  6. rest easy, they are not. Eagle Rock Entertainment's "Live at Montreux" Series Gives Music Fans Worldwide a Chance to Catch Performances From Legendary Swiss Festival on TV, DVD and CD Market Wire, July, 2005 As the 39th Annual Montreux Jazz Festival gets underway in scenic Montreux, Switzerland on Friday, July 1, preparations are being made to record the remarkable performances that routinely take place at this legendary music lover's event. This year's Festival will include Audioslave, Elvis Costello, Brian Wilson, Alice Cooper, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Through an exclusive partnership with Montreux Sounds, Eagle Rock Entertainment is making highlights of the Festival's performances available for the first time for worldwide television broadcast as part of its "Live at Montreux" series. Eagle Rock also has an exclusive agreement with Montreux Sounds for access to its Festival archives, including shows dating back to the 1960s. With permission from the artists and their record companies, many of these performances are being released on DVD and CD. Eagle Rock's "Live at Montreux" DVD/CD series debuted in November 2004 and has captured major artists at critical junctures of their careers (Bonnie Raitt), crowd favorites delivering classic sets (Earth Wind & Fire, Chic), and seminal artists that are no longer with us performing their greatest works (Johnny Cash, Marvin Gaye). Many performances are recorded in High Definition, and are available in stereo, 5.1 surround and DTS audio. The Montreux Jazz Festival, which marks its 40th anniversary next year, is one of the most prestigious and largest European music festivals, with more than 200,000 attendees in 2004. Under the peerless direction of Claude Nobs, the Festival has had a reputation for capturing stellar performances from well-known and up-and-coming jazz, rock, blues, r&b, hip-hop and world music artists since 1967, in a breathtaking setting surrounded by the Alpine mountains and Lake Geneva. 2005 will be the first year that Eagle Rock will make highlights from every artist's performance available for worldwide television broadcast. "The Montreux Festival is a music lover's fantasy -- nearly every major act from every genre of music has played it -- there's truly something for everyone," said Geoff Kempin, Chief Operating Officer of Eagle Rock Entertainment. "Now, music fans all over the world can view these landmark performances by their favorite artists on television, and many of them will be available later for their DVD and CD collections." Eagle Rock Entertainment is one of the leading independent sources for music audio and audio/visual programming, which it releases worldwide on DVD, CD and other formats, as well as through channels such as television and VOD. 15. before you discount the existence of ritual abuse based on the wikipedia entry, note their own warning: This article or section has multiple issues: * Its neutrality is disputed. * It may contain inappropriate or misinterpreted citations which do not verify the text. * An editor has expressed concern that the article is unbalanced. after a careful reading of the article, i can see multiple examples of all three points of contention.
  16. of course, you all know his brother...
  17. No scheduled times, but you've got to know the password and secret handshake. the password is: the handshake begins with: sorry, if i showed you the whole thing, i'd have to kill ya.

  22. i don't know if my opinion makes any difference, but this is an excellent series, one of the few i own and go back to again and again. if you like rowan atkinson, buy it (much funnier than mr. bean). if you like hugh lourie, buy it. gnhrtg, it might help if you offered some exact shipping quotes, like $X for the U.S., $Y for Europe, etc. just trying to help.
  23. That's rich - I've been on her band for 15 years and never heard that one. confucius say, "some things overheard are never said out loud."
  24. it looks like i just posted and ran last summer. i didn't see joe's comment to me about the metheny similarities, but it is something i became aware of soon after listening to sky blue. there's no denying that it's a beautiful album and i do enjoy it, more so at certain times than at others. i have all of maria's recordings and it's not my favorite. i've seen the orchestra perform twice before and i bet the music has a greater impact when it's experienced in a live setting. btw joe, i don't hate metheny. that kind of emotion requires more energy than i'm willing to exert. also, i still like his debut bright size life. finally, i want to add my voice to larry's recommendation of anita brown. i picked up 27 east in a bargain bin a couple of years ago, and it's a great recording that rewards repeated listening. check out the generous sound clips at cd baby and decide for yourself: 27 east
  25. you must be chewin' on some salvia, 'cause yer trippin'. take a look around. there are two mics on the vibes and one on the piano. the sax is blowin' into another mic, and there's even an electric guitar. with that set-up you're going to begrudge a guy in his sixties for using a mic for vocals? btw, how ironic is it that the guy who "slams" someone for amplifying his voice is the same guy WHO USUALLY TALKS LIKE THIS ON THE BOARD. I MEAN REALLY. DOESN'T IT MAKE YOUR BIG TOE JUST WANNA SHOOT UP IN YOUR BOOT AND GO WOOOOO!!!!!
