That Sal Salvador album sleeve is pretty sweet! Thoughts I like the earlier versions of "Theme From A Symphony" on Science Fiction much more, but the cool freakout on Midnight Sunrise has got to be the coolist I've ever heard Ornette freak out since "Free Jazz". Worth the price of admission alone. 🤘

Been hot and cold with Ornette in the post Science Fiction years. Have not played this one in almost a decade. I'll break it out. NP

I'm on the hunt being a HUGE bossa nova listener. Why not start the morning with one of my favorite drummers Note that I listened to the whole album for an hour! NP

What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

Brilliant answer to Moving Pictures! Unlike the records that followed 2112, which got more and more multi-layered and complex, which I really like (love Hemispheres and Farewell to Kings) Signals was not an attempt to "how do you top that?" I think that's what I really like about this album. It is not a follow-up to Moving Pictures. -
I have the UMS edition, can you tell us "Stange Strings" fans if the expanded version is worth the upgrade? Recently purchased the New World Records of Being released at the end of February.

Have been really enjoying this box set. I think I read somewhere that if Paul Desmond recorded a solo record that he was not allowed under contract to record with another pianist? Cool with me. Jim Hall is fantabulous on these sides.

Thanks, okay! This dude to me is a mystery in the 70's. Like Woody Shaw, lays down these stupendous sides, then just situates in the bowls of business, paycheck signed, then what?

I came across this CD in a largely rock record store nearly 20 years ago, so I got it for a steal. This record is out of this world bonkers; hypnotic, yet balls out. After listening, I still don't know what to make of it. Color me impressed! PS, ie, callin' Clifford Thornton, guessing you may know some history behind what label this record was originally recorded on, and what the original sleeve art looked like.

Impressions, what do you think? NP

Missed out on the audiophile treatment. Just ordered this, plus has the original album art.

Just saw Terence Blanchard with Herbie Hancock back in November at Severance Hall in Cleveland. They're out of print again!

Well, if you look at it from RRK's perspective, he was probably playing four horns at once, so maybe nobody even knew Sonny even left.

Oh. Not mini-sleeves?

I guess I have to splurge for the Milestone years CD box set if I ever want to hear these albums. Sleeve artwork is cool, so I'll miss out on that.

Late night TMC ( I have a hard time falling asleep) has introduced me to a number of movies from the seventies I never even knew existed, eg, this one, starring Harvey Keitel and Robert DeNiro. Don't follow what the big problem was, except a small debt that wasn't paid and two hours was "paid" explaining that, and a loophole ending, but otherwise, an under-the-radar movie I never heard of beforehand.
