  1. It's a rant, and should be recognized/evaluated as such.
  2. That's easy. It's the person with the world's largest head. Not sure about that...but it is an alto player who is much-admired on this board.
  3. Listened to it about a month ago, actually. It's very, very good.
  4. I give a lot of to anything when it gets to the point of people getting personally offended as a result of somebody else's right to rant, rationally or otherwise. Not everybody digs Zionism, not everybody digs Jews (collectively or individually), not everybody digs Black folk (ditto), not everybody digs White folk (ditto again), etc etc etc. Oh the fuck well. Them that's got shall get, them that's not will tend to be pissed, and so it fucking goes.
  5. Is the water always this low this time of year, or are you guys having a drought too?
  6. So...when I hear a bunch of white folk - most of whom have never visited, let alone spent any time talking to the people of, the urban inner city - blasting rap/hi-hop/etc. as vile crap, I shouldn't take them all that seriously? Good, because I don't!
  7. Quiet as it's kept, Pepsi is highly flammable, In fact, the WTC was made out of Pepsi. It's true. Just don't tell anybody. They'll think you're crazy.
  8. The poem is already burnt - into my mind. I live in constant dread of mau-maus slitting my throat and killing my babies, because, it;s so damn...likely to happen these days, ya'know? Any minute now! Perhaps I should just set my mind on fire, although...past experiments in that regard have had at best mixed results.
  9. http://www.tv.com/sh...12-1955-814006/ Worth noting is that per here: http://lists.jazzwee...rch/002849.html Burns unstead used a slip of juggler Rudy Cardenas, who was not even on thee show that night, but who was on the following werk, 3/19/55 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1855000/ So what Burns is showing you that Bird was watching, Bird was already dead by then - and it wasn't evne the same act. So much for meticulous research...
  10. Can you still find those Masters of Jazz discs anywhere? I've within the last two weeks picked up two LPs of (mostly) 1944 Lincoln Hotel. Can't find that stuff just anywhere these days either.
  11. Jarman wrote a poem, so he's ok, then, right? Just trying to figure out where these records need to go if they're not staying. (please note that I am very muc using irony, which as a white concept, only increases the already-high odds the mau-maus will slit my throat and kill my babies) Speaking of irony, it puts him in a similar role within the history of western anti-Semitism that Eric Alexander plays within the history of jazz! Or Anita Bryant in the history of orange juice!
  12. That and thee parallel City Of Class/Kenton Play Graettinger compilation pretty much covers all of them, I think.
  13. Yeah, I recognize that, but it's never registered before what that thing really is - it's a lawn mower exhaust! That means that that mouth has been mowing grass, and that's EEEEEWWWWWWW!!!!!! My bad, it's a muffler, not an exhaust pipe.
  14. The more tings change.. Is that a lawn mower exhaust sticking out of that guy's neck? God, where has that mouth been?
  15. I find myself re-buying stuff that I got rid of decades ago just because the urge itched and I couldn't scratch it. So I've kinda decided to never say never again again, and not 'cause here I am in love again, head over heels in love again with the same sweet you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWRnWEN1nSQ&feature=related
  16. Ok...let me go out on a limb here...any chance that you guys have (or could get) the unedited Half Note tapes of Warne/Lee/Etc that Revelation released as the two volumes as The Art Of Improvising, the two albums of just Warne's solos? Those thing are freakin' epic. Verve released 12 of them, but the Revelation albums are 34 solos, so there's (at least) 22 more to be unleashed. If you could get that stuff out...then we'd have world peace, maybe...
  17. Well, ok, but when mau-maus slit my throat and kill my children, I'm blaming your book. At least...as best as I can with a slit throat. Not sure how that's gonna work...
  18. I feel your pain on that one, believe me.
  19. It would be interesting to hear, but I've heard the material, and you can't hear too much of anything, really. I have a very high tolerance for homemade tapes and such, but this one is damn near unlistenable. You can hear the lines (more or less), but the tones all sound the same, which is to say, one prolonged GRGGRGRHKNWPCLQGRGGRGRHKNWPCLQGRGGRGRHKNWPCLQGRGGRGRHKNWPCLQ Not a vowel to be had. Too bad, really.
  20. Guess Who?
  21. Has this been happening to y'all? One guy sends me a pack of Branson On Stage trading cards along with the record I bought. Uh, thanks? Another guy sends along a really crappy (but damn near Mint condition) Atlanta Rhythm Section LP with no cover, no sleeve, not nothing, just a naked LP. Guess he thought about as much of the music as I did. But still... One the one hand, it's eccentrically charming. On the other hand, hey, use a freakin' dumpster, ok? Good thing I only have two hands... Share you stories here!
  22. My Holy Grail Lester Young record (at least of the ones I know about...)...The Young Brothers band, airshots from his brief 1944 return to Basie, every cut supreme in every way and none of it commonly circulated to this day. Found it still sealed on a By-It-Now deal from some guy in Miane (not Alan Lowe) for $17.50...I've been willing to pay more than several time that for it if I could ever find a copy, which I haven't been. The postman just dropped it off. Thanks, Bill from Maine (who included a pack of Branson On Stage trading cards, for, I guess, good measure. Today is a GOOD day.
