  1. An arsenal for soothing!!! Debussy - The Composer as Pianist Fun!
  2. Is this good, or REALLY good?
  3. Here, buy this one: https://www.dmagazine.com/home-garden/2024/06/hot-property-5304-nakoma-dr/ Be sure to browse the gallery!
  4. Discogs has both LP & CD. Bandcamp has LP and download. https://www.discogs.com/release/30647611-Wadada-Leo-Smith-Amina-Claudine-Myers-Central-Parks-Mosaics-Of-Reservoir-Lake-Paths-And-Gardens https://redhookrecords.bandcamp.com/album/central-parks-mosaics-of-reservoir-lake-paths-and-gardens
  5. My understanding is that they were introduced at the same time as the 10" but were used mostly for classical pieces. My understanding is that the 12" became the preferred size for all LPs somewhere in the mid 1950s. No hard cutoff date that I can find, just product/consumer evolution. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LP_record
  6. It was a gift from a friend. Sorry, that's all I know.
  7. It is good. Very quiet, very sparse, but it has bite because of that.
  8. Am I remembering right that it was Bill Hardman onboard with both Harper & Garnett...and then again on Backgammon? Gotta also remember that there was a spell where The Jazz Messengers were not a regularly working unit. Blakey was picking up gigs when they were there and getting who he could get. Hardman was on a lot of those gigs. Woody Shaw was as well, to a lesser extent.
  9. Unkka Grumpah - Blow Hockey!!!
  10. Find a window into the Japanese market. Also, be prepared to sell in bulk.
  11. I think it was in the mastering that Alfred really used his secret sauce. Those albums that zBraith released on his own are all worth checking out. One of his jam session records has a track where Sonny Rollins sits in + on saxophone pads! He must fingers the note without blowing and the pads make the sound.
  12. Yeah, those Prestige sides are fun! And then the Roulette albums. And before that the quasi bootlegs with Billy Harper...and the Catalyst record with Carlos Garnet and Joanne Brackeen.
  13. So apparently the US team's match today was rained out (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), which gives us enough total points to make the Top Eight...am I getting that right?
  14. The one World Series game I went to, we paid $1400 for two tickets that were nosebleed-y, but still behind home plate. We still had the game in front of us, and a good game it was. It was crazy money, but I can always say that I took my son to a World Series game. Maybe I can get him to pay for my cricket ticket now?
  15. Alfred Lion had his own set of tweakings that he had Rudy do, and I think that is was considered "proprietary" by both parties.
  16. You are playing this during your family event, yes?
  17. MLB games (Texas Rangers) are now priced anywhere from $26 to $399. The cheaper seat get you up in the "nosebleed section", in the outfield so the more you pay, the closer to the action (from the infield views) you get. The seats I like that I can afford go for about $100 per. This is more than it used to be. When we started going to games at the old-old stadium,, you could get good seats for around $35. Then at the old-new stadium about $65. And now, this. The games are shorter now, thanks to some new rules mostly having to do with timed plays and "cat and mouse" type things. The average game length is now 2:36, but 3 hours is still possible. So, cricket is going to be cheaper, and last about as long as a quick MLB game. Although, the new-new stadium has a retractable roof and is air-conditioned. In Texas, that matters! What I can't answer to is concession prices.
  18. I don't mind Madonna as sociology. If I find the movie for free, I might take a look.
  19. Dusty Groove has quite a few right now!!! https://www.dustygroove.com/search.php?sf=10+inch
  20. This one ison the Internet Archive. It's just 5 pieces, under 30 minutes total. The full outp[ut is available elsewhere. Having said that, this is a wonderful, if brief, listen.
  21. Thanks. I don't know how tall Benny Golson is.
