Same hound auditioning for a gig as a Mode Records cover model.

Also keep an eye open for Rosewell Rudd's Blown Bone, which has appearances by Lacy, Davern, & Tyrone Washingon. And Wilbur Little & Paul Motian.

Retrospection is a compilation of previously issued tracks, iirc. Tyrone is on these two albums, originally.

Well, I'm sure that everybody was alive when they were playing, so in that sense... Here's a shot of the back cover from Amazon: The website http://www.12entertainment.nl (if I'm reading that correclty) does not exist (or if it does, it's not available through my ISP). Nevertheless, there is, of course, a "series" of these things: http://www.naylerco...._Series_CD.html Lest there be any doubt t that these are well-crafted, intelligent PD issues guaranteed to elevate the music and the understanding thereof: Freudian slip, perhaps.

Van DePitte & Marvin were a special, magical combo... If the real raw magic came from Marvin, Van DePitte deserves unlimited credit for keeping it channeled & focused in the translation.

Gruß Holger The question was asked in English but answered in German? How do we know that this is not a coded message to begin a terrorist attack on America? Or a coded tip as to who the next dead German musician would be? Or a coded listing of Jordi Pujol's private phone #? Ever vigilant, we must be!

One of the greats...I was unaware that he had passed in 2009 until finding this article: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/david-van-depitte-arranger-of-marvin-gayes-epochal-album-whats-going-on-1786174.html I'll speak up for this guy any time. His orchestral writing on the What's Going On album is still overlooked as the singular accomplishment it is...and he contributed marvellously to Let's Get It On as well. Nothing "generic" abpout it all, it had a voice as as strong and unique as Marvin's. And then there was this one, posthumously released...Again, the arranger provides the background necessary to get the song to the place it best needs to be, and that's a tough song with a tough place to get to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSWjVi45jw0 And although I don't think he's credited as arranger on here, the string writing sounds like him...Cellos as bari saxes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDbFne5VX4Q Anyway, the guy was great, but not really "known", so you got to look for his work. I've not yet been disappointed. Showing respect now, even if it is belated. RIP, and much thanks.
