a Cornhusker home game.

WFAN in New York has been non-stop baseball post mortem today. The Mike and the Mad Dog show got hold of a tape of an interview with one of the Cardinal players and in the background you can hear the Cardinal players mocking the Mets by singing that Jose song the Shea pubic announcer was playing when Reyes was up. Allegedly, LaRussa was part of it. What a bunch of fucking assholes. Real Cardinal class. Wouldn't expect any more of that insufferable asshole LaRussa. After that pond scum comment from the 80s, what more could you expect from those morons? God, I hope the Tigers take them out in 4 or 5. I'd love to see the Tigers celebrate in Busch.

You don't appear to know what you're talking about. When he threw that pitch to Floyd for strike 3, he showed the Mets hitters he could get it over for strikes and so Beltran had to watch for it in the first two pitches of the AB. When he threw it, there was nothing he could do with it. It was just a perfect pitch.

As I wake up from last night, hand it to the pitching of the Cardinals, especially Suppan. They were very good. In the last part of the Mets series, they had a plan and attacked the Mets' hitters weaknesses. They adjusted and the Mets did not. To get no hits from the second until the ninth inning is just inexcusable. Also, I would have ph for Valentin in the sixth. That was the big shot. However, in my mind, the series was probably lost in the second game when Spiezio got that triple and Wagner gave it up in the ninth. Win that game and the Cards are probably out in 4 or 5. Mets never lead in that series after that and I think that was the turning point. Although not as bad as 1988, this one does pain and I'm in a bit of a fog right now. However, the core is good and there is an article in today's NYT about the need to shore up second base and starting pitching as the principal weaknesses. I guess they're thinkinga about Zito although I'm not sure that I want to spend that kind of money. However, they will sign Glavine for one more year. However, no Pedro until after the All Star break and who knows what he'll be like. Also, Trachsel has seen his last game as a Met. However, I have a lot of confidence in Omar finding the right pieces. Left field is also a potential problem. Other than that, the future looks bright and Maine and Perez really stepped up in the last couple of games so that's a big plus for next year.
-
El Duque will probably be the starting pitcher Saturday night, thereby giving Glavine his full rest for Sunday.
-
I don't know if history means anything but I saw some stat that teams who won the sixth game at home invariably win that particular series. Also, the last team to lose a seventh game at home were the Sox in 1975.

Tom, Can you check on the Frank Foster Cd if it's not too much trouble. Thanks.

FA: Odyssey of Iska, Herbie Nichols set & more

I see you've got listed the Stash CD, "Complete Birth of the Bebop." That's an incredible cd and a must have for Bird fanatics. -
I, on the other hand am hoping Glavine's arm falls off (not literally)! I will be at the Dave Holland show tonight and will have to make frequent jaunts to the bar for updates.....maybe I can get the waitress to bring me updates! m~ You got lucky! Rainout.

Great CD although I remember some so so reviews of it.
-
It's now 2 out of 3 and since two of those are in Shea, I'm feeling good. Hoping for good Glavine effort tomorrow although his work on 3 days rest isn't great. Take 'em one at a time.

I've got up for auction on ebay the Jackie McLean Mosaic set. I purchased this from Mosaic after it had gone out of print. So it's an unnumbered book. They only had 3 of the four cds. However, two of them are still sealed. I've got the fourth cd as a CDR, complete with the insert so it will be thrown in for nothing. Let me know if you have any questions.

Autumn Leaves All the Things You Are On the other hand too much of a good thing can be too much.

That's a riot. Very funny.

I think George's tirade and alleged dumping of Torre was just a way to deflect the attention from the Mets and keep the Yankees on the back pages. If so, it worked, didn't it? And you know that it must be killing him that the Mets are moving on and the Yankees going home. Can you imagine his reaction if the Mets make it to the Series, which they're likely to do? In New York sports, one team is usually up and the other down and we may be beginning to see a transition. These things are cyclical and the Yankee boom may be running into the bust cycle. After all, the Yankees are stuck with some big contracts right now and, unless they're just willing to cut people and pick up the cost, next year could be more of the same.

Thank you all. Seems like the 5th is indeed a popular day. Let's see if the Mets can comply and give me a nice present!

Category separation necessary, Jim?

I think that's a good idea. Either that or recommend that people identify it as such in the header. -
Guess I was wrong when I said he didn't deserve MVP. Hope he breaks 61. He'll be the true season HR king.
