There's a history? This, I did not know. But ok, having some perpetually pissed-off fucker repeatedly not liking how I say what I say and/or what I say constitues a "history". Just like my cable company probably has a history of my viewing. Like, wow. Big wow. It gives somebody something to do, so, good! Other than that, who cares? And now, can I get that "serious wakeup call" at 7:30 Am (CST). I'll need it then. But not one minute before! Outta this one, guys, (this time for real) unless/until we can get some relevant explanation of the "vulgar" thing.

Clifford Brown at the Cotton Club... ??
JSngry replied to tranemonk's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Label timings are: Lover Man 6:32 Daahoud 10:23 What's New 19:14 I'll Remember April 3:54 However, the album label and jacket both mislabel "What's New" as "I'll Remember April", and vice-versa. It should also be noted that these tunes came to Elektra Musician/Bruce Lundvall thorugh Max Roach, who, iirc, claimed ownership of them. -
Ok, I can follow your lead and continue to contribute absolutely nothing to trying to figure what is meant by "vulgar" as it applies to Latin rhythms sections, or I can let you have the floor (and the mop). Take it, Jackson, it's all yours. And remember - piso mojado!

Suffering from emnotional exhaution, are we? It's ok, we all get that way sometimes. At least y'all got some rain in November. We'll take some (but not all) of that here. See what you can do to make that happen, ok?

My introductions to Ra were the impulse! issues, and that's one of the ones I picked up. This is going to give me a poke towards getting it out and playing it some more, so thanks for including it. Ok, just checked, and I don't have this one at all, LP or CD. OOPS. But it has been ordered. So double thanks for including it!

And you will be none the worse for it! Seriously - I've not knowingly heard the Maggie record in question, and I don't know how much I really want to right now. But I would like to know about the "vulgar" rhythm section thing, just to know whether or not it's referring to something that may or may not stoke my desire to hear the date at some point.

If so, please explain. If not, than I guess neither of us knows what it means. You may not care to know, but I was - and since you bring it back up, still am - genuinely curious as to what the comment meant. I would welcome the OP's elaboration if he/she cares to offer it. While we're on the subject, I would like to point out that you can count me as one of the "non-believers/followers" who NEVER knows what YOU mean. So when you get pissed off, it's about something you don't understand? I know what THAT means!

Early Sun. Ra brings many rewards! I actually own that record...but obviously don't know it as well as I should. Can you feel more like a dumbass than I do right now? I sure hope not!

You should be suspicious of everything in the DMN, even if you saw it happen yourself and it looks like they got it exactly right (not that that will ever happen). Just sayin'... OTOH, "cult" may or may not be too strong of a description for a group that has regular, forced meetings where "issues" regarding the "inner core" are are "worked out" and the leader has free reign to smack people as they see fit, but "abusive and manipulative" probably isn't. I'd throw in "unhealthy" as well, just because...it is. Not that any of that had to do with Ornette or the music/musicians booked there. No doubt it didn't, and I never thought that it did. But when it comes to "Caravan Of Dreams" as a whole, you can't tell the whole story without including that part of it.

Ok, I've got none of that stuff on the right side of my screen. None. And I can't find any setting to adjust to make it show up. Help, please? I'd like this widget, because I buy a fair amount of all kinds of stuff from Amazon, and can just as easily use this widget for "ceramic Christmas tree bulbs" as I can "Miles Davis".

The Singers Unlimited Went to Hell in the Late 70s
JSngry replied to Teasing the Korean's topic in Artists
The cool thing about Eventide is that Farnon doesn't write full orchestral backgrounds for every tune, he just writes orchestra "accents" as needed for each song, which can range anywhere from full-frontal strings to just a harp here and there. It's a lot more diverse palate than on Sentimental Journey (which is also gorgeous, just by using different means). -

Find Eventide. Just...find it. -
WOW!! very interesting. and i'll bet you anything that no royalties are being paid to any of these artists!!! That's part of the Snow Dog series out of Japan, so the material itself has been licensed from the owners. If royalties are not being paid to the artists, it wouldn't be Snow Dog's fault.

That explains why Black Jazz ended up with Ovation towards the end of its run.
