Does the CD replicate the vinyl format, where one disc plays at 33 1/3 and the other plays at 45? If not, I'll have no part of this so-called "progress".

Shari Lewis was a master of disguise. She was famous for doing stand-in work for Gisele MacKenzie , Shirley Jones, & Ruta Lee. It's true. Seriously - I met her briefly at a promtional appearance at a local Target a few years ago. I had dug her as a kid, and my kids dug her PBS show. So when we got up to the front of the line to get the Lambchop Angel Puppet's wings autographed and I saw my 4 yr old daughter just freakin' THRILLED to be meeting Shari Lewis, I got a little choked up and tried to say "Thank you". She looked at me kinda funny, then looked at my daughter, smiled very warmly, softly said, "You're welcome", gave us both a BIG hug, and went right back to hustling. A true pro, old school show-biz type, no doubt, but god was she cool. Hustle all you can/must, but don't lose sight of the rest of it, make time for a moment or two along the way, even blink-of-an-eye ones. I was inspired.

It's all tools, ya' know, and the more tools you have (or, more accurately, the better command you have of the ones you do have), the better you can build exactly what you want to build. This stuff ain't never finished!

Well, when it comes to that kind of thing, I'm still a Nelseon Riddle/Claus Ogerman guy myself, but they both swore/swear by Farnon, who, it seems was doing the "modern harmony on pop records" thing before either of them. Plus - a few jazz players whose harmonic sense I greatly admire (notably, Herbie Hancock) swear by Farnon as well. And Phil Kelley ain't no slouch as a writer, either, trust me, if you do not already know. So - I got to accept all that, the opinion of those playing the same game as Farnon played, those whose work I hold in high esteem, and I'm ready to admit that perhaps what I'm lacking is a sense of historical perspective, which can only be cured by research, which is always fun, if sometimes expensive. but hey - that's life!

Hey, don't put me in the middle of this. I dig both you guys, you each got your own very distinct flayva, and I fully appreciate that about both of you. Put me down in the (probable) minority who get a lot of enjoyment from what both of you bring to the table! Bottom line, in whatever I do, music, amateur writing, whatever, I'm gonna do what I want to do the way I want to do it, accept the mistakes, learn from them, and try to improve as a result - not to please anybody else's standards (legit or avant), but to do it better, truer, and more knowingly the next time. Sometimes the rules will be followed, sometimes not, but it needs to be done knowingly, at least it does for me. That's just how I roll widdit. All criticism is welcome, although all expectations (one way or the other) are put forth at their own risk.

Still uncovering/discovering his legacy, but obviously a talent to be reckoned with, to put it mildly. Hate it such the discoveries are posthumous, but that's how it is sometimes for those of us who are late getting the message. Oh well, a life is temporary, but a life's work lasts forever, hopefully.

Well, yeah, but I should have used "every silver lining has a cloud" to balance it out in regards to the dropped cut from the Griffin disc. That's what happens when you write all in one fell swoop - haste makes waste. Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
