  1. I've yet to see any evidence to contradict that the doctors initially assumed an overdose and left him alone to come out of it. That assumption was time lost.
  2. The doctors finally figured out that it was diabetes and not an overdose, is that the story here? It seems to be.
  3. The Fresh Stunned Groceries - How Many Hows Are In How Many?
  4. Stumfree Landle - Stum's Idea!!!
  5. For whom was he then working? UA? Or between jobs? What was his gig at WB?
  6. Has Weather Report come back?
  7. Hmmm.... What are we going to do with all our jokes when we die? Our kids don't want them, the libraries won't take them, maybe we should throw them all in the dumpster?
  8. But they were making money (more than ever, perhaps) and kept having hits. Al Bell built it back bigger than it was before. Watch WATTSTAX. Leveraged capital is hardcore American Capitalism 101. So is calling in all the chips when you want to pull the rug out from under somebody you want to get out of the way.
  9. Is this a joke about drunken Irish bravado or French cowardice!
  10. Thanks for calling this one out. Never knew about it. Lester/Basie 1944 is always something I will check out, so I found a good cheap copy and am listening now. Not a LOT of Pres, but there's no such thing as "not enough" new Lester to pique my interest!
  11. Sal Cuevas was a seriously bad mother (shut your mouth)
  12. When it was new, nobody knew how it was "supposed" to go: One day earlier, Ravel was present for this: I like how the phrasings are as much felt for as they are recited, like there was no mutually agreed on exactness required, not yet.
  13. Scrubber Allwhite - Sanitized For Your Protection!!!
  14. Keep an eye out for Padres games with their City Connect uniforms, especially day games!
  15. Illustrious voiceover career also. Many commercials!
  16. Thanks for that link. Just watched it. Very nice! But I didn't see that guy. Where was he? I did hear a lot of variants of "doctors assumed overdose and just let him be to come out of it". How long does it take to come out of an overdose anyway?
  17. I sampled it. Not bad! The drummer is on time!
  18. So he went to his place and stayed alone for two days? Who finally discovered him there?
  19. Two days later? What happened in those two days? Wondering what the deal was about this "super" ( my word) insulin. Was it's use common at the time?
  20. I don't know enough to critique bowlers and bowling yet, but it sure seems that WI bowlershad a few really terrible overs. But WI's offense hit a big lull before coming alive again. They could have had a much bigger total but for that. I guess this is all part of the game. Like baseball, it might look like it moves slowly, but really, there's always a game going on!
  21. More Gospel is usually a good thing!!!!
  22. Pretty sure that there was a mutual understanding about at whom the motherfucker was aimed. Both teams were pretty pissed at the umpiring in that game. I think I'll root for Oakland this year. Watching games with tiny crowds in a massive and decrepit relic of a stadium housing a young team that sometimes comes alive (but only sometimes) but always gives you Bip Roberts on the post-game, awash in a trippy wash of gold and green...best the hell out of whatever it is that the Defending World Champions are offering this year. It's a totally quirky team with a totally quirky package. Dallas Braden!!!
  23. Who took him to the hospital? Did he get taken to a hospital? Still shrouded in mystery...and everybody's dead now, not just Dolphy.
  24. Could you put a few samples of something up on your website?
  25. But why would a doctor just assume that he was an overdosed junkie? Was there no examination at all? And if there was, what led to that specific conclusion? Lacking any credible statements to the contrary, I have no reason to doubt the first-hand accounts of this incident. It's a loaded accusation, but nobody's come forward with anything to counter it. The honey use, as mentioned by various sources, was no doubt disastrous. It seems that the medical community was in a relatively primitive level of awareness about diabetes compared to today. The lump was a "wen": https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3271400/#:~:text=A trichilemmal cyst (also known,skin[1%2C2].
