  2. Nas is somebody I've heard through my son. Unlike a lot of what I hear that way, I listen to it. Yeah, Nas is worthy, at least for now. Probably moreso than his old man's become, although I'm not putting money on that just yet. No book for/from/out of me, at least not now, Ghost. That's a totally different craft/skill/art/whatever than just sitting down at the computer to a jazz board and conversing, which is something at which I sometimes get lucky and find a zone. Whatever I have to say gets said here, in the spurry heat of the moment, just like it would if we were all hanging out. It's a "between friends" type thing here, and that works for me, all things considered. I would, however, be glad to take liner note assignments, as well as customized birthday/anniversary/sympathy card gigs. That type of love is universal, doncha know, and there's money to be made. Why not? And I'll do anything to get Monday Michiru over in this country. Anything. No reasonable offer refused, unreasonable offers pre-approved if success is guaranteed in advance.

  5. No man, not you! I mean, like, "Hey, that's a jazzy sweater!"
  6. Not as much as "Jazzy!"
  7. Certainly not an integral part of the performance. Might well have been overdubbed to give it perceived airplay appeal. Or it might have been that Stephen James cat.

  9. Yah, thar be ye olde organ on the LP as well.
  10. I'm also the kind of guy to have it on CD, and there's definitely organ going on all through it there. Lemme pull out the LP...
  11. Yes, in fact, I am. Lemme go check...

  17. I'm pretty much ignoranat about this, but doesn't "ballet" technically refer specifically to the dance? Unless the choreography is the work of the composer of the music (of it the creation of both is done in tandem), shouldn't any piece of music be suited for a ballet, and shouldn't "music for ballet" be used to designate music composed specifically for a ballet? I'm probably all worng about this, so please correct me. I do know that Ellington's "Night Creatures" took on life as a ballet withing a few years after its premier. But I don't know if it was composed with an eye towatds becoming a ballet or not.
  18. Oldies staions and the devolving format might be god's way of telling us that it's time to let it all go and move the hell on.
  19. On the hair/toilet thing, two possibilities spring to mind, and they're not necessarily mutually exclusive: 1} She saw that her actions were making you upset, so she decided to do something to make you happy. 2} She decided to use the toilet as a distraction/redirection away from the shampoo event. Remember - kids this age are discovering their own power in general, and specifially/especially the power of their own independence. All they're experienceing from their perspective is the rush of raw power. They have no context as to what it all means until you provide it for them. That takes time, and that will drain you sometimes, but that's the gig. My spmpathies, best wishes, and congratulations, all as needed. Do you have any idea about why she seems so uptight about shampooing? Did she have a bad experience at some point, like shampoo or water in the eyes? That "no more tears" stuff is true as far as it goes, but that's not nearly as far as they want you to believe... Ways to make it fun - Has she watched you shampoo your hair? Has she seen the Tegrin guy? The Great Gazzoo? Speed Racer? Shampoo suds make for a great helmet, and helmets are fun! If that fails, show her pictures of head lice... Ok, I joke, but hopefully not so much as to obscure the point. Live for today, but get enough rest for tomorrow.
  20. because IF there is an answer i sure would like to know it so that i can sound at least a little like i know what i am talking about when i am talking about music that i enjoy. You'll sound more like you know what you're talking about if you talk more about the actual music than the labels!
